Features / Highlights
One of the most notable features of VCA Animal Hospital of Los Gatos is the dedication of its staff, particularly Dr. Peterson, who has earned the trust and praise of many long-term clients. Her ability to quickly diagnose a rare disease and her patient, honest communication have been a significant highlight for pet owners. The staff is often described as friendly and kind, making an effort to create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
The clinic's practice of writing the names of the visiting dogs on a board is a small but charming touch that contributes to a personal and friendly feel. This detail, along with the overall pleasant demeanor of the staff, helps to foster a sense of community and care. This is an important factor for pet owners who want to feel that their animal is being seen as an individual, not just a patient number.
The hospital's ability to handle complex medical issues, such as the successful dental surgery and cleaning mentioned in a review, speaks to the quality of its veterinary services. Pet owners appreciate the thorough and professional care they receive for both routine and advanced treatments. However, it's worth noting that client experiences with communication can vary. While some have praised the staff for their kindness, others have had less positive interactions, particularly regarding weekend care availability and follow-up communication. A customer's detailed account of a misdiagnosis and a subsequent lack of follow-up from a clinic representative named Emily suggests that some clients may find the communication and commitment to pet welfare to be a mixed bag. This review points to a perceived focus on the "bottom line" over comprehensive care, which is a significant concern for pet owners who prioritize their animal's well-being above all else. This mixed feedback highlights the importance for pet owners to feel comfortable with the level of care and communication they receive, which is a key part of any good vet-client relationship.

VCA Animal Hospital of Los Gatos Reviews
It has been almost 3 years since we have been coming to this VCA. The staff is very friendly and super nice. They make me and my dog very comfortable every time we visit. My dog is seen by Dr Peterson and I trust her a lot. My dog has a rare disease and Dr Peterson was quick to find out. She answers all my questions patiently. :) She always gives honest opinions. It gets busy here so I make sure that I am booking appointments in advance. I am really happy with the care my dog got recently for dental surgery and cleaning. I love that they put the name of all the dogs on a board who are visiting that day.
Apr 01, 2025 · Akanksha MehtaMy niece recommended I take my cat to VCA because of her positive experience with the VCA clinic near her. I took my cat to VCA Los Gatos because his eye had become swollen and discharge coming from it. The vet, Dr. Peterson diagnosed him having Feline Chlamydia and gave me a topical eye gel for him. Within a couple of days, he was sneezing and discharge from his nose. I spoke to my niece, her husband is a vet and was told get him antibiotics ASAP. Over the weekend, my cat got worse and I called and first spoke to a nurse, I can't remember her name, who was beyond rude, smirked and said "he'd just have to come back in". I called again and spoke to one of the receptionists who was very kind, and she tried everything she could to see about getting him antibiotics. She let me know there wasn't a doctor on that could provide him medicine, that I'd have to wait until Monday. (She also told me she would have Emily contact me immediately. Side note, I lost my wallet, someone (or ones) tried to use my cards which lead to canceling cards and getting new ones. This left me with a balance with VCA for my other cats)Emily was supposed to call me Monday, I didn't hear from her until Wednesday. She defended the doctors course of treatment. I informed her I took my cat to another vet, actually two vets came and checked on him and told her the vets informed me normal course of treatment for Feline Chlamydia is an eye topical and antibiotics for a month and that I shouldve been told to keep my cat away from the other cats as it's highly contagious. As I'm telling her this, she attempts to interrupt me saying the other vets are wrong. I said to her I came to VCA because the vets are supposed to know more than the customer, that I trusted Dr. Peterson to tell me everything that the other vets did and she failed. She continued to attempt to talk over me while I was still speaking and then had the audacity to accuse me of yelling and threatening to hang up on me.These are not people that care about pets. Emily does not care about my or any pets that come to VCA, she cares about the bottom line. The same I fear for Dr. Peterson who shouldve told me everything about her diagnosis for my cat, what I shouldve been looking out for, that I shouldve kept my cats apart and didn't. She wasn't interested in treating the source, she treated the symptoms so I'd come back and pay more. This is a horrible thing to do to a pet owner. If you care about your pets, avoid this place. They only care about their bottom line.IN RESPONSE TO REACHING OUT TO REVIEWS.VCA, I have reached out to Patty Wu President of VCA and Dr. Marie Kerl Chief Medical Officer for VCA. I urge everyone that has run into such horrific treatment to do the same.
Mar 07, 2025 · Katherine BaileyThis is a long overdue post to thank Dr. Wiese (and Brittany) for their excellent care of our dogs, but especially our dog Oreo. Oreo has been battling chronic heart failure for over two years and then suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We had scheduled a euthanasia appointment but brought him to see Dr. Wiese as she knows him and we wanted to get her professional opinion. Dr. Wiese spent A LOT of time with us, discussing options and examining oreo. I won’t go into all the details as I don’t want Oreo’s experience to give someone false hope about their dog, but she recommended a treatment, which resulted in him regaining the use of his back legs and really returning to ‘normal’. We know that this is temporary as he’s 15 and still battling CHF, but we now have a little more quality time with him and more importantly, he’s back to his happy self. So thank you Dr Wiese for taking the time to determine the best treatment option. And thanks to Brittany for being there through the entire appointment.
Jun 25, 2024 · Michelle ConradTerrible!! Over the last year I had two negative experiences with staff to the point where my dog is only afraid to go to this vet's office. I had to pull all medical records to take my pet to another vet you should do the same. If your pet is sick they will abandon you if you have common sense about the treatment plan and you are not willing to $$$$ for tests.
Aug 24, 2024 · Ursula CurryWHen our senior kitty was sick recently, the VCA doc called us every few days to see how we was doing. I wish my doctor would do that! She listened, and offered a variety of options for addressing the issues.
