Animal Emergency Hospital specializes in providing critical and urgent veterinary care, offering a range of services tailored to acute medical needs. Their capabilities are geared towards handling emergencies and providing advanced monitoring.
- Urgent and Emergency Care: As their name suggests, their primary service is immediate care for pets facing sudden illnesses, injuries, or other critical conditions that cannot wait for a regular vet appointment. This includes rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of emergent cases.
- Overnight Post-Surgery Monitoring: They offer specialized overnight monitoring for pets recovering from surgeries, particularly complex procedures like splenectomies. This service provides continuous professional oversight, ensuring pets are stable and comfortable during the critical post-operative period, which is invaluable for owners who may be anxious about leaving their pets. As one client noted, their 13-year-old chocolate lab received excellent overnight monitoring after a splenectomy, providing immense peace of mind.
- Comprehensive Treatment Plans: Upon admission, the veterinary team develops and implements thorough treatment plans. This involves administering necessary medications, fluids, and other interventions required to stabilize and improve the pet's condition.
- Diagnostics: While not explicitly detailed, an emergency hospital setting would inherently include rapid diagnostic capabilities such as blood work, imaging (X-rays, ultrasound), and other tests to quickly identify the cause of an emergency.
- Pain Management: Ensuring the comfort of pets in distress is a priority, and effective pain management is a key component of their care, particularly for post-surgical patients or those with injuries.
- Communication with Primary Veterinarians: A critical service highlight is their proactive communication with a pet's regular vet. This ensures a seamless transfer of information regarding diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care, taking the burden off pet owners to remember complex clinical terms and details during stressful times.
- Humane Euthanasia and Compassionate Support: In difficult situations where humane euthanasia becomes the necessary decision, they provide immense compassion and allow ample time for owners to say goodbye to their beloved pets, as demonstrated by the experience of a client with their 15-year-old dog, Dino. This sensitive approach during a time of grief is deeply appreciated by families.
Animal Emergency Hospital offers several distinctive features and highlights that underscore their commitment to exceptional emergency veterinary care and compassionate client service.
- Expert and Knowledgeable Staff: Clients consistently praise the staff for being "friendly and knowledgeable." The veterinarians and technicians are highly skilled in emergency medicine, providing competent and effective care even in high-stress situations. Their ability to thoroughly explain conditions and answer questions, as highlighted by a client whose dog underwent a splenectomy, builds crucial trust.
- Designed for Comfort: The hospital itself is thoughtfully "designed and decorated to provide a comfortable tone." This attention to atmosphere helps to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety for both pets and their owners during emergency visits, creating a more soothing environment than one might expect from an urgent care facility.
- Exceptional Communication Protocols: A significant highlight is their proactive communication with primary veterinarians. They take the initiative to communicate directly with a pet's regular vet, ensuring all relevant clinical terms and details are accurately transferred. This eliminates the burden on distraught pet owners to relay complex medical information, a detail that "did not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated."
- Personalized and Empathetic Care: The staff go the extra mile to provide personalized care, such as making notes of specific words used to communicate with a pet, as experienced by the owner of the chocolate lab. This level of attentiveness demonstrates a deep empathy for the animals and their unique personalities.
- Profound Compassion in Difficult Times: In moments of profound grief, such as humane euthanasia, the hospital's compassionate approach shines through. The grateful testimony regarding Dino's passing, where the staff allowed ample time for goodbyes and showed immense understanding, highlights their commitment to supporting families through their hardest moments. This sensitive care is invaluable.
- Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities: Reviewers consistently note that the "building was clean," indicating a high standard of hygiene and organization, which is crucial for a medical environment.

Animal Emergency Hospital Reviews
We took our 13 year old chocolate lab for overnight post surgery monitoring after having a splenectomy. She does everything with my husband and I and she likes to be involved in anything going on. We don’t crate her and was very worried about how she’d handle us leaving her overnight although we knew it was best for her recovery. After admitting her and speaking with the techs and doctor we left there feeling confident she would be well taken care of. We were very impressed with the facilities and staff. The hospital itself is designed and decorated to provide a comfortable tone. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor took her time to talk with us and answer any questions. She even made notes of some of the words we use to communicate with our dog. They communicated with our vet so the pressure wasn’t on us to remember and know all the clinical terms, and details. Of course when you’re taking your furry loved one to an animal hospital, it’s not under good circumstances, so every little thing matters. You can tell they put effort into all those little things and it did not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated.
Apr 14, 2025 · Kerry AmeyI took my pets to Animal emergency hospital in Bel Air and the staff was so nice, the building was clean and the care they provide for our animals was nothing less than the care that we would give them at home. In the end we did have to humanely euthanize our 15-year-old dog but it was the right decision. They allowed us to spend as much time with him as we wanted which I am so grateful for. Compassion in times like those is greatly appreciated. I greatly appreciate you guys for everything you did for Dino.
May 20, 2025 · Joequetta CoatesI had to take in my 10 week old puppy after he had suffered from a fall. The staff was amazing.Appointment ease: They were able to get me an appointment immediately & checked-in prior to arriving, so that his exam could begin as soon as we got there.Communication: I was made aware of everything happening & costs associated with each treatment or test.Cost: Like any emergency room visit (even those for humans), it’s a little bit more pricey than if you were to go to your normal doctor. One of the best parts is that they were able to use my Trupanion direct bill insurance.Cleanliness: The waiting area and rooms were all clean and in decent condition.Aftercare: I love that they put your aftercare instructions and any medication, if you may need it, in a cute little take home bag. I also like that they call within a few days to check on the status of your pet. They were also able to send over all visit information to my primary vet, so that when I took him for a follow up visit with his normal doctor, they already had everything in his file.Staff: All staff members from front desk to the doctors were kind, patient, informative, and overall fantastic.
Feb 17, 2025 · Morgan JohnsonThis past weekend was my first time having to go to an animal hospital. My girl broke her dewclaw and the bleeding scared me so much. I registered her online around 5:30pm on Saturday, took her early around 6:30/6:45 and she was taken back at 8:15. It felt like forever of course, but she was stable in my arms, so the wait wasn’t bad at all. The primary waiting area was clean and quiet and you could see what animals were being placed in which rooms on the board. I was put in a seperate waiting room away from the other pets and owners a few minutes after she was taken back. The doctors and techs (I guess?) were VERY nice and comforting to me, explained the procedure she needed, the medications, and what the pain she was feeling would be like for a human. I got the estimate, consented and they were on their way to taking care of my girl. The visit fee was $150 and I paid what I feel like was a very fair price on top of it for her pain medicine, e-collar, anesthetic, nail filing and the removal of the broken claw. I got to take her home a little before 10pm. It’s now Tuesday and she’s completely back to her normal self. Trying to contain her energetic butt is my only struggle now. They gave great and clear discharge instructions on how to prevent infection and help her heal as quick as possible. I know they were good to her because she is such an anxious girl and even in pain she was trying to love up on everyone. Can’t thank you all enough for helping my sweet girl and me through a scary first for us!
Feb 19, 2025 · Casey FitchGreat experience. I think that the staff at the hospital gave great care to my dog Ringo and was able to recover. We were able to transport him to the cardiac Care unit in Hunt valley and they were able to stabilize him and we brought him home. We are so very happy to both hospitals for their assistance in helping to get our pet well. Hoping he will continue to recover and live a longer happier life. Thank you ☺️!
