If I could give this Vet negative stars I would. My daughter and her husband just had to put their Great Dane to sleep. They were very unprofessional, no rear door access. They had to carry the poor baby through the waiting area. She was completely immobile, the scale was not working and she was super uncomfortable, the owners had to keep moving the her so they could try to get the scale to work. They are not at all compassionate about their job. Not a surprise when they took her to the vet a couple months ago and the vet called the Great Dane a train reck. Places like this should not be in business. - Melanie Blevins

Wakefield Animal Hospital, like any established veterinary practice, likely possesses several features and highlights that are important to pet owners. Drawing from the provided customer feedback, we can discern some key aspects, both positive and areas for potential improvement, that contribute to its overall profile.

Features / Highlights:

  • Experienced and Dedicated Veterinary Staff: The glowing tribute to Dr. Mary Kirk and the staff in one review highlights a team capable of providing "compassionate, expert care" over many years, indicating a consistent level of professionalism and skill.
  • Long-term Patient Relationships: The extensive testimonial about "Jahen Chap Anderson" underscores the hospital's capacity to build enduring relationships with pet families, providing care through various life stages and challenges.
  • Compassionate Care (as noted by some clients): While there is conflicting feedback, the positive review emphasizes a deep level of kindness and understanding, particularly during challenging times.
  • Local Community Integration: Being a local practice, Wakefield Animal Hospital serves as an integral part of the Peach Bottom and surrounding Pennsylvania communities, offering convenient access to veterinary services.

It is crucial to acknowledge and address all feedback for a balanced perspective. One significant negative review details a highly distressing experience during an end-of-life situation for a Great Dane, citing unprofessionalism, lack of rear door access for a large, immobile dog, issues with equipment (scale), and a perceived lack of compassion, including an insensitive remark about the pet. This highlights a critical area where the hospital's procedures and empathy could be improved, particularly in sensitive situations like euthanasia. Potential clients should consider discussing specific needs, especially for large or immobile pets, and express any concerns about handling procedures beforehand.
