EDIT: I was avoiding updating review as I had brought my pets here for years but after Covid this service has really gone down hill. Don’t say you’re clinic is an 1 1/2- 2 hour long for other customers and I to arrive 20-30 minutes before allotted time slot and to be told that the clinic is already full. Their prices have also gone up substantially and are about the same as visiting a physical vet clinic that will respect their schedule. With that being said it’s not worth the effort or rude treatment.I had walked over to the clinic as my dog hates car rides and always vomits. I also don’t drive, it seemed silly to bother a family member or friend to take us when it was a 10min walk away from my house. I was almost refused service for not having a car to put him in, considering I was the first in line, seemed like an overreaction when he was quietly sitting and ignoring the other dogsIf for whatever reason you still want to give this place a shot I’d recommend showing up ATLEAST 40 min before scheduled time.I really wish they’d do some sort of book ahead service online with deposit. It’s unfair to be wasting owners time and giving unnecessary stress to dogs and cats just for them not to be serviced. - Gisselle M

Good Neighbor Vet Introduce

In the vast and varied landscape of Washington state, from the bustling cities to the quiet rural towns, pet owners are always in search of reliable, affordable, and accessible veterinary care. Good Neighbor Vet has established itself as a well-known presence in this quest, offering a unique model of mobile veterinary services. Rather than a traditional, fixed-location animal hospital, Good Neighbor Vet operates pop-up clinics, often located within pet supply stores or other community-based businesses. This approach is designed to bring essential preventive care services, such as vaccinations and wellness exams, directly to the communities where pet owners live and shop.

The core mission of Good Neighbor Vet is to make quality veterinary care more accessible and affordable for everyone. They focus primarily on preventive health, which is a cornerstone of responsible pet ownership. By providing services like low-cost vaccinations, parasite control, and basic wellness exams, they help pet owners stay proactive about their animal's health. This model can be a great option for pet parents who may find it challenging to get to a full-service clinic during standard business hours or who are looking for a more budget-friendly alternative for routine care.

While the reviews and feedback from the community are mixed, the concept itself is a valuable one. Some pet owners in Washington have expressed frustration with the wait times and clinic scheduling, highlighting the importance of arriving early. However, others praise the affordability and the caring nature of the staff. The occasional mention of unique amenities, like biscuits and gravy, while likely a humorous or mistaken comment about a shared location with another business, speaks to the unique, community-centric atmosphere that a mobile clinic can foster. It's clear that Good Neighbor Vet aims to be a convenient "good neighbor" for pet owners throughout the state.

Location and Accessibility

Good Neighbor Vet operates a mobile clinic model, meaning its location at 3711 88th St NE in Marysville, WA, 98270, USA is a scheduled stop rather than a permanent facility. This particular location is often hosted within a larger establishment, such as a pet supply store, which offers the benefit of convenience for patrons. Being located in a commercial area in Marysville, the clinic stop is accessible to residents of Snohomish County and the surrounding areas.

In keeping with its commitment to accessibility, the locations where Good Neighbor Vet sets up its clinics are typically equipped with essential features to accommodate all visitors. This includes a wheelchair-accessible car park, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can easily park nearby. A wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible toilet are also available, making the clinic accessible and comfortable for everyone. These amenities underscore the practice’s effort to provide a welcoming environment for all pet owners and their furry companions.

It is important for local users to note that because the services are mobile, the hours and dates of operation at any specific location, including the one in Marysville, are scheduled and may vary. Checking their website or calling ahead is the best way to confirm the schedule to avoid a wasted trip.

Services Offered

Good Neighbor Vet focuses on a specific set of services that are crucial for a pet's routine health and wellness. They are not an emergency or full-service hospital, but rather a hub for preventive and basic care. The services include:

  • Vaccinations: A wide range of dog and cat vaccinations, including packages for puppies and kittens. This is their primary service and a core part of their offering.
  • Wellness Exams: Pet health exams and regular checkups to assess a pet’s overall health, including eye and ear exams and general wellness checks.
  • Parasite Prevention: Provides treatments for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, which are essential for keeping pets healthy, especially in the Washington climate.
  • Diagnostic Services: Offers limited diagnostics and testing, such as blood work, fecal testing, and feline FIV/FeLV testing, to detect common health issues.
  • Microchipping: Provides pet identification and microchipping services, a vital step in ensuring a lost pet can be reunited with their family.
  • Pain Management: Although they do not perform complex surgeries, they can provide basic pain management and advice for senior pets or pets with chronic conditions.

It is important to understand the scope of their services. While they are invaluable for routine care, they refer clients to full-service veterinary clinics for more advanced diagnostics, emergency care, dental work, and surgical procedures.

Features and Highlights

Good Neighbor Vet's mobile model comes with several unique features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for many Washington pet owners.

  • Affordable and Accessible Care: The central selling point is the provision of low-cost services, making essential preventive care available to a broader segment of the population.
  • Community Integration: By setting up clinics in local pet supply stores, they integrate into the community, making it easy for pet owners to combine a vet visit with their regular shopping trip.
  • Focus on Preventive Care: The emphasis on wellness exams and vaccinations helps pet owners stay proactive, which can prevent more serious and costly health issues down the line.
  • Convenient Walk-in Model: Most clinics operate on a first-come, first-served basis, which can be convenient for pet owners who cannot book an appointment weeks in advance. However, this also means it is wise to arrive early to ensure service.
  • Dedicated to Education: The practice provides pet health resources and educational materials to help pet parents understand their animal's needs and stay informed about their well-being.
  • Limited Services for a Targeted Approach: By specializing in a limited range of services, the team can become highly efficient and expert in these areas, ensuring a high standard of care for routine procedures.

Phone: (888) 234-1350

What is worth choosing

For Washington residents, choosing Good Neighbor Vet is about making a conscious decision to prioritize preventive care in a way that is both convenient and affordable. While it is not a replacement for a full-service veterinary hospital, it serves a critical role in the local pet care ecosystem. The model is particularly well-suited for routine needs, such as a puppy's first set of shots, a kitten's annual check-up, or a dog's parasite prevention. For these services, the ability to walk in without a long-term appointment can be a significant advantage.

The reviews provided, while highlighting some potential frustrations, also point to the value that many pet owners find in the service. The comment about "biscuits and gravy," while seemingly unrelated, could be a playful reference to the welcoming and sometimes unconventional atmosphere. The sentiment from pet owners who appreciate the "caring people" and the "invaluable service" for "a very affordable" price shows that for many, the benefits outweigh the challenges. The fact that the service makes it easier for people to get their pets vaccinated and protected is a huge positive for the overall health of the pet community in Washington.

In essence, Good Neighbor Vet is worth choosing for its specific niche: providing reliable, low-cost, and accessible preventive care. It's a pragmatic and community-focused solution for pet owners who want to stay on top of their pet's health without the high costs or scheduling difficulties of a traditional clinic. For those in Marysville and beyond, it offers a valuable resource for maintaining a pet's wellness, one scheduled clinic visit at a time.
