★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We just came for our dog’s first visit and are very impressed. Staff are kind and professional, and the facilities are very spacious and clean. Dr. Burke answered all our questions (we had many) very thoroughly and patiently and he took the extra step to make sure we and our dog were taken care of.You can tell this animal hospital truly cares for the pets that come here. We’re very excited to keep coming to this facility.
July 29 · Elise HoiI brought my dog here in October of 2021 when he was in clear respiratory distress. I asked multiple times if he was able to breathe properly. The vet assured me he was fine, took X-rays, and told me he was not in heart failure. He prescribed cough medicine to be picked up later. No oxygen, no Lasix, and no emergency intervention were given. Before I could even leave to get the medication (within a half hour of leaving Fanwood Animal Hospital), my dog’s condition continued to worsen. I rushed him to the emergency hospital, where the team immediately diagnosed severe acute heart failure. Despite their efforts, he went into cardiac arrest and died within 20 minutes. The ER doctors were shocked that he had not been stabilized with oxygen or medication before being sent home.My original one-star review from 3.5 years ago is no longer visible, so I am reposting. This was a devastating and preventable loss. I strongly urge anyone who wants an accurate diagnosis and appropriate care for their pet to seek treatment elsewhere.
August 20 · Stephanie IammartinoI've been a patient of the vets at Fanwood Animal Hospital since I got my first cat in 2010. They saw us through a cancer diagnosis, and never made me feel silly for saying, "there is just something they're doing that isn't right."They love animals and work hard to balance care with cost. We'll always stick with Fanwood Animal Hospital as long as it's possible!
July 23 · Ariel WatersTook my old 21 year old family dog here today. (Yes 21 long eventful human years!) I called and they just so happened to have an opening in 2 hours. Our dog was living her last few days in pain and it was time for her to go to heaven and be in peace. The staff especially Dr. Ottosen was very compassionate and was very gentle with our girl. They were very thoughtful and I liked how they respected our time with our dog and even told us we can leave out the back if we wanted (so we wouldn’t have to see the other happy dogs in the waiting room.) It was very difficult to let go of our dog but we knew it was the best so that she wouldn’t have to live in pain anymore. I was so afraid it would seem very surgical and heartless but it was the opposite. They made the process easier and I am grateful. The paw print keepsake made me cry. Thank you to all the staff that made this difficult process an easier one.
November 10 · Christine NocumI used to think they were a good small town vet clinic that cared about animals. Now I see they are like the rest, all about the money. They refused to renew my dog’s “prescription” food this month because “it is overdue for its wellness exam” ($85+). Meanwhile it’s Feb 18th and they’re booked until “mid march”. But wait, I can go on the “wait list” and hope something opens up so I can stop what I’m doing and rearrange my life so I can bring my perfectly healthy dog to a vet for no reason. How inconvenient and frustrating is that?! Seems like a racket.Obviously, my dog is well, hence the reason I haven’t had the need to bring it in. They care more about making that $85 than continuing the process which is working fine.I am disappointed with this outcome but in a day with virtual vets and telemedicine visits, to wait a month and pay $85 for an unneeded appointment, to get cleared for non-FDA regulated “prescription” dog food is a joke. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
