When considering veterinary care in the Perkins, Oklahoma, area, Benchmark Animal Hospital presents itself as a facility with extensive medical and specialized capabilities. It is worth choosing for the sheer breadth and technical depth of its services, particularly its ability to care for a diverse animal population, from Small Animals to Large Animal and Farm Animal patients, including the convenience of Farm Calls. The availability of advanced Digital Radiographs, In House Blood Work, and specialty treatments like Animal Chiropractic and Cold Laser Therapy positions the hospital as a leader in modern diagnostic and therapeutic care in the region.
However, Oklahoma pet owners must exercise careful due diligence. Public reviews highlight significant, concerning issues regarding the reliability of their stated Emergency Veterinary Care and a perceived lack of compassion and communication during critical and end-of-life situations. The reviews suggest a painful disconnect between the high-level services advertised and the empathetic delivery of care, with specific accusations of inadequate supportive care and inappropriate billing practices, leading to formal complaints. Therefore, while the facility offers technical advantages and convenience, clients must weigh these against the serious concerns raised by community members regarding patient advocacy, communication, and compassionate service during urgent care situations. The core technical services and large animal capabilities are strong, but the stated commitment to client-centered, compassionate emergency care has been severely questioned by local users.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I do not recommend benchmark animal hospital for your pets care. It seems like they only care about your money. My dog was supposed to be put down as the vet said he was suffering so we brought him home to say goodbye and scheduled to return later that day. They called about an hour before we were supposed to bring him and said the doc was stuck at a call. Mind you the VET said he was suffering and they want us to bring him the next day?? Not even first thing, but several hours after they open. We had to watch my dog suffer all night long just for him to not even make it through the night. Which the vet said she didn’t think he would make it through the night! After all that to see we were charged for medicine that my dog needed to take at home that we never even received and no refund. Whoever takes the phone calls needs to learn compassion and maybe add I’m sorry to their vocabulary which was not once said. It is very upsetting since we have brought all 7 of our animals to them for the last several years. If I could give zero stars I would. They will lose many clients.
July 11 · Taylor BoggesA while back I called to use their emergency services. I was torn between OSU and them. I called them and asked to make sure vet was at clinic. They said there was so I went to them instead of OSU. Our dog suddenly got symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. We brought him in immediately. We were waiting in waiting room and could hear him scream. We asked to see him to calm him down but they wouldn’t let us. We asked if vet was working on him and they said yes. Over an hour or more later they came to tell us he was passing and to say goodbye. We walked in room to see they hadn’t done anything to him. I’ve worked at clinics before and IV fluids is number one step when vomiting and diarrhea to prevent dehydration. He was not hooked up. Nothing was giving to him to help. He suffered for over an hour. ALONE. They would not let us see him because they were “working” on him. They charged over a thousand for this. They said they couldn’t find cause in necropsy either but maybe HGE. However can’t confirm it. Again he got no supportive care at all. I contacted the OK board of veterinary medicine to report them. I was in the process of filing but my dad was too heartbroken and unstable after losing his best friend. I had to stop to not put him in a worse state. Lisa Mauzerall is responsible for her techs and for falsely advertising a vet is in when they’re not. Speaking to many members of the community, they have had similar instances and most likely why they stopped the ER services. I am just now getting to this review because it was such a painful moment for us. Please don’t bring your pets here.
March 25 · Savannah NewmanI have only used Benchmark for bathing services for my FURbaby. I have ALWAYS used another VETSO, myself & FURbaby are treated “less than” …..FYI for future clients??!!**edit**When I began using this business, they would call me for pick up within an hour of drop off. My FurBaby would be terribly WET. I was not happy. After that, I told them I would not be picking her up wet any longer. They kept her out with the cats,& would no longer call me when she was ready,“I” had to call THEM.This continued for almost 3 years. I also was charged $20 more than what my Vet charges….My Vet had to quit doing baths or I wouldn’t have been put in this position. This place is ‘mainly’ LARGE animals obviouslyFront desk is almost always RUDE.
January 09 · Karen BrownThey take the best care of our fur babies HANK and Leo. We have been taking our pets here for several years now and couldn't ask for better vet services from the staff to the care!
June 02 · Mike CavacoIf I could give zero stars, I would. This joke for an animal clinic will string you along, making sure to take the maximum possible time for you to NOT get the medical information you need on time, but to make sure you pay the MAX amount of dollars for the same thing over and OVER, when it could have been solved in the first visit. Would not recommend, from the personal experiences I had.Edit: She attempted to reply to my Facebook review with false information, attempting to publicly give a false dump of my pet’s private record (Facebook deleted it, because it was A.) untruthful, and B.) illegal). This vet has no idea what confidentiality is, laws, ethics, or care in general. Completely incompetent. She threatened to sue me for harassment and defamation for calling her out. Completely absurd operation and vet. And get this…she didn’t even get my pet’s name right. 🤣
