CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets offers a comprehensive range of specialized services focused exclusively on veterinary cardiology. Their expertise ensures that pets with suspected or diagnosed heart conditions receive the most appropriate and advanced care.
- Advanced Cardiac Diagnostics: This includes state-of-the-art diagnostic tools such as echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), electrocardiography (ECG) to assess heart rhythm, and potentially cardiac radiography (X-rays) to evaluate heart size and lung fluid. As one client noted, they performed a "work up" and confirmed a heart murmur and fluid, indicating their thorough diagnostic process.

- Acquired Heart Disease Management: Comprehensive care for conditions that develop later in a pet's life, such as dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
- Heart Murmur Evaluation: Thorough assessment to determine the cause and significance of heart murmurs, leading to appropriate treatment or monitoring plans.
- Cardiac Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Treatment: Identification and management of irregular heart rhythms, which can range from benign to life-threatening.
- Pericardial Disease Management: Treatment for conditions affecting the sac around the heart, including fluid accumulation.
- Pre-Surgical Cardiac Clearance: Evaluations to determine a pet's cardiac health before non-cardiac surgeries, ensuring they can safely undergo anesthesia.
- Long-Term Cardiac Care and Monitoring: Ongoing management and regular check-ups for pets with chronic heart conditions to maintain their quality of life.

CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets Reviews
I life 30 miles south of San Antonio. My 2yr old cat Gary started acting funny on Mother's day. Just really lethargic., not himself. I took him to my vet in town but they're not equipped to do much. They saw fluid on his heart, and heard a loud murmur. My lovely vet, told me the name of a few places to try in San Antonio and he said hed look too. We'll, these guys were able to see me the VERY next day. Did I have to drive 2 hours? Yes. Was it worth it? 1000000%. They did a work up on my bestie and confirmed his heart murmur. Saw the fluid. They sent me back to my vet for full bloodwork. My cat is an anomaly. We still don't know what's wrong with him, but CVCA put me at ease. She literally drew on a picture of a cats heart, what was happening. I appreciated her honesty and explanations, because I was a WRECK. This is my child. There was a surrogate mom, but he's my baby. It doesnt seem like CVCA did much, writing it out like this...but they were honest, sweet, so kind and answered every question I could think of.. even over the phone before I even had an appointment. I do not regret going.

Apr 19, 2025 · Jane SherborneIt was a great experience. I was very worried that it would upset Harvey and myself. I felt I was given some valuable direction on how to handle Harvey’s heart murmur.
Jul 24, 2025 · Geraldine StewartI've spent the last year at various appointments at CVCA for my 9 year old bulldog's heart arrhythmia. Dr. Sykes, Dr. Miller and the amazing staff are THE absolute best!! They treat my dog with so much care and kindness and they are all absolutely tops in their field. If you need a canine cardiologist, CVCA is THE go-to clinic!
Jun 09, 2025 · Gina Fant-SimonI was extremely happy with the service my dog and I received at CVCA. All staff members were amazing, caring, and inviting and the doctor, Catherine Pouliot, was very knowledgeable and was able to explain everything in simplistic terms so that I could understand what was happening and why. We were given an action plan and she set realistic expectations. Everyone at the NW office put us at ease and we are extremely happy with everything!
