- BoardingAll three Gentle Doctor locations offer overnight boarding and extended-stay boarding. All canine guests are given a morning and evening meal, three walks a day (or more if requested), a comfortable blanket for resting and lots and lots of love. We also give treats as requested and closely monitor any special medical or pharmaceutical needs of our guests. Our canine boarding facilities are equiped with 24-7 fire detection systems and recirculating ventilation systems to ensure a clean and safe place to stay. Each of the Gentle Doctor locations also offers cat boarding, and our Grant and West Maple locations have private cat condos so our feline friends don't get annoyed by those barking dogs! Private rooms offer a bit higher temperature to keep cats cozy during the winter months. We also offer a Sunday evening discharge hour from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm to allow you to pick up your pet at either our Grant or West Maple location. Ask a receptionist for details.
- CosmeticWhile cosmetic surgery for pets might sound a bit unusual, it is in fact quite common for many breeds, and even medically necessary for others. Tail docking is done on many breeds during the first days of puppyhood and is accomplished nearly painlessly in just a few seconds.Addressing excess skin folds in Shar Peis and other loose-skined breeds can greatly reduce the occurence of skin infections, and surgery on breeds with protruding eyes, such as pugs, can reduce eye irritation and infection. Most of these procedures, along with declawing for cats, can be done with minimal hospital stays and a regimine of at-home care. If you have any questions regarding whether to pursue a cosmetic surgery for your pet, please feel free to call us.
- Diagnostic & Surgical ServicesWe are committed to providing total health care for your pet. To meet that challenge, we have equipped our hospitals to handle almost every veterinary procedure -- from routine lab tests to emergency surgery. We process routine blood work, including heartworm tests, in house while you wait. Other tests are performed at an outside laboratory for the most comprehensive analysis and accurate results. Testing for parasites, feline immune virus (FIV), feline leukemia and bacterial cultures are all accomplished in our labs.
- GroomingOur Gentle Doctor Animal Hospitals Pet Salon offers an individual grooming experience for your pet. We have customized bathing for your pet’s skin and hair care needs. We use gentle, low temperature dryers. We tailor hair cuts and styling to your individual pet and your preferences. We offer ear hair removal, ear cleaning and nail trimming. We groom both dogs and cats. If your pet needs medical services while he or she is here, we will schedule that as well in one convenient visit!
- ImagingUltrasound
- OrthopedicWe are equipped to handle most bone-related injuries, addressing your pet's specific needs with techniques as simple as resetting and casting, to those as complex as bone-plating and joint replacement. As your pet enters its senior years, you should know we have special expertise in treating arthritis and managing joint pain. We consider it one of our topmost priorities to maintain your aging pet's quality of life, and we therefore find arthritis-treating techniques, both phamacological and surgical, to be among our most important offerings.
- Other Medical ServicesAs a human patient, you might expect to see two or three specialists every year: your general practicioner, your dentist and perhaps your eye doctor too. Of course, veterinary medicine encompasses those specialities -- and so many more! At the Gentle Doctor Animal Hopsitals, we offer X-ray services, dental care, state-of-the-art gas anthesthesia and electrocardiograph testing. We assist with breeding procedures and can be at the ready when your pet is expecting. We have experts trained in pet nutrition to help with weight problems and those with special dietary needs. And we even have counseling available if your pet has behavioral problems. We encourage you to ask your veterinarian questions about your pet's health and health care. He or she can help you with every stage of responsible pet ownership and care!
- Soft TissueSurgeries of the organs, skin and musculature are commonly referred to as "soft tissue" procedures. These can range from removal of a swallowed foreign object, to spaying and neutering, to more complicated tumor excision and cardiac treatments.
- VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency CenterUnfortunately our offices cannot be open around the clock. In the event of an after-hours emergency, we refer our clients to VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. This facility is fully staffed 24-hours a day and best equipped for service after our normal business hours and during holidays. VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is located at 9706 Mockingbird Drive, two blocks south and one block west of 96th and "L." Please call the VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in advance of your arrival at 402-614-9000. The VCA Emergency Team will call to let us know how your pet is doing on the next business day as well as provide copies of all procedures and test results.
- Well Pet CarePrevention is certainly the best medicine. We would rather keep your pet well than have to treat it for illness. Annual physical exams and vaccinations play a critical role in our preventive philosophy. The examination includes routine screening for heartworms and other parasites and can often detect early signs of disease and other problems that are easily treated in their early stages. In short, the annual exam is our most important means of fighting disease.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Gentle doctor animal hospital staff is absolutely amazing. Everyone is kind, patient, and informative. It must be a great place to work as well, because their staff stay, which is wonderful because you know who is taking care of your animals. Grateful that they are our support system, in our times of need for our dogs. April 19 · Faylyn Yarger
- The absolute best place to take your animals with the most kind, caring, compassionate, and informative group of people, especially Dr. Belifore. She helped nurse my Pomeranian back to life after a big surgery and a bad experience at the surgery center that I brought her to. I highly recommend this bet to anyone. August 22 · Rebecca Rogers
- Highly recommend! You can tell the staff here really care about your animal. Very knowledgeable on our questions and provided continuous updates on our puppy during her spayed procedure. Although more expensive than some other places we had called, well worth it! May 28 · Ella
- I took my little doggie in because he had been exposed to kennel cough and had been showing symptoms. I was able to get an appointment for the same day I called and they were so sweet on the phone. As a first time dog mom, I was super worried about my pup. Check-in was a breeze and the woman at the front desk was very kind. The appointment started on time and went smoothly. The tech was so great and the doctor was super knowledgeable about kennel cough and its symptoms/treatment. I was sent home with a cough suppressant and an antibiotic to start that day. My boy is on the mend and I am so grateful to the staff who cared for him! June 07 · Allison Heitman
- Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital is just a wonderful vet clinic in Omaha!! The staff are friendly, kind and put my dog at ease. The clinic was very clean and efficient. I have yet to have to wait for more than 5 minutes for my appointment, They are so kind! And, can I say, "spray cheese"? Dr. Belfiore (DiGiacomo) is simply the BEST. So knowledgable, so sweet. I just can't say enough good things about this place! THANK YOU for all you do, Gentle Animal Hospital!! . May 21 · Angel Carl
