This guide is dedicated to providing an in-depth look at 24/7 PetVets, an emergency and urgent care veterinary clinic serving the Fresno community. Understanding the nature of their services, their accessibility, and the experiences of other local pet owners is crucial for anyone preparing for or facing a pet health crisis in the Central Valley.
24/7 PetVets, as its name suggests, aims to provide continuous veterinary care, specializing in emergency and urgent situations for pets in the Fresno area. In moments of panic when a beloved animal is in distress, a clinic that is always open and ready to receive critical cases can be a lifeline. This facility is designed to address immediate health concerns that cannot wait for regular clinic hours, ranging from sudden injuries to acute illnesses. For local residents in California, having access to such a service means that professional medical attention for their pets is available regardless of the time of day or night. This article will delve into the services offered by 24/7 PetVets, highlighting what pet owners can expect when seeking care during critical times, based on available public information and customer experiences. Navigating pet emergencies can be incredibly stressful, and being informed about local options is the first step toward effective and timely care.
24/7 PetVets is conveniently located at 1639 N Fresno St, Fresno, CA 93703, USA. This address places the emergency and urgent care clinic in a relatively central and accessible part of Fresno, making it reachable for pet owners across various neighborhoods within the city and from surrounding communities in the Central Valley. North Fresno Street is a known thoroughfare, which aids in straightforward navigation, particularly important during stressful emergency situations.
Accessibility is paramount for an emergency veterinary clinic. Being centrally located means that the clinic is generally within a reasonable driving distance for many residents, which can be critical when time is of the essence. While specific details about parking facilities are not explicitly provided, locations on main streets typically offer some form of parking, either dedicated lots or street parking, aiming to facilitate quick access for pet drop-offs. The nature of a "24/7" facility means that it is always operational, ensuring that pet owners have a destination for immediate care at any hour, day or night. This constant availability, coupled with its central Fresno location, significantly enhances its accessibility for the local California pet-owning community facing unforeseen animal health crises.
As an emergency and urgent care veterinary clinic, 24/7 PetVets focuses on providing immediate medical attention for critical and time-sensitive pet health issues. While a comprehensive list of all services may vary, generally, clinics of this nature offer:
- Emergency and Critical Care: This is the core service, addressing sudden illnesses, accidents, injuries, and life-threatening conditions that require immediate veterinary intervention. This can include trauma, poisoning, severe allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, seizures, and more.
- Urgent Care: For conditions that are serious but not immediately life-threatening, such as persistent vomiting or diarrhea, minor injuries, or sudden lameness, which still require prompt attention outside of regular clinic hours.
- Diagnostics: Rapid diagnostic capabilities are crucial in emergencies. This typically includes in-house laboratory services (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), digital radiography (X-rays), and potentially ultrasound to quickly identify the underlying cause of a pet's distress.
- Emergency Surgery: Preparedness to perform immediate surgical procedures for conditions like foreign body removal, wound repair, internal bleeding, or other emergencies requiring surgical intervention.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Hospitalization: Facilities for continuous monitoring and intensive care for critically ill or injured pets requiring extended hospitalization.
- Pain Management: Immediate and effective pain relief strategies for pets suffering from injuries or post-surgical discomfort.
- Emergency Pharmacy: An in-house pharmacy stocked with essential medications for immediate dispensing in critical situations.
- Stabilization and Referral: Providing immediate stabilization for severe cases and, if necessary, facilitating referrals to specialized veterinary centers for long-term or highly specialized care once the pet is stable.
It is important to note that while 24/7 PetVets handles emergencies, the specific approach to care and billing may vary, as highlighted in some public feedback. Pet owners are always advised to contact the clinic directly, if possible, for specific information regarding their pet's condition and the services that can be provided.
24/7 PetVets, as an emergency and urgent care clinic in Fresno, presents a mixed set of features and highlights based on public feedback.
- 24/7 Availability: As the name suggests, a primary highlight is its constant operation, providing round-the-clock availability for pet emergencies and urgent care needs, which is crucial for pet owners outside of regular veterinary hours.
- Friendly Staff (for some): One positive review mentions that the staff were "pretty friendly from what I observed. Not just to me, but to other patients as well." This suggests a generally welcoming atmosphere in non-critical scenarios.
- Caring Handling of Pets (for some): The veterinarian handling newborn kittens was described as "pretty cool and handled them with care," indicating a gentle approach to sensitive cases.
