Western Maryland Animal Hospital possesses several features and highlights that contribute to its role as a local veterinary care provider in Maryland. Customer experiences offer valuable insights into what makes this clinic stand out, as well as areas of concern.
- Experienced and Professional Staff: As highlighted by a satisfied client, "Dr fox and his staff are so wonderful! ❤️🐶". This indicates a positive and caring demeanor from at least some members of the veterinary team, including Dr. Fox, who is explicitly praised for being "very nice and professional." Such testimonials suggest that many pet owners experience compassionate and effective care.
- Comprehensive Care for Common Pets: The hospital is noted for caring for many types of pets, including dogs and cats, covering a broad spectrum of common household animals. This makes it a convenient option for multi-pet households in the Maryland area.
- Full-Service Capabilities: From routine preventative care like vaccinations to more involved services such as surgery and dental work, the hospital's ability to offer a wide array of medical treatments is a significant advantage for pet owners seeking a one-stop solution for their animal's health needs.
- Focus on Routine and Emergency Care: The clinic welcomes both routine appointments and emergency cases, providing a critical service to the community when unexpected health issues arise.
- Concerns Regarding Unsupervised Animals: However, it is important to acknowledge a specific client's reported experience with loose animals on the premises. This customer, who was pregnant, noted "3 loose dogs running around" belonging to staff members, leading to concerns about safety and professionalism. The review indicates a "female veterinarian was very rude and was in the background mocking me and was rude to me at the time I was checking out as well." This suggests an inconsistent client experience and highlights the importance of maintaining a professional and secure environment, especially in a medical facility. Potential clients should be aware of this feedback when considering the hospital.
- Staff Responsiveness to Client Concerns (Mixed): While the male veterinarian was described as "very nice and professional," the female veterinarian's reported behavior in response to a safety concern created a negative impression for one client. This indicates that while there are positive interactions, there may be instances where client concerns are not addressed with the expected level of professionalism.

I love this place! Dr fox and his staff are so wonderful! ❤️🐶
May 17, 2025 · Connie BridgesJust 2 days ago, I went to get my male dog neutered there and there were 3 loose dogs running around. After talking to the receptionist, I found out that they belonged to the veterinarian and an assistant. I expressed that I did not appreciate the loose dogs jumping in the side of my brand new truck or greeting me and my intact male dog as we were trying to get through the door because I’m 33 weeks pregnant and will not be able to break up a dog fight. The female veterinarian was very rude and was in the background mocking me and was rude to me at the time I was checking out as well.I can’t understand for the life of me why they do not see having 3 loose dogs at a practice is not a liability for their own dogs, the clients dogs and the clients themselves can get hurt! They are supposed to be professionals and not only know better but act better towards a concerned client. The male veterinarian is who seen my dog and he was very nice and professional however the female veterinarian was completely opposite 🤯.
Sep 19, 2024 · Heather LavertyDr. Foland is always gentle and kind to my Gus. He takes his time for the exam and always asks if there are any questions. Rest of the staff are friendly and helpful as well.
Nov 09, 2019 · Jean Van MeterI’m not one to leave reviews, but I thought I would. I have been coming here since my dog was a puppy. He’s 8 years old now. A few hiccups on health issues along the way. But I’ve never had a bad experience here. They’ve been pleasant to my fur baby. Even when he got sick last summer, they cured it. I feel bad my dog likes to be very vocal in the waiting area until he’s seen. Lol. He just gets anxious and they’re very patient with my dog as he is weird about certain areas being examined etc. I like to stay in one place and it helps my dog so that he is familiar with them. All I have to say now is, “we’re going to see Dr. Fox!” He gets really excited before leaving the house lol. It can get very busy so I recommend give them patience even if you have to wait a little bit in waiting area, even if you have an appointment time. There has been times even on minor emergencies they squeezed me in. Which was kind of them to put my mind at ease. Even though they are not open on weekends this is my go to vet! Vet care is not cheap so I like that I can feel comfortable and my dog feel comfortable where you’re receiving care at. My dog doesn’t seem to mind the office kitties lol. Which I’m glad for that. But over all, it’s always been a positive experience every time. I’m grateful I am able to trust the care he receives. They do not judge him either when he has his moments of, nope you’re not touching that! They are super patient when he gets that way and get the job done.I appreciate you all!
Oct 27, 2023 · Christie SawyerI have called multiple times in the past three days. Monday-Wednesday when they are open. They have not answered the phone once. I recently got my cat spayed and her incision is infected so it is an emergency. I went here before and there was no issue but this is completely unacceptable if they want to run a business.
