Dr. Phyllis C. Glawe, DVM Introduce
When a beloved pet receives a serious diagnosis, such as cancer, the journey ahead can feel overwhelming. Pet owners in Colorado often seek a specialist who can provide not only advanced medical expertise but also a deep sense of compassion and understanding. Dr. Phyllis C. Glawe, DVM, is a highly respected specialist in the Denver metro area, known for her dedication to pets with complex medical needs. As a veterinarian who specializes in specific areas of medicine, her practice is designed to provide targeted, expert care that complements the services of a family veterinarian. She understands the emotional toll that these diagnoses take on pet parents and works to create a supportive environment where all treatment options are thoroughly discussed, and your pet’s quality of life is the primary focus.
The field of veterinary medicine has advanced significantly, and specialists like Dr. Glawe are at the forefront of this progress. By focusing on particular conditions, they can offer more in-depth knowledge and access to specialized treatments that may not be available at a general practice. This is a critical distinction that pet owners should understand: a specialized clinic operates as a referral partner, working alongside your primary care vet to provide the best possible outcome for your pet. The process of getting an appointment with a specialist often requires a referral and medical records, which is a standard procedure to ensure the specialist has all the information needed to provide a comprehensive consultation.
Dr. Phyllis C. Glawe, DVM's office is located at 3530 S Logan St, Englewood, CO 80113, USA. The office is designed to provide a comfortable and accessible experience for both pet and owner. The facility is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that all clients can easily enter and exit the building. A restroom is also available for client use. As a specialized practice, appointments are recommended to ensure that Dr. Glawe and her staff have adequate time to review your pet's records and prepare for their visit. Because of the specialized nature of the care, the appointment process may require you to have your primary vet send records ahead of time.
Based on publicly available information and typical practices for veterinary specialists, the clinic offers focused services that may include:
- Oncology Consultation: Specialized consultations for pets with a cancer diagnosis, providing an in-depth review of the case, diagnostic findings, and a full discussion of treatment options.
- Treatment Plans: Creating customized treatment plans that may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy (in partnership with other specialty hospitals), or surgical recommendations.
- Diagnostic Review: A thorough examination and review of all previous tests and records from your primary veterinarian.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilizing or recommending advanced diagnostic imaging and lab work, which are crucial for staging and treating complex diseases.
- Geriatric Care: As cancer and other serious illnesses are common in senior pets, this specialization often includes a focus on Geriatric Medicine and compassionate care for older animals.
While specific service details for this individual practice may be limited, a specialist's core features are consistently centered around expertise and a comprehensive approach.
- Specialized Expertise: Dr. Glawe's focus on specialty care, particularly in areas like oncology, allows for a level of expertise that goes beyond general practice, providing advanced knowledge for complex conditions.
- Compassionate Patient Care: A key feature of specialists is their dedication to providing compassionate support during what is often a very stressful time for pet owners.
- Collaborative Approach: Specialists work as a team with your primary veterinarian. They receive referrals and communicate to ensure a seamless and coordinated plan of care for your pet.
- Appointments Recommended: The need for appointments ensures that the specialist is prepared for your pet's case, having reviewed their records in advance to provide the most effective consultation.

What is worth choosing for a Colorado pet owner? It is essential to be a discerning and informed client, especially when a pet is ill. The provided reviews, though negative, highlight a critical point about the process of seeing a specialist. A specialist requires a full medical history and often a formal referral from the primary veterinarian to be effective. This is a standard and necessary practice in specialized medicine to ensure they have a complete picture of the pet’s health and prior treatment. While the communication issue and the wait time mentioned in the review are valid points of frustration for a pet owner in a stressful situation, they do not necessarily reflect on the quality of the medical care itself.
Other public forums and reviews indicate that Dr. Glawe is a well-respected specialist in her field, with multiple clients recommending her for her kindness, knowledge, and ability to provide a clear and compassionate path forward. She is highly recommended by fellow veterinarians and pet owners who have seen her for complex cases. For any pet owner in Colorado who is in need of a specialist for a serious medical issue, particularly oncology, it is crucial to follow the proper referral process and ensure all medical records are transferred ahead of time. By doing so, you can ensure a smooth and productive appointment with a dedicated specialist who is prepared to help you and your beloved pet through a difficult time. The high praise from other clients who have successfully navigated her process shows that with the proper preparation, a visit to Dr. Glawe can be a very positive and beneficial experience.

Dr. Phyllis C. Glawe, DVM Reviews
If I could give zero stars I would. Called to make oncology appointment based on my vets recommendation. Called the office and they had a same day appointment that I took since my dogs is not doing well. We wait in the waiting room 30 minutes because the vet is behind. The tech comes out and tells us they won’t see my dog without notes from my vet. He was just diagnosed the day prior and why would the staff schedule me and let us wait 30 minutes. They could have asked for us to get records while waiting. Not sure they can’t see my dog and at least get a history from us. Instead just turned away like his cancer doesn’t matter.

August 03 · Heather GodwinWhen another vet suggested we put our dog down, we did the opposite and paid for an emergency surgery to remove a liter of blood from his abdomen. We then sought out Dr. Glawe who provided a thoughtful plan of care. With chemo, ongoing checkups, and the use of an experimental mushroom medication advised by the University of Pennsylvania, we had two extra years with our little guy. I’m forever grateful to Dr. Glawe for her help.