- Effective Treatment Outcomes (for some): For the newborn kittens with eye infections, the procedure was "excellent" and resulted in the babies looking "100% better," with clear aftercare instructions, and their eyes opening successfully within three days. This showcases effective medical intervention in specific cases.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge significant and concerning negative feedback that contrasts sharply with the positive experiences:
- Lack of Urgency and Immediate Help (Alleged in emergencies): A critical review states, "If your pet needs fast, life-saving care—this is not the place." It alleges a significant absence of urgency or immediate help during a critical emergency, implying a focus on administrative processes over immediate patient needs.
- Pressure for High-Cost Options / Financial Prioritization (Alleged): A major concern raised is the alleged pressure for a "single high-cost option" without flexibility, leading to the conclusion that "unless you can afford their way, there is no way." This suggests a "cold, transactional approach" where "time and empathy were everything" but cost was prioritized.
- Absence of Compassion in Critical Moments (Alleged): The most severe criticism points to a "complete absent" sense of urgency and a lack of compassion during a terrifying and critical moment for a pet and its family. The review states, "It’s clear this clinic doesn’t truly care about animals—only money."
- Pet Owners Forced to Seek Care Elsewhere: Due to the alleged lack of urgency and financial inflexibility, a pet owner had to leave and find care elsewhere, successfully saving their pet, highlighting a potential failure of 24/7 PetVets in critical emergency situations.
These conflicting accounts suggest that while the clinic may provide satisfactory care for certain routine or less critical urgent issues, there are profound and alarming concerns regarding their approach to time-sensitive, life-threatening emergencies, particularly concerning financial discussions and the perceived lack of immediate, compassionate intervention. Prospective clients should carefully consider both types of feedback.
For those in the Fresno area needing to contact 24/7 PetVets for emergency or urgent veterinary care, the following contact details are available:
Address: 1639 N Fresno St, Fresno, CA 93703, USA
Phone: (559) 486-0520
Mobile Phone: +1 559-486-0520
Given the nature of emergency veterinary care, it is always advisable to call ahead, if possible, to inform them of your pet's condition and your estimated arrival time. This allows the staff to prepare for your pet's specific needs. However, in true life-threatening emergencies, direct arrival is often necessary. Pet owners should be prepared to discuss financial considerations upon arrival, as this has been a point of feedback for the clinic.
For residents of Fresno, California, facing a pet emergency or urgent health concern, 24/7 PetVets presents itself as an option for around-the-clock veterinary care. Its defining feature, as its name suggests, is its 24/7 availability, which is undeniably crucial for pet owners when their regular veterinarian is closed. The clinic's central location at 1639 N Fresno St further enhances its accessibility for many in the community, allowing for relatively quick transport of pets in distress.
For certain types of urgent, but perhaps not immediately life-threatening, situations, or for specific procedures, 24/7 PetVets may be suitable. The positive review regarding the treatment of newborn kittens with eye infections highlights instances where the staff and veterinarian were perceived as friendly, caring, and delivered effective medical outcomes, allowing the kittens to recover and thrive. This suggests that for cases where there isn't an immediate, critical time pressure, and the pet's condition allows for a more standard consultation and treatment process, the clinic can provide satisfactory care.
However, it is absolutely paramount for local pet owners in California to be fully aware of the significant and alarming concerns raised in other customer experiences. The severe negative feedback, particularly concerning life-threatening emergencies, paints a picture of a clinic that allegedly prioritizes financial discussions and "single high-cost options" over immediate, life-saving intervention. The accusations of a "cold, transactional approach," lack of urgency, and absence of compassion during critical moments are profoundly troubling. The experience of a pet owner being forced to leave and seek care elsewhere due to these alleged practices, with critical time ticking away, underscores a potential fundamental flaw in their emergency care protocol for some cases.
Therefore, while 24/7 PetVets fills a crucial need for round-the-clock availability in Fresno, its suitability for locals comes with a stark dichotomy. It may serve adequately for certain urgent, but non-critical, situations where a pet owner has time to discuss options and costs. However, for true, fast-paced, life-threatening emergencies where immediate, unconditional care and compassion are paramount, the highly critical reviews suggest that pet owners should exercise extreme caution. Locals considering 24/7 PetVets for critical care should be prepared to discuss financial arrangements upfront and potentially consider alternative options or have a backup plan in place, as the experiences of some indicate that the clinic might not consistently provide the rapid, empathetic, and flexible response expected in life-or-death situations. It is vital for pet owners to weigh these contrasting experiences carefully when making critical decisions for their beloved companions.

