Dickson Animal Clinic Reviews
The old Dickson Animal Clinic would have earned 4.5 stars from me, but since the expansion and remodel, it no longer feels like the same place. The focus now seems to be on packing the schedule and moving clients through quickly—often in 15 minutes or less. It's difficult to get through to them by phone in a timely manner, and same-day appointments are rarely available. If you do manage to get squeezed in, expect an additional $50 fee (usually at the vet’s discretion, but in my experience, always applied). The most heartbreaking part of my experience is related to a cat I recently lost due to gastrointestinal and obesity issues. I raised concerns repeatedly, but was passed between different vets and never felt truly heard. The issues were documented, but no one took meaningful action—and now, years later, she’s gone.I don’t question the competence of the veterinarians, but I do question their priorities. It increasingly feels like revenue comes before patient care. I was even quoted one price for a procedure, only to be given a new quote—$300 higher—weeks later by the same vet.Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this clinic.
Jun 28, 2025 · Mike MartelTypically I would wait a bit longer to leave a review like this since I’ve only been here 2x, but I already feel confident enough to say this office is fantastic. We brought our cane corso for a consultation on ear cropping and came away with a perfect understanding of what to expect. Dr Hovis explained his preferred length for the ears, which coincidentally is exactly what I wanted, and performed the surgery today. He let us know when the procedure was started, when it was over, and when our pup would be ready to come home. He explained post op process to us and set up our return visits for check up and demonstration on posting the ears. Every member of the staff was friendly and the place was extremely clean! If you didn’t know it was a vet, you would have no idea animals were ever even in there! I will come back at some point after he’s healed and shared final photos, but the steps Dr Hovis has put forth should get us to an excellent end result!
Jan 17, 2025 · Alex ArmstrongI have been to 3 veterinarian offices ever since I have had my beagles, for the last 24 years, I switched to Dickinson Animal Clinic about 2 years ago do to corporate buy out at one vet and just down right bad service at the second vet. I had been to get a second opinion on one of my dogs about 8 years ago from Doctor Hovis, and really liked his attitude and care for my dog, I told him Iif anything ever went sideways with the other vet I would bring my business to Dickinson, and about 2 years ago I switched to Dickinson Animal Clinic and couldn't be any happier, the office staff is very friendly, doctors are very good and there prices are much more affordable than the other vets, I like the fact they are still independently owned instead of a corporation. They definitely have the wellness of your pet in mind and not just money and greed. Mike Jernigan
Apr 26, 2025 · Michael JerniganI was debating between this clinic and totalbond which both have VERY good reviews. This one ended up being closer to home and my fiance is familiar with it so we decided to establish care for our 4mo puppy. I came in with a lot of questions for them and they gave me an answer to everything I was asking. They were very gentle handling my girl and she was happy the whole time :) they gave me a folder full of useful information that every new puppy parent should have. A lot of it I already knew some about, but they are really pushing the importance of socialization (SOOO important) and I really love the checklist of things to do with your puppy in their first 100 days to help socialize and desensitize them! definitely will be coming back to see Dr. Honeycutt again!
Jun 06, 2025 · Breanna EnglishI want to thank Dickson Animal Clinic for taking such good care of our pup (Asia) over these many years.
