Receptionist was very nice and got me in when I called, but when I got there everything else was just nonsense. I brought my new puppy to this clinic and honestly the service wasn’t the best. Their system was down so they couldn’t give an X-ray, which was fine, but that came with the exam. At the end she came in for payment and it was $140, I asked her if this was the correct price as I didn’t get the full exam because of their system being down. She went to go ask and when she came back in she stated that I told the vet I didn’t want the exam! Which didn’t make sense to me, but then she said the price was actually $200! At this point I was frustrated and I just paid and left. Unprofessional and no communication whatsoever.

I have received the best care for my dog here. My dog tore his ACL, and they were recommended. He ended up getting both legs done eventually. He has the best vet. He received great care. The rehab facility is amazing as well. I will not take him anywhere else. They have the nicest, friendliest staff.

On May 30, 2025, we visited this clinic twice in one day due to a sudden and severe emergency with our dog. At our second visit around 5 PM, we were assured that if his condition worsened, we could call an emergency line that would be staffed until midnight. We were told a vet would return our call within 5–10 minutes.Unfortunately, around 10:05 PM, our dog went into respiratory distress and we made that call — but no one ever called us back.With no support from a clinic we had trusted for nearly 20 years, we had no choice but to take our dog elsewhere. Sadly, he passed away a few hours later. While we understand that the outcome may not have changed, being left without guidance in such a critical moment was heartbreaking.What hurts most is knowing that after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent at this practice, we were met with silence when we needed help the most. That night made it clear that we could no longer trust this clinic with our pets’ care.We’ve since found a compassionate and responsive veterinary team in North Ridgeville who made us feel seen, heard, and supported — everything this clinic failed to do.I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone, and I will no longer be bringing my other dog here, even if it means driving much farther for care that truly puts animals first.

If your dog needs BOAS surgery, I HIGHLY recommend Avon Lake Animal Clinic. The results are amazing! Very fair pricing for the soft palette and nasal surgery. Dr. Wamelink did a fantastic job from start to finish, answering any questions I had. She was very kind and so was the entire staff at the clinic. Whenever I called with a worry during his recovery, they were quick to get back to me even after hours and check him out.

Visited the day before my 10 month old $2,000 ragdoll kitten passed away. The doctor he was in great condition & complimented him but gave no reason as to why he isn’t eating. She gave me some meds to increase his appetite. No additional info or recommendation on their end. Called the emergency line a few hours later as his conditions worsened. Same info was given after being put on hold, “keep giving him the appetite stimulant”. He passed a few hours later. The clinic called me to check how he was doing a few days later & had to hold my tears back and let them know he is now dead. Asked to speak with the manager for a refund to at the very least cover the financial burden. The receptionist said the manager would call me. Manager never called as you can guess. Now I’m left heartbroken & very frustrated at the lack of assistance. Would never recommend this place to anyone.
