- Profound Empathy in Critical Situations: The standout feature is their unparalleled compassion, particularly evident in the moving account of Rigby's last day. Dr. Pintabona and the entire staff's willingness to stay open past closing hours to attend to a very sick, new patient, and then spend over two hours providing support and care until the very end, demonstrates an extraordinary level of dedication and humaneness. This level of empathy in difficult times is truly rare and deeply appreciated by grieving pet owners.
- Exceptional Care for Anxious Pets: As highlighted in another review, the hospital goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience for anxious animals. Strategies like allowing the pup to pick a toy, the vet (Dr. Pintabona) sitting and working on the floor with the dog instead of on an elevated table, and even using "easy cheese on a stick," showcase their innovative and gentle approach to managing pet anxiety during vet visits. This personalized and thoughtful method significantly reduces stress for both the pet and the owner.
- Dedicated and Compassionate Staff: The reviews consistently praise the entire staff for being "exceptional" and providing a level of "empathy and care" that is uncommon. This indicates a consistent culture of kindness, understanding, and professionalism that permeates all interactions at the hospital, from the front desk to the examining room.
- Personalized Attention: The detailed recounting of the care provided, such as the two hours spent with Rigby and the specific actions taken to comfort an anxious pup, highlights a commitment to personalized attention rather than a rushed, one-size-fits-all approach.
- Trust and Reliability: The fact that a family found them in such a critical moment and received such outstanding support speaks volumes about the trust they inspire. For a new local vet, this level of care builds immediate and profound loyalty.

Buffalo Small Animal Hospital Reviews
Our 12-year-old pup woke up lethargic and visibly very sick. We recently moved and didn’t have a local vet. As things got worse, we started calling every clinic we could find—but everything was closed. Our last call was to Buffalo Small Animal Hospital. The receptionist said they were just about to close, but still took the time to check with the vet. After hearing how bad things were, Dr. Pintabona told us to bring Rigby in.Dr. Pintabona is not only an incredible vet, but a truly compassionate person. The entire staff was exceptional. They spent over two hours with us and our sweet girl, helping us through every step until we knew it was time.I’ve never experienced that level of empathy and care from any doctor or vet. Our family—and Rigby—were so fortunate to find you on her last day. We’ll never forget it. Thank you.
Apr 01, 2025 · Darrell PorterWe always love our visit here. Our pup is very anxious at the vet and the team makes an effort in making it comfortable. He was allowed to pick a toy which helped him divert his anxiety. The vet also chose to sit/work on the floor with him instead of on the high table which I think made it much easier for my dog. (The easy cheese on a stick also helped lol)
May 01, 2025 · Julia B⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am for the incredible team at Small Animal Hospital Dr Hider and Janet just to name a few. My dog, Peaches, was very sick and needed urgent care. From the moment we walked in, the staff was kind, compassionate, and professional. They took x-rays and ran bloodwork, and found that something serious was going on with her intestines. When they explained that surgery was needed, I was devastated—not just because of Peaches’ condition, but because I couldn’t afford the full cost upfront. Instead of turning us away, they worked with me so Peaches could get the care she needed. I will never forget that kindness.During her surgery, they kept me updated every step of the way, making sure I knew exactly what was happening. Their transparency, support, and genuine care gave me so much peace of mind. Thanks to them, Peaches is on the road to recovery. I will forever be thankful to this team—not just for saving my dog’s life, but for treating us with such compassion and respect. If you’re ever in need of veterinary care, this is the place you can trust with your beloved pet.
Jun 20, 2025 · Earl BishopI’ve got 2 frenchies. We’re at the vet a lot. 😅 They always get my buddies fixed up and we are listened to. I’m grateful to have people who care about doing their best by my pets.
May 21, 2025 · Dana MasonThis is by far the best veterinarian office in Buffalo. The all female office is incredible because my dog has a fear of men. It's been so difficult getting my Aussie Mix into the vet but this is the only place I've been in 4 years where his anxiety isn't through the roof and they are so kind and patient with him. They gave him a sedated hygiene cut because he can't be traditionally groomed. it truly has given him a better quality of life. Whenever I call, they are helpful and so sweet. I love all these ladies, and they deserve all the praise in the world. Thank you for caring for my boy! I will never choose another vet office.
