Wiese Diane M DVM Reviews
I just moved to the area and needed to update my 5 year old yellow Lab's vaccines, so I called VCA and set-up an appointment. Over the phone I was told that because we were new to the hospital our first medical exam would be free, it wasn't (approx $60 not outrageous, but not free). When I arrived the desk staff was average, nothing to complain about, but nothing to compliment either. Then we were walked back to an exam room. The room was small, a bit run down and not exactly welcoming. When the doctor arrived, before introducing herself she began talking about doomsday scenarios because my dog has not been spayed. I am a responsible dog owner and know the risks (this wasn't my first vet visit nor my first dog). I happened to mention that I recently discovered my dog had allergies; this information sent the doc into another tirade of doomsday scenarios and expensive solutions. Finally she looked the dog over and complimented her disposition and general health. Then as she was about to leave I reminded her that we came for vaccines (apparently the doc either didn't know or had forgotten).Because my dog was in heat (actually started spotting there in the office) the doc sent the technicians into the exam room to administer the vaccines rather than taking her to the back room (makes sense). I helped one technician hold the dog down while the other administered the medicine. Some how the technician missed(?) with the first vaccine and squirted medication on my dog's fur. Finally they got the vaccines taken care and all that was left was for me to pay.So a trip that should have been a quick exam and two vaccine's took well over and hour and left me feeling uneasy about the hospital and I got the sense that if I was less experienced with dogs I might have spent well over $1000 to prevent HIGHLY unlikely doomsday scenarios. Needless to say I will not be returning.