24/7 PetVets Reviews
I brought my newborn kittens that both got an eye infection. They took me in. They were pretty friendly from what I observed. Not just to me, but to other patients as well. The Vet that took my babies was pretty cool and handled them with care. She even knew the reference of where their names came from.Babies got their procedure done and came back looking 100% better! Aftercare instructions were clear and I'm so happy my babies get to keep their eyesight! Excellent job! I don't do reviews, but this meant the world to me.Update: It's been 3 days since my visit and the babies eyes are open. They are responding well to the meds and it feels like they've gotten a little growth spurt after getting better!
Apr 07, 2025 · JM LopezIf your pet needs fast, life-saving care—this is not the place. My sister brought her dog in during a critical emergency, and instead of immediate help, she was met with pressure and a single high-cost option. No flexibility. No urgency. Just business as usual while precious time ticked away. She had to leave and find care elsewhere—and thank God she did. The second vet acted quickly, offered real options, and her dog is now recovering. But those lost hours could have cost her everything. This clinic made it painfully clear: unless you can afford their way, there is no way. When time matters, that can be deadly. It’s clear this clinic doesn’t truly care about animals—only money. In one of the most critical and terrifying moments, they chose to focus on cost instead of the animal, and any sense of urgency was completely absent. There was no compassion, no flexibility—just a cold, transactional approach when time and empathy were everything. Pets and their families deserve better.
Apr 23, 2025 · Cindy RaymondExtremely disappointed… Prioritizing profit over pet care… I would not recommend this place. My experience with 24/7 PetVets made it very clear that their priority is money, not the well-being of your pet. Instead of discussing treatment options, I was told they would only help my dog if I agreed to a 24-hour hospitalization, with a minimum cost of $3k. No flexibility, no alternatives, just take it or leave it.Thankfully, I went to another veterinary office that offered me FOUR different treatment options and worked with me to find the best plan for my dog’s needs. I’m relieved to say she’s now recovering comfortably at home, no thanks to 24/7 PetVets.Save your time, your money, and most importantly, your pet’s well-being… go somewhere else.
Apr 23, 2025 · Denise CastroDespite having been here for an unfortunate event pet vets made it a less difficult time. They were amazing with my dog—really calm and reassuring the whole time. I appreciated how they explained everything in detail and kept me updated with periodic check-ins. They genuinely seemed interested in my dog’s well-being, even following up with a call to see how she was doing after she was out of their care. It made such a difference knowing she was in good hands. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a place that truly cares about pets! Here’s my dog just a week after being in there care!
Mar 19, 2025 · Roy FI’m not one to typically leave poor or anything less than 3 star reviews but I’m honestly disgusted and just wanted to wait til my dog was properly cared for.About 8:30 am this morning I discovered my dog ingested roach bait tablets with boric acid in them. I immediately began googling the closest open emergency vet. I had taken one of my animals here before so I tried calling and was asked to be put on hold. I didn’t want to waste time so I hopped in my car and came here. Upon arrival, I got into the lobby and reception was assisting another person who seemed like they were putting their animal to rest, so I waited to be acknowledged by reception instead of being rude. The only question reception asked me is if I had been there before. I said yes but not for this dog. I expected her to ask if my pet was facing a life threatening emergency or to request for back up. Neither happened. A gentlemen’s came in shortly after that and reception asked him if he had a pet with him. He explained that he called the night before about a severely injured dog he found the night before. Reception immediately began to make calls to assst him, as she should. That is is when I stepped in and said I wanted to let them know I am here because my dog ingested roach bait containing boric acid. She then asked me if I called and spoke with them before coming in or spoke with poison control. I said no and no. She handed me a piece of paper and said I need to call them before they can do anything.I then sat on a phone line for another 20 minutes with an online consult vet which I paid $85 dollars for just for them to tell me my dog just needs an anti nausea injection. 15 minutes later the receptionist at 24/7 pets finally started to enter our information and to get into the room. I got to the vet about 9am, As of 11:20 my dog had not been given his anti nausea injection. I will say I am very happy my dog was not dying or that my situation was not as severe. I came here because of the severity of the situation. If I would’ve known, I would’ve drove to a vet across town where I was guaranteed to get in and out within an hour with no appointment. Instead, I chose to drive him to the closest place that had 1 other person in front of me when I got here. The lobby was completely quiet and empty. The whole building is veryquiet. I wasn’t checked in on. My dog wasn’t kept monitored after having a 103 fever and disclosed that he threw up upon arrival. Don’t bring your animals here for an emergency. I wrote this review while waiting. It’s 11:33 they barely just came in to give him the injection
