Catnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in New York, especially those with feline companions or small mammals, finding a veterinary hospital that truly understands the unique needs of these animals is crucial. Traditional clinics often cater primarily to dogs, which can create a stressful environment for more sensitive pets. This is where Catnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital in New Hyde Park steps in, offering a specialized and dedicated approach to veterinary care that focuses exclusively on cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, mice, and gerbils. Founded by Dr. Jennifer Saver, this hospital is designed to provide a calm, quiet, and low-stress environment, making it an ideal choice for the specific temperaments of these beloved creatures.
Catnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital has built a reputation for its deep understanding of its specialized patient base. Dr. Saver and her team are known for their commitment to compassionate and thorough care, taking the time to educate pet owners on the basics of care and any necessary procedures. This dedication to informative and patient-centric service ensures that pet parents feel confident and involved in their animal's health journey. The unique specialization means that every aspect of the hospital, from its equipment to its staff's expertise, is tailored to provide the best possible care for cats and small mammals, free from the potentially overwhelming presence of larger animals.
The hospital's philosophy centers around creating a serene atmosphere, acknowledging that cats and small prey animals naturally hide pain and illness and can be easily stressed by noisy environments. By eliminating the presence of dogs and other larger animals, Catnip and Carrots aims to minimize anxiety, allowing for more accurate examinations and a more comfortable experience for their patients. This specialized focus and commitment to a low-stress environment make Catnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital a distinctive and highly valued resource for pet owners across Long Island and the greater New York area who seek tailored, expert care for their specific animal companions.

Catnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Dr. Saver always puts her patients first. I love how she takes the time to go over basics of care and any procedures that need to be done. She is patient and so good with the bunnies. Her office team is always sweet and compassionate as well. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Jul 03, 2025 · Kadie SantiagoThe staff and techs are very nice. However - I was a long time client of Dr. Saver's (on and off for over 30 years). I was recently treated very badly by Dr. Saver (and she knows that the cats I have had through the years lived long lives because of the love and care I always gave them). Dr. Saver chose recently to berate and belittle me in front of other clients and some staff because my 18 year old cat gets very stressed and agitated when she goes for monthly injections. There was no reason for how she spoke to me- I was a loyal, long-time customer. I and others have heard her acting this way even on the phone with other clients. I now see a different vet and they couldn't be nicer, understanding and patient - especially with a senior cat who gets anxious and stressed when going to the vet. Very, very disappointed in the way I was treated by Dr. Saver and have chose to end my relationship with Catnip and Carrots because of her unprofessional behavior.
Jun 28, 2025 · Lydia LilliCatnip and Carrots Veterinary Hospital is by far one of the most trusted places in my life, next to my home. When I bring my rabbits to the vet, I feel confident about the care they are going to receive. I feel confident not only in their expertise of exotic animals, but in the care they receive from the doctors, technicians and staff members. This veterinary hospital is clean, caring and reasonably priced. They are dedicated employees and I have the utmost trust in Catnip and Carrots.
Nov 02, 2024 · Danielle StevenI can not say enough about how wonderful the Catnips & Carrots team is. We have brought our cat and rabbits here, and they are kind and thorough and friendly and up on all of the latest medical information. They are about a 40 minute ride from our house, but we gladly make the trip out for our babies. They have done everything from cancer tumor removal to grooming. If you have cats or rabbits, this is absolutely the place to go. And they have Saturday and Sunday hours!
Feb 23, 2025 · anna mccarrollThey mostly take care of cas and rabbits but I had a chinchilla. His name was Monkey, so it was a bit humorous to call about a Monkey when they don't take Monkies Dr. Savor loved my little man so much as did the team. Sadly he passed away in their "home" due to a condition beyond their control. I miss him so much. Monkey was in their care for 10 years for exams and check ups. I would recommend C&C to anyone and everyone for the best health care and love of their furry family. The office is beautiful, so clean and so calm..As I sit here writing this review, crying, I will miss them so much and wish them all the best. Monkey may not be here, but he will always be with them.
