Big Valley Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across Pennsylvania, especially those residing in the picturesque Big Valley region and surrounding areas like Reedsville, the health and well-being of our animal companions are a deeply personal matter. Our pets, whether they are beloved household companions or vital members of our farms, rely on us for their care, and finding a veterinary practice that understands these diverse needs is crucial. When it comes to ensuring they receive comprehensive and accessible care, a local establishment like Big Valley Animal Hospital, situated conveniently in Reedsville, PA, stands as a key resource for the wider Pennsylvania community.
Big Valley Animal Hospital serves as a central point for animal health in Mifflin County, catering to a broad spectrum of animals, often including both small household pets and larger farm animals. This dual focus is particularly valuable in rural and semi-rural areas of Pennsylvania, where families may have both cats and dogs, as well as livestock. The hospital aims to provide essential veterinary services designed to support the health and vitality of all its patients. For us locals, having a veterinary facility that can handle such a variety of animals under one roof simplifies pet care logistics and builds a consistent relationship with a veterinary team familiar with the regional animal health landscape. It signifies a commitment to the entire animal community, from the smallest hamster to the largest horse or cow.
The philosophy at Big Valley Animal Hospital, like many well-established local veterinary practices, likely revolves around accessible, compassionate, and practical animal healthcare. They understand that pet owners seek clear communication, thorough examinations, and effective treatments. While individual experiences, as seen in reviews, can sometimes differ, the consistent goal of such practices is to foster the health of animals within the community they serve. This often involves a focus on preventive medicine, educating owners on optimal care, and providing diagnostic and treatment options that are both medically sound and financially considerate for families. The presence of a team that is described as "friendly, knowledgeable, and super patient" points to a client-focused approach, where the comfort of both the pet and the owner is prioritized during visits, which is incredibly important for managing potentially stressful situations, especially with excitable young animals.
Location and accessibility are vital considerations for any veterinary practice, and Big Valley Animal Hospital is strategically situated to serve its local clientele effectively. Located at 101 3 Cent Ln, Reedsville, PA 17084, USA, the hospital benefits from a setting that is typically easy to reach for residents within Reedsville and the broader Mifflin County region. This ease of access minimizes travel stress for animals and their owners, which is particularly beneficial for routine check-ups, follow-up appointments, or in times of urgent need. Its rural yet accessible location makes it a practical choice for both small animal and large animal owners in the region.

Big Valley Animal Hospital Reviews
Not impressed with this place over multiple visits. Last time I was there, I took a puppy on for a health exam as it was going to be flying with me. When she was checked as a puppy she was clear of any defects. 10 weeks later she was at big valley animal hospital, and was “diagnosed” with a pretty bad heart murmur. I was pretty shook up about it. I flew with her and took her to a different vet that is really good, and after listening and listening she said “IF she has a heart murmur it’s the lightest level” and she wasn’t even sure about that because it was so light. I’ve also taken puppies there for litter checkups and it seems like they feel like they have to find something wrong with at least a couple puppies. We have taken the puppies that were diagnosed with heart murmurs or whatever to a different vet and they go away from a different vet saying they are healthy pups! One of my friends doesn’t like them either, they do the same thing to her with her puppies. I would suggest finding a different vet if you want to use your money wisely on your furry friend, and don’t want to spend $220 on a wrong diagnosis!!
Jun 16, 2025 · Raquel NorthBrought my new puppy to Big Valley Animal Hospital for the first time today and had a great experience. Dr. Anthony and all of the staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and super patient with my overly excitable puppy. Thank you!
Apr 04, 2025 · RyanVery good and honest. We rescue an amazing havanese from pet come first and they neglected to tell us she had a dental issue and insisted we do not take her to the vet until after months because she was "vetted" and "was in good health". 3 days in our poor baby lost a tooth. It just fell off . Long story short, our vet that sees our Guinea pig did not have space for emergency dental surgery that our new baby needed. Our vet told us, she was in a lot of pain and HAD been for a long time given the severity of her teeth infection and decay. So we had to rush and find another vet. This vet took us in and performed a successfully dental surgery and our baby is happy and healthy. Thank you Big Valley Team! I particularly liked one of the tech. She has very dark hair and pale skin. She was nice. I think her name is heather. The female doctor was very nice and approachable also. The reception help lacked and were not particularly friendly, but if you can get pass that, the pros in the back are good. We paid a bit over $500 but given how we were quoted from places in State College that could not do the surgery for weeks. I think it was well worth it. Look at our toothless princess! She has even gain 1 pound since her surgery. Thank you!!
