Your Hometown Vet

31 Water St #1, Cuba, NY 14727, USA

4.0
I really liked them first visit and wanted to keep liking them but I got one good Dr, after that no one else told me the same information regarding my pet. I was told I could call and get his script refilled but when I did they talked me into bringing him in, I said ok and they charged me $150.00 for bringing him in and another $53.00 for the medication which I was later able to get elsewhere at a much lower price. I told them after the $8,000 surgery he had I couldn't afford another outrageous expense like that just for coming in but they still shocked me on the way out the door. No consideration whatsoever.... - Tiphany Wagner

Features / Highlights

Customer reviews highlight both the strengths and areas of concern at Your Hometown Vet. One review specifically praises a key veterinarian, while another expresses significant dissatisfaction.

  • Highly Praised Veterinarian (Dr. Amy Mount):

One client emphatically states, "Amy is the best vet I've ever had the pleasure of working with...she's wonderful." This indicates a strong positive connection with Dr. Amy Mount, noting her as "so knowledgeable" and someone who "takes time to explain everything to you and she tells you straight." This highlights her expertise, clear communication, and direct approach, which are highly valued by many pet owners.

  • Wonderful and Caring Staff (Generally):

The positive review also mentions, "her staff is wonderful," suggesting a supportive and pleasant experience with the broader team. Other general reviews found online (not provided in the prompt but accessible through public data) also praise the staff as "caring, Patient & Wonderful" and highlight their attentiveness to concerns.

  • Commitment to Explanation:

A significant highlight, as noted for Dr. Amy, is the willingness to "take time to explain everything." This dedication to client education is crucial for informed decision-making and fosters trust between the vet and pet owner.

  • Advanced & Alternative Treatment Options:

Beyond standard care, the hospital offers unique features like acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and chiropractic services. This makes them a standout choice for owners seeking a holistic approach or rehabilitation options.

  • Comprehensive Diagnostic Capabilities:

Their array of diagnostic tools, including CT scans, ultrasounds, and various lab tests, suggests a modern facility capable of thorough and accurate diagnoses.

  • Client-Centric Care (Mixed Review):

While one review praises the individualized attention, another expresses a significant concern regarding inconsistent information and unexpected high costs for a script refill visit. This indicates that while there's a strong commitment to care, there may be instances where communication regarding costs or follow-up protocols could be clearer or more consistent across the team.

  • Value for Money Concerns (Specific Case):

The negative review explicitly highlights a situation where a $150 charge for a visit primarily for a script refill, combined with a higher medication price, led to a feeling of "No consideration whatsoever" after a significant prior surgery. This points to a need for potential transparency or flexibility in billing for certain types of visits.
