For those in the Whitehall area and across Pennsylvania considering adding a furry friend to their family, Canines-N-Critters is a pet store that may appear on your radar. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Canines-N-Critters, helping local users in Pennsylvania understand its offerings, location, and important considerations based on available public information, enabling them to make informed decisions about their pet-related needs.
Canines-N-Critters is conveniently located at 1988 Whitehall Mall, Whitehall Township, PA 18052, USA. This placement within the Whitehall Mall offers significant advantages in terms of accessibility. Being part of a major retail complex means easy navigation for visitors from Whitehall Township and surrounding areas in Lehigh County and beyond. The mall environment typically provides ample parking, which is a considerable convenience for customers, especially when visiting to see animals or pick up supplies. Its location within a well-known commercial hub ensures high visibility and straightforward access from various local roadways, making it a relatively easy destination for pet owners seeking new companions or pet-related products in the Pennsylvania region.
Canines-N-Critters appears to primarily function as a pet retail establishment, with a focus on selling live animals, particularly puppies, as well as offering a range of associated pet supplies. Based on the provided information, their services include:
- Sale of Live Puppies: The core of their business seems to involve offering puppies of various breeds for sale. This is explicitly mentioned in customer reviews, discussing prices and interactions with specific breeds like Corgis.
- Sale of Pet Supplies: As a pet store, it is highly probable that they also sell a variety of pet supplies essential for new pet owners. This would typically include starter kits, food, bowls, leashes, collars, beds, and toys necessary for puppies and potentially other small animals they might offer.
- Guidance on Pet Ownership (with considerations): While one customer review expresses dissatisfaction regarding advice on dog temperament with children and other pets, it indicates that the store does engage in discussions with customers about pet suitability. However, prospective buyers should exercise caution and conduct their own research on breed characteristics and individual pet behavior, especially when relying solely on in-store advice.
- Animal Housing and Display: The store provides an environment for puppies to be housed and viewed by potential customers. Reviews mention puppies being in the store for several months, suggesting an extended stay for some animals.
Based on customer reviews, several features and highlights can be gleaned about Canines-N-Critters, both positive aspects and crucial points for consideration.
- Convenient Mall Location: Being situated within the Whitehall Mall is a practical highlight, offering easy access and ample parking for visitors. This makes it a convenient stop for those already at the mall or specifically seeking a pet store.
- Variety of Puppy Breeds (Implied): While specific breeds aren't extensively listed, the mention of a Corgi suggests a range of puppy breeds might be available, offering choice to potential buyers.
- Overall Cleanliness: One reviewer notes, "The establishment has overall cleanliness," which is a positive aspect for any animal-focused business, indicating a well-maintained environment for the animals.
- Critical Considerations Regarding Animal Behavior and Sales Practices: However, several significant concerns are raised by customer reviews that potential buyers should be acutely aware of:
- Misinformation on Temperament: A severe concern is highlighted by a customer who was allegedly misinformed about a dog's suitability with children and small animals. The dog reportedly exhibited aggressive behavior towards children and attempted to harm a cat shortly after purchase, leading to an unsustainable living situation. This suggests a potential disconnect between information provided and actual animal behavior, which can have profound and dangerous consequences.
- High Pricing and Lengthy Stays: Reviewers consistently point to "way over priced" puppies, especially given that some "puppies have been in there for 3-4 months" and are "already almost four months old." This raises questions about the pricing model and the welfare implications of puppies spending extended periods in a retail environment rather than being placed in homes earlier. One reviewer explicitly states, "Absolutely insane. You would be better off rescuing a puppy or purchasing from a more reputable breeder for a much lower cost. Truly disappointing."
- Staff Conduct and Puppy Handling: Concerns are raised about staff being "quite disrespectful, and are hovering when you pet the puppies." Furthermore, the policy of not allowing customers to "reprimand the puppies for biting you or playing too rough" while observing "snippy behaviors" is noted as problematic. The specific example of a Corgi puppy exhibiting "too aggressive unfortunately from being in the store for way too long, and being untrained" suggests potential issues with early socialization and training of animals within the store environment.
- Ethical Sourcing and Rearing (Implied Concerns): While not explicitly stated, the combination of high prices, long stays, and behavioral issues in puppies raises questions that often lead consumers to consider the ethical sourcing practices of pet stores and whether the puppies are receiving adequate early socialization and training crucial for their development.

In conclusion, for local users in Pennsylvania considering a visit to Canines-N-Critters in Whitehall Township, the store offers the convenience of a mall location and provides access to various puppies and pet supplies. However, it is crucial for prospective pet owners to approach their visit with a high degree of diligence and caution. While the establishment maintains cleanliness, significant concerns raised by customer reviews regarding misinformation about animal temperament, seemingly high pricing for puppies (especially those that have been in the store for extended periods), and perceived issues with staff conduct and puppy behavior during interactions, warrant careful consideration. For those dedicated to responsible pet acquisition and seeking a harmonious integration of a new pet into their family, it is highly recommended to conduct independent research on breed characteristics, consider behavioral training needs, and explore all options for pet adoption or purchasing from reputable, transparent breeders. While Canines-N-Critters is physically present as a local option, the provided customer experiences highlight the importance for Pennsylvania residents to exercise thorough due diligence before making a significant commitment to a new pet from this specific establishment.

Canines-N-Critters Reviews
They lie to sell dogs here i asked if the dog i wa a buying would be good with kids and small animals they said yes. So I got the dog the dog attacked my children multiple times to the point where I couldn't keep the children on the same floor level as the dog and she tried to kill my cat multiple times in less than a week.
May 13, 2025 · Babi BratzkoThe establishment has overall cleanliness, but the prices for the puppies are way over priced. Especially when the puppies have been in there for 3-4 months. Additionally, when you are getting to know the puppies, the staff are quite disrespectful, and are hovering when you pet the puppies. They do not allow you to reprimand the puppies for biting you or playing too rough, so be cautious of snippy behaviors from certain puppies. Specifically, we were looking at a corgi, and as being a “herding dog breed” it is in their genetics to be a little more “sharky”, but this puppy was being too aggressive unfortunately from being in the store for way too long, and being untrained. The puppy is already almost four months old and they still wanted $2,400. Absolutely insane. You would be better off rescuing a puppy or purchasing from a more reputable breeder for a much lower cost. Truly disappointing.

Feb 09, 2020 · Scott (SS105)A lot of the reviews are saying they are from puppy Mills, but I don't know if that is true, so I'm not going to base this review on that. Some of the puppies were tired, but that's normal for most small puppies that are only a few months old. They are cramped in the boxes which I think need to be expanded. Other than that, they seemed like happy puppies. They are super friendly and will even nibble on your fingers. None of them looked thin, seemed well fed, and overall seemed like most pet stores.
Jun 10, 2018 · S jTbh the staff in this location is rude, my Fiance and I was interested in a dog they have (we bought a dog from them before) and she asked them some simple questions because the puppy we were looking at had a really dry noise and my fiance works with dogs and does dog sitting and whoever wrote the email back to her was extremely rude and kept saying ALSO in every sentence and told her how we are against pet shops, but yet she asked a simple question, and like I said before, we bought our dog from there before, Seems like we got someone butthurt. Looks like you can't ask a simple question.
