Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
When it comes to the health and happiness of your pets, Texans want a veterinary partner they can trust implicitly. Situated conveniently in Plano, Banfield Pet Hospital is a go-to destination for comprehensive animal care. This clinic is not just a place for quick visits; it is a full-service animal hospital and veterinary pharmacy designed to support your pet through every stage of their life. With a wide range of services, a focus on preventive care, and a team committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, Banfield strives to be the reliable resource you and your furry family members need. They offer everything from routine check-ups and vaccinations to complex surgical procedures and emergency services, providing a one-stop solution for a wide variety of pet health needs.
A key part of Banfield's philosophy is empowering pet owners with knowledge and providing a streamlined healthcare experience. Their on-site pharmacy makes it easy to get pet prescriptions and other necessary medications without a separate trip. Additionally, they are known for offering various wellness plans that help make preventive care more accessible and affordable. These plans typically include unlimited office visits, comprehensive exams, and other services to help pet parents stay on top of their animal's health. While some customer experiences have highlighted communication issues, particularly regarding record access and detailed explanations of complex procedures, the clinic’s goal is to address these concerns and continuously improve client education. The clinic understands the deep bond between pets and their owners and aims to provide a supportive environment.
The core of Banfield Pet Hospital's practice is its commitment to general and preventive veterinary medicine. They believe that regular check-ups are key to catching and treating health issues before they become serious. Services like comprehensive exams, routine vaccinations, and parasite control are foundational to their approach. For pets with more specific needs, they offer specialized care in areas like veterinary dermatology and behavior evaluation. They are equipped with an in-house laboratory and digital radiography, which allows for fast and accurate diagnostics. This helps their team identify illnesses and injuries promptly, leading to more effective and timely treatment plans.
Beyond the day-to-day care, Banfield also handles more advanced medical and surgical needs. Their capabilities include a wide range of general and specialized surgical services, such as spaying, neutering, and mass removal. They also offer crucial services like pet dental care and oral health treatments, recognizing that a healthy mouth is vital to a pet's overall well-being. For animals facing a sudden illness or injury, the clinic is prepared to provide urgent care. While they are not a 24/7 emergency hospital, they can handle many common urgent situations and provide a crucial first line of defense.
Client reviews of Banfield Pet Hospital in Plano show a mix of experiences, highlighting areas of both satisfaction and concern. Some pet owners express frustration with communication regarding unexpected costs or diagnoses, such as a recent review from a customer who was surprised by the need for a tooth extraction and its associated cost after a recent comprehensive exam. Other feedback has raised concerns about the clinic's knowledge of new and emerging treatments for complex conditions like FIP. The clinic aims to use this feedback as a "coaching tool for the doctor and staff," emphasizing their commitment to continuous improvement and addressing client issues directly. They are focused on enhancing communication and transparency to ensure every pet owner feels fully informed and supported in their pet's care journey.
The experience of visiting Banfield Pet Hospital is designed to be as convenient as possible. They encourage appointments to manage wait times and ensure that each pet receives adequate attention. Their services are designed to be a one-stop solution for most pet health needs, which is a major convenience for busy families. In addition to their medical services, they offer resources like their online pharmacy, which allows for easy prescription refills and home delivery. They also provide valuable advice on pet nutrition and a special diet, helping owners make the best choices for their animal's specific needs.
Banfield is a large, corporate-owned entity, and this structure has both pros and cons. It allows for a standardized approach to care, access to a broad network of vets, and comprehensive resources. However, it can sometimes lead to less of a personalized feel compared to smaller, independently-owned clinics. Regardless, the team at the Plano location is focused on creating a positive and professional environment. They are committed to continuous learning and staying current on veterinary medicine to ensure they can provide the best possible care to their patients.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1have many concerns about the way things are happening at the location we take our pet . East Plano . Us as pet parents go over and beyond to ensure our pet “ Bennie” is taken care of for the past 7.5 years at the same location. Every year we have everything done as you will see in our records at the hospitals . Today on April 4.2025 we have taken Bennie to have his dental cleaning and other monthly items done as we always have . Feb 2025 the comprehensive exam was done and as of today we got a call stating he needed an extraction and has roots showing and decay . Why was this not caught in Feb and if it was no one involved when picking him up was notified a tooth may need to be extracted in April when his teeth were cleaned due to it being 700 dollars . He was also there in March . Also - I can not locate any records online since Sept 2024 on my application for Banfield . I would like to know what can be done and apologizing and saying this will be a coaching tool for the doctor and staff will not be sufficient. I pay monthly for a service and apparently the comprehensive exam and its findings were not explained in detail and now a major expense was thrown at us with out any knowledge of a issue .
