Windcrest Animal Hospital Introduce
Hello, Delaware pet parents! When it comes to the health and well-being of our beloved animal companions, finding a veterinary practice that offers comprehensive, accessible, and compassionate care is paramount. In Wilmington, Windcrest Animal Hospital stands as a significant and well-established institution in the local pet care landscape. This facility aims to be a one-stop destination for a vast array of veterinary needs, from routine check-ups to specialized treatments and even 24/7 emergency care. With a commitment to advanced medical technology and a wide range of services, Windcrest Animal Hospital strives to provide high-quality care for pets of all shapes and sizes across Delaware.
Windcrest Animal Hospital has a long history of serving the Delaware community, and its reputation elicits varied feedback from clients. Many appreciate the "high-level care" provided, especially for challenging cases like a blind, deaf, and heart-medicated dog named Cooper, whose owners shifted all his vet care to Windcrest due to the "outstanding" attention he received in boarding. This speaks to the staff's dedication and capability in managing complex medical needs. The hospital is also lauded for its 24/7 emergency services, providing a crucial resource for pet owners during critical times. However, it's essential to acknowledge that some reviews highlight significant concerns, particularly regarding communication about billing and perceived misdiagnoses. One customer described a "worse experience ever" involving unexpected costs and a belief their dog was being treated incorrectly, leading to feelings of being held "hostage" until payment. The hospital's response to this review indicated a disagreement on the communication process. These contrasting experiences suggest that while the medical care and boarding services can be exceptional, it's vital for pet owners to have clear discussions about treatment plans and costs upfront at Windcrest, as with any comprehensive veterinary facility.

Windcrest Animal Hospital Reviews
Worse experience ever. $5600 for them to see my dog. Then told us that if any other cost would happen they would call to let us know. Spoke with the doctors multiple times over the last 2 days and nothing came up about need additional cost. Come to find out they were even treating my dog incorrectly and there was not even any issues with fluids in the lungs. Then when told we could come pick up our dog at anytime they hit us with another bill and said we will not release him until final payment is made. We never once were told about a having to pay more and not sure why because he was not being treated for the correct thing anyway. They hold your animals hostage until you pay that sounds like great service. I know everyone cares about their pets and wants the best for them but I would avoid this place at all cost if you can. They only truly care about is money and being paid.In response to themAs you can see I told you the only reason I paid was because you would not release my dog to me. It was not a threat or blackmail to refund me the $500.00 I have insurance it is principal thing that you would contact us by phone to go over any extra charges which never happened. I was going to leave this review no matter it I got the money back or not. This is just another reason of poor customer service and only caring about the money. My dog is not better because you misdiagnose him with pneumonia. But you guys would not have known that if I did not demand a second X-ray because the symptoms were not adding up. My dog is home because I paid you the extra money you a were demanding.
Jul 03, 2025 · Mike LowWe have used the Windcrest Animal Hospital boarding services for our dog Cooper over the past 5 years and based on the high-level care they provide, we recently shifted his vet care to Windcrest as well. Cooper is blind, deaf and on heart medications, so he is definitely challenging for the staff and they have all been outstanding!
Jul 01, 2025 · Vince McIntosh90 minutes. From the time I joined the emergency waiting list, until I was in my car heading home. Dr. McGough reviewed my dog’s history and current situation, performed a thorough exam and gave us a diagnosis and medication and advice to follow up with my regular vet for any testing she might need. Quick, no nonsense and did not break the bank with testing that was not immediately needed. The exam room was clean and the vet tech was friendly and knowledgable. We had a great experience! Hopefully, there won’t be another emergency soon, but I’m glad to know that the service is available.
Jun 17, 2025 · Leslie HarlessI am a life long client of Windcrest and would not trust my pets to anyone else. Last Friday, I brought my 15 year old kitty in for a sick appointment because she was not eating and very lethargic. Dr Namey did an exam on her and discovered she had a large mass in her abdomen. After an ultrasound and x-ray, she confirmed that my sweet Matilda had enlarged spleen, liver, lymph nodes and fluid in her lungs and around her abdomen. Devastating news. It was cancer. My kitty was jaundiced as well. Dr Namey was very compassionate, as she ALWAYS is with me, and explained everything in detail. Also, Heather, my tech was fantastic and showed she really cared about my Matilda. I opted to give her palliative care at home in hopes to make her final days a little happier. On Sunday night, around 10PM, she was having difficulty breathing with her mouth wide open. I called the ER and they told me to bring her right in. When I arrived, they took me right in (I was an emotional mess) and informed the Dr that I did not want my kitty to suffer any longer and made the decision to help her cross the rainbow bridge. The ER tech and ER Dr were wonderful and compassionate. Thank you to everyone at Windcrest for all you do for our furry families.
Aug 23, 2024 · Mary RighosToday, I unfortunately and unexpectedly had to put down my pet cockatiel that was with me for 15 years. Dr. Julian was amazing and helpful and compassionate. He helped me weigh the pros and cons of the situation and we decided together what the best decision was. As a brand new patient with an unfortunate outcome, it was everything someone asks for in a vet in this situation. Thank you so much for being there for us and we will definitely return with future birds.
