★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Blue, our family lab, was bitten in the face by a Copperhead snake. We noticed swelling and brought him into the Emergency Clinic. We were promptly seen after a minimal amount of paperwork (the clinic actually had all my information on file from 10 years ago) by two vets that both determined it was a dry bite due to the amount of swelling. We decided an overnight stay was best. He was happy and cared for by the whole staff. It was a spa night for him to chill and entertain the techs - he played fetch and was given belly rubs . He even received cheddar cheese snacks with our permission. The Hoogland family is very happy Shreveport/Bossier has such a fine facility. Thank you, Valerie Hoogland
July 22 · Valerie HooglandOur sweet Karelian Bear Dog recently had a series of seizures and had to be hospitalized at the Animal Emergency Clinic. The veterinarians and staff were so caring and efficient with our baby every night for week while diagnostics were done and medication was started. We are so grateful for their services, without them our dog likely would not be here today. Thank you for all you do! You provide an invaluable service to our community!
April 13 · Colleen LaBordeDuring one of the most painful nights of our lives, the team at Animal Emergency Clinic showed us and our beloved dog the utmost compassion and care. When we brought him in, they responded quickly and gently, doing everything they could to help. Sadly, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go. Through every step, the staff treated our dog with dignity and made sure we felt supported, informed, and never alone. What meant so much to us was the beautiful sympathy card we received afterward, along with a paw print keepsake. That simple gesture brought comfort in the midst of our grief and reminded us how deeply the team cares—not just for the animals, but for the families who love them.A very special thank you to Dr. Cavender, Matt, and the entire team for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism. We will always be grateful for the gentle way you helped us say goodbye to our sweet boy, Tuxedo.
May 05 · No MoeI can not say enough good things about the staff and doctors here! Not only were they phenomenal in their care of my pet but they loved and cared for him as if he was their own. Also, as I was a complete emotional wreck (which I'm guessing was written all over my face) they were extra empathetic and compassionate with me and all my questions, assuring me that he was in great hands. Understandably nobody ever WANTS to go to an emergency vet, but if you find yourself in a position where you need one the Animal Emergency Clinic on Line Ave is the best place to go!
July 09 · Brian ScottIts taken me a few months to write this review after losing my heart and soul, our beutiful, smart, loving, special, 4 yr old Great Dane, Clayton. Clayton was playing in our yard and was attacked by a feral cat. We noticed 24-hours later he wasnt eating, develoiped a high fever, and eventually couldnt stand. I rushed him to the vet and that evening there was no improvement. In Texarkana, TX there are no local emergency vets and no vets with weekend hours. We were referred to the Emergency Clinic in Shrevesport. I called and explained his condition and told the receptionist we would be arriving, I asked their prices for emergency visits, knowing that they can be very expensive. it was almost a 2 hour drive, it was very late, and it took 4 adults to get Clayton into our vehicle, he was unable to stand and was disoriented. When I arrived I immediately ran insode and told them he was not doing well. We waited almost an hour for the tech to come out and then the vet to sedate him so they could get him on a stretcher and bring him inside. They had to give him multiple injections and finally got him inside the clinic. I was told it would be a little bit and the doctor would be out once they knew anything. This was my 1st red flag.....I went to the reception to ask where I could go grab something to eat or a coffee and was told I was not allowed to leave, when I asked why I was told people run out on their bill and leave their pets! Seriously? I was then told that they have cameras around the building. After another hour I was brought into a small room met by a tech and an estimate. I was told that to treat Clayton it would be over $3,200.00! And when I asked to see the estimate she resisited but let me see it. I immediately questioned why so many charges for things that were completely unnecessary, inclding a charge for a shock collar!! When I asked WTH that was for I was told it was used to keep the dogs calm and prevent them from pulling out their IV. Seriously!! My dog is barely conscious and they want to use a shock collar. AND charge me for it. After calling in the doctor and another 45 minutes they took almost 1/2 of the charges off the bill. After discussing the treatment plan of antibiotics to get his fever down, IV fluids, and draining the abcess from the cat attack, and realizing he would need to spend the night I decided to head home and come back in the monring. Did I mention I was not allowed to see him? I was shocked to learn that I needed to pay the bill in full... before they trated him, and before I left. 100% in full!. I told them I was not prepared to pay the full bill that evening, I would pay a third and settle the balance when I come back in the morning. I was told absolutely not. I either find a way to pay or I will need to get Clayton back in my vehicle and drive him 2 hours back home, untreated. AND it was midnight!I have NEVER had a vet demand payment before treating my pet and hold me hostage in their facility until I do. And when I asked why I wasnt told about this opractice BEFORE I came I was not given an answer. I had to wake up a family member to use their credit card to pay the entire bill. nd as I was leasving I was reminded the cutoff time before additional charges would be incurred. The next morning I called first thing to see how Clayton was doing. I was told his fever broke, he was more alert, but still slightly sedated, but the prognosis looked good. I was thrilled. After sopeaking with the doctor I decided to extend his stay a bit to be sure he was improving and able to comne home or if he neded to stay another night. A few hours later the doctor called me and said Clayton hd passed away, his heart had stopped and they were so sorry. I never got to see him, never got to comfort him, or say goodbye. This was not only my worst ngihtmare, but the absolute worst expeience I have ever had. Things didnt have tio happen like this. I didnt even get to say goodbye. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT take your pets here!!