April 04 · M WhitesideA public open letter to Banfield Pet Hospital,I am writing to express profound disappointment and concern regarding your clinic’s refusal to provide or even discuss treatment options for a cat with a confirmed diagnosis of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) via pathology by the veterinary ophthalmologist to whom your clinic referred the patient. While GS-441524 is not yet fully FDA-approved, the FDA issued Guidance for Industry #256 in May 2024, explicitly allowing veterinarians to legally prescribe this drug through compounding pharmacies under enforcement discretion. This guidance is well-known within the veterinary community, and many clinics now offer or support this life-saving treatment.Your clinic’s refusal to research or consider GS-441524 treatment, despite this clear regulatory framework and a confirmed diagnosis from a specialist you referred to, represents a gross failure of professional responsibility and compassion. This denial forced a young pet owner to scramble to seek treatment elsewhere, wasting precious time and potentially endangering the cat’s life.Such a dismissal reflects not only a lack of up-to-date knowledge but also a failure to act in the best interest of your patients.FIP, once universally fatal, is now treatable. Ignoring this progress is unacceptable.I strongly urge your clinic to immediately educate your staff about current FIP treatments and to adopt a proactive, compassionate approach for future cases.
August 06 · L GMy dog was actually showing fear of getting in my truck after two visits to this site.Moving to Plano has been a great experience with the exception of dealing with either of the two locations here. The one on Park would not return my calls to schedule an appointment so I drive to the one on 75 and this happens…..Day 1 visit to get new home established and make wellness appointment with included with the program I’m on. No issues, in fact I was relieved-Until- i call to make follow up dental appointment and they tell me I need to wait 2-3 months. I ask why, I get out on hold 3 separate times for about 6-8 minutes only for the person to get back on the phone and literally repeat the same thing like a robot. Finally after nearly 30 minutes they agree to let me bring him in the following day at 7:15amAround 3pm after hearing nothing from them, I call them to get an update. Long story short he’s gonna have to be rescheduled. So he’s been in a crate all day with no food or water (because he drank water like I’ve never seen before) He pooped in the crate - obviously because no one was attentive to him and they barely cleaned the poop off of him and he stinks when getting in the car.So this morning I’m taking him to get cleaned and guess what- he doesn’t want to get into my truck- he’s shaking and visibly nervous. A 90 lb Catahoula not a 5 lb chihuahua - He doesn’t get scared to go places.I’m so frustrated with Banfield right now that I want to cancel my membership that I’ve had for almost 4 years. Nearly $4K worth of payments to have my dog who is a family member to us treated this way. It is absolutely unacceptable.
August 05 · James HartnettI took my first cat to this location on a Sunday, and Tram and Dr. Gomez gave me a wonderful first impression. Tram took a good 20 minutes telling me all about the plans I could do for my other senior cat. I was blown away by how awesome everyone was! I took my cat in today on a Monday for his first visit, and it went a little differently. The vet was fine. He's knowledgeable and knows more about his hyperthyroid condition than his previous vet. However, while the vet tech was very sweet and good to my cat, she just put my cats on two separate accounts. Its not a big deal, just a hassle because I had to create a whole new email address just to be able to create a new log in to see my other cat's information. But that is my ONLY "complaint" with this place. The plans are AMAZING. I wish I would have come to this place sooner!! The prices I've been paying are astronomically higher than banfield, for the same quality of care. As an example, a simple thyroid blood check at his old vet cost me $63 and here at banfield (with the 20% discount from special care) its only about $30! I have a 7 year old cat and a 13 year old cat, and both are special needs, so the unlimited office visits is a massive plus! I also love that the blood work is done in 30 minutes. I'm used to waiting 3 days. I'm very happy with my decision to switch!
April 30 · Ashley SpencerThank you for taking care of Jackson! My little furry friend is always in good hands here!
