Daisy Creek Vet ~ A Peaceful Passing is located with an administrative address at Valley View Rd, Hudson, OH 44236, USA. However, the true essence of their "location" is defined by their mobile, in-home service. This means that instead of you traveling to a clinic, the compassionate care comes directly to your doorstep, within their designated service area in Ohio.
This in-home model offers unparalleled accessibility and comfort during an incredibly difficult time. For pet owners in Hudson, Summit County, and surrounding areas in Ohio, it eliminates the need for anxious car rides, uncomfortable waiting rooms, and the potential for a public setting to amplify grief. Pets can remain in their most cherished and familiar surroundings, where they feel safe and loved, right up to their last moments. This focus on home-based care provides a private and serene environment for families to say their final goodbyes, making the experience as peaceful as possible. While their physical address is a base, their service area extends to bring this vital support directly to many homes across Northeast Ohio.
Daisy Creek Vet ~ A Peaceful Passing specializes exclusively in end-of-life care for pets, providing a focused and deeply compassionate set of services designed to ensure a peaceful transition. Their offerings are tailored to support both the pet and the grieving family during this difficult time. Their services include:
- In-Home Euthanasia: This is their primary service, allowing pets to be gently put to sleep in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones. The process typically includes:
- Discussion with the veterinarian: A thorough consultation to ensure the decision is right for the pet and family.
- House-call visit: The veterinarian travels to your home, eliminating travel stress for the pet.
- Exam of pet's condition: A final assessment to ensure the pet is ready for the procedure.
- Sedation/Anesthetic: Administered to calm anxiety, eliminate pain, and allow the pet to drift into a peaceful sleep before the final injection.
- Gentle Euthanasia: The final, painless injection is administered once the pet is deeply sedated and comfortable.
- Personal Consultation and Guidance: Dr. Kathleen Durfee and her team provide extensive support through text, phone calls, and in-person consultations, guiding families through the decision-making process and what to expect during and after the procedure. They offer information on quality of life and when is the right time to consider euthanasia.
- Aftercare Options: Recognizing the importance of dignified aftercare, Daisy Creek Vet assists with arrangements, including:
- Private Burial on Your Own: Guidance on legal restrictions and practical considerations if families choose to bury their pet at home.
- Cremation Services through Faithful Companion Cremation Services:
- Communal Cremation: Pets are respectfully cremated with other pets, and their ashes are scattered in a pet cemetery/tree nursery, with no ashes returned to the owner.
- Private Cremation with Ashes Returned: Pets are cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to the family. This service typically includes a clay paw print on a stand, an engraved cherry box urn, a fur clipping, and personal home delivery of the ashes within 48 hours.
- Transportation for Cremation: Following the euthanasia procedure and after the family has had time with their pet, Daisy Creek Vet transports the pet directly from the home to the licensed crematory in Cleveland, Ohio.
It's important to note that as an exclusively house-call euthanasia service, Daisy Creek Vet does not provide full-service veterinary care, routine check-ups, or long-term medical treatment. They encourage clients to maintain a relationship with a full-service veterinarian for their pet's ongoing health needs.
Daisy Creek Vet ~ A Peaceful Passing is highlighted by its profoundly empathetic and professional approach to end-of-life pet care, a service that is cherished by pet owners in Ohio during their most difficult moments:

As one review beautifully states, the pet "never felt anything but love and care right up to her last breath," allowing for a "peaceful passing."
- Personalized and Unrushed Care: Dr. Durfee and her staff provide "all the time and care we needed." This contrasts with the often time-constrained environment of traditional clinics, allowing families to have their final moments with their pet without feeling rushed.
- Professionalism and Expertise: Despite the emotional nature of the service, the team is consistently described as "very sweet and professional people." They "know exactly what they are doing" in guiding families through the process, from initial consultation to aftercare.
- Comprehensive Support Through the Process: They walk families "through the whole process" of euthanasia, providing clear explanations and making it "as easy as possible." This guidance extends to advising on how to talk to children about pet loss, demonstrating a holistic approach to family support.
- Dignified Aftercare Arrangements: The meticulous handling of cremation services, including arranging for remains to be cremated and returned "in a beautiful manner," complete with keepsakes like clay paw prints, adds immense value and comfort to the grieving process.
- Availability and Responsiveness (Implied): While not a 24/7 emergency service, their communication via text, phone calls, and willingness to help via consultation suggests responsiveness, particularly for such sensitive and often time-sensitive decisions.

Jan 26, 2024 · Steve wallaceThis is one of the toughest decisions that anyone can make. Anyone who's had pets before knows this. These people are like angels sent from heaven though. They make a very hard experience comfortable, and they are very sweet and professional people. They know exactly what they are doing and know exactly the emotions that you and your family are going through. They made the crossing of our Doberman Marley as peaceful and comtorble as it could be. They come right to your home and walk you through the whole process and make it as easy as possible for you to have the most peaceful last moments with your most precious friend. They also arrange to have the remains cremated and returned in a beautiful manner. My family cannot thank you enough.
Nov 05, 2023 · N CThe Drs. Durfee at Daisy Creek deserve all their accolades, and here's another. After a preliminary talk when I wasn't sure what I was going to do, I called back and was able to have Dr. Durfee at my home within a couple hours to euthanize my 16+ yr old cat Molly. Molly was sleeping when Dr. Durfee arrived and to my surprise she didn't stir while Dr. Durfee and I sat near her talking quietly. Dr. Durfee is a very kind, gentle, sensitive, and empathetic person. I never felt rushed or pressured. I felt more like a friend in need than a customer. After 10-15 minutes she injected the anesthesia through a tiny needle and Molly did wake and hiss, but immediately fell back to sleep. Dr. Durfee did a physical exam and helped me make peace with my decision. I spent another 5 minutes or so petting and talking to Molly, then Dr. Durfee continued with great care and consideration and Molly was gone. She was placed gently on velvet cushion in a box just her size, with a soft blanket over her. I opted for private cremation and her ashes would normally have been returned within 24 hours, but instead I received a phone call saying road conditions were too bad and delivery would be delayed 24 hours. Since I knew conditions were supposed to be even worse I was shocked when in fact her ashes were delivered - on a Sunday, during a near blizzard. I would have understood another day's delay and consider this to be outstanding service. I also appreciated the printed materials delivered with her cremains, which included some counseling options and a journaling guide which I plan to complete. Molly only felt that one quick prick and otherwise it was a gentle, tranquil experience for us both. I hope Daisy Creek will be available for my dog when her various conditions worsen, and I recommend Daisy Creek without hesitation to anyone facing this sad decision.
Feb 19, 2025 · Shelly EmI never thought anything could ever make the moment you are saying goodbye to your pets comforting…until we met Dr's John and Kathleen Durfee. I am beyond thankful to have found these wonderful people who truly act as stewards of the animals as the Lord intended us to be. To say they are kind or caring would be an understatement. These two people bring peace and comfort to a situation that is hard to manage. We were able to say goodbye in our home where our dogs feel comfortable and safe and we could be gathered as a family. We had two beautiful pets pass in 4 months time and we just could not have gotten through it without you. From myself and my family, thank you and may God bless you and all the work you do!
