Four Corners Veterniary Clinic Introduce
For pet owners navigating the picturesque, yet sometimes spread-out, communities of Maine, finding a reliable and responsive veterinary clinic is a crucial aspect of responsible pet care. In Columbia, ME, Four Corners Veterinary Clinic, located at 390 US-1, is a listed option for local residents seeking veterinary services for their beloved animals. When a pet needs attention, especially for sudden issues like an ear infection, the ability to get timely help and clear communication from a veterinary office is paramount. This article aims to provide a factual and informative overview of Four Corners Veterinary Clinic, drawing from its stated location and publicly available customer experiences. Understanding the operational aspects and client interactions of local businesses is vital for individuals in Maine who are seeking to make informed decisions about their pet's health and well-being. The goal is to present what is known about this specific clinic to assist local users in their search for appropriate veterinary care in the Columbia area.
Four Corners Veterinary Clinic is situated at 390 US-1, Columbia, ME 04623, USA. Located directly on US-1, a major highway in Maine, the clinic's address suggests a generally accessible position for residents of Columbia and the surrounding Washington County area. US-1 is a key route for travel throughout coastal and downeast Maine, which theoretically should make the clinic straightforward to find for those traveling by vehicle. However, public feedback regarding accessibility indicates that despite the seemingly prominent address, there have been challenges reported by potential clients. One review details an experience of driving "just over an hour" to the clinic only to find it "closed (not yet 4pm)" despite being told they were "open till 5pm." This suggests a potential disconnect between stated hours or communication and actual operational accessibility. For pet owners in rural Maine, where distances can be considerable, accurate information about operating hours and reliable communication are critical. The physical location on a main highway should ideally offer ease of access, but the reported difficulties in finding the office open or getting a response via phone highlight potential hurdles for clients seeking timely care. Effective accessibility for a veterinary clinic encompasses both physical location and reliable operational availability, both of which are key considerations for local pet owners.
While specific, detailed service offerings for Four Corners Veterinary Clinic in Columbia, ME are not extensively available through publicly provided customer reviews, a veterinary clinic typically offers a range of core services essential for the health and well-being of companion animals. Based on general veterinary practice standards, it is common for such a clinic to provide:
Preventative and Wellness Care: This fundamental category usually includes comprehensive physical examinations, age and lifestyle-appropriate vaccinations (such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus for dogs; feline leukemia, FVRCP for cats), and proactive parasite control (fleas, ticks, heartworm, intestinal worms). Nutritional counseling and general health assessments also fall under this umbrella.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Illness and Injury: Veterinary clinics are equipped to diagnose and treat a wide variety of common medical conditions and minor injuries. This involves assessing symptoms, performing necessary diagnostics, and prescribing appropriate medications or treatments. For instance, treatment for recurring conditions like ear infections, as mentioned in a review, would typically fall into this category.
Basic Diagnostic Services: To aid in diagnosis, most clinics offer in-house or outsourced laboratory services for blood tests (e.g., complete blood counts, chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal examinations. Diagnostic imaging such as X-rays (radiography) is also a standard tool for evaluating internal structures.
Dental Care: Oral hygiene is crucial for pets' overall health. Services often include professional dental cleanings, extractions for diseased teeth, and sometimes dental X-rays to assess sub-gingival health.
General Surgical Procedures: Many local clinics perform routine surgeries such as spaying, neutering, and minor soft tissue surgeries (e.g., lump removals), often with pre-surgical evaluations and post-operative care.
Pain Management: Assessment and management of acute and chronic pain, utilizing various medications and therapies to improve a pet's comfort and quality of life.
Pharmacy Services: Dispensing of common prescription medications, parasite preventatives, and therapeutic diets. The need for a prescription, as mentioned in a review for an ear medication, indicates this service is expected.
The provided customer reviews do not detail specific services beyond an ear medication prescription, but these general categories represent what a local veterinary clinic typically offers to its community.
Based on the provided customer reviews, identifying positive "features" or "highlights" for Four Corners Veterinary Clinic is challenging, as the feedback predominantly focuses on negative experiences related to communication and reliability. The recurring comments indicate several critical areas of concern:
Significant Communication Issues: A primary concern is the repeated inability to establish reliable contact. The review explicitly states, "Never heard from office and got answering machine rest of day," and "still no call" a day later, despite initial instructions to have a prescription faxed. This suggests a severe breakdown in customer service communication, which is vital in veterinary care, especially for urgent needs.
Inaccurate Information Regarding Operating Hours: Customers reported being told the clinic was "open till 5pm" but found it "closed (not yet 4pm)" upon arrival. This discrepancy between communicated hours and actual availability leads to wasted time, frustration, and a lack of trust, particularly for those traveling a significant distance.
Unreliable Service and Unmet Expectations: The overall sentiment conveys a lack of helpfulness and unfulfilled expectations. The client was "not helpful. Not impressed," indicating that despite following instructions (getting the vet to fax a script), the clinic did not follow through on their part, leaving the pet without needed medication.
Impact on Pet Health: The core issue stemming from these operational problems is the delay in a pet receiving necessary medical attention. For a dog prone to ear infections, timely medication is crucial, and the reported experience resulted in a delay that was "not helpful" for the pet's condition.
These points collectively highlight a pattern of unreliability and poor communication, which are significant drawbacks for any local service, particularly one critical for animal welfare. Therefore, the most prominent "features" from these reviews are unfortunately negative aspects of their service delivery.

For pet owners residing in Columbia, ME, and the broader Maine region, the search for reliable and accessible veterinary care is a common concern. Four Corners Veterinary Clinic, located at 390 US-1, is positioned as a local option. However, based on publicly available customer reviews, it is important for locals to approach this clinic with caution and to be aware of the significant challenges reported by previous clients. While the clinic's location on a main highway might suggest ease of access, direct feedback indicates substantial issues with operational reliability and communication. Repeated attempts to contact the clinic by phone reportedly went unanswered, and conflicting information about operating hours led to wasted travel and unfulfilled expectations for pet owners seeking timely care. For any local veterinary service, the ability to consistently answer calls, provide accurate availability, and follow through on commitments is absolutely critical, especially when dealing with a pet's health needs. The experiences shared suggest that these fundamental aspects of reliable service may not be consistently met at Four Corners Veterinary Clinic. For pet parents in Maine who prioritize prompt communication, dependable operating hours, and a responsive approach to their animal's well-being, these reported difficulties are significant considerations. Therefore, while Four Corners Veterinary Clinic exists as a local entity, those in the community might need to carefully verify current operating procedures and consider alternative options to ensure their beloved companions receive the consistent and reliable care they deserve.

Visiting in the area. Dog is prone to ear infections and is regularly prescribed an ear med once to twice a year. When they happen there’s no real warning. Called them at 9am. We were told they were open till 5pm and to have our vet fax the script. Given fax number and rushed to get calls and things organized. Never heard from office and got answering machine rest of day. Drove there (just over an hour) and they were closed (not yet 4pm). Now a day later and still no call. Not helpful. Not impressed.

Apr 23, 2021 · Matt ButlerIf you are LOW INCOME this is not the place to take your animals, won;t accept any type of payment arrangement. wanted $50 just to look at cat nothing else! No thanks I'll wait for the people that come to town from out of town and do this for almost free, thanks! Receptionist was totally incompetent couldn't answer any detailed questions. So you're basically talking to a human answering machine that cant even give you a quote at what a office visit would cost to get shots, fixed, dewormed if worms etc, literalLy acted dumb and talked like they didn't care, I am sure this is a great place for people but low income (most of the county) be prepared to talk to a living answering machine and pay an arm and leg
