Grand Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Gurnee, Illinois, and the surrounding Lake County area, choosing a trusted veterinary partner is a decision that impacts the well-being of their furry family members for years to come. Grand Animal Hospital has established itself as a local animal hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive care for cats and dogs. The hospital offers a wide range of services, from essential preventive care to specialized surgical procedures, all designed to ensure your pet lives a long, healthy, and happy life.
The hospital’s philosophy centers on personalized and compassionate care. They understand that each pet is a unique individual with its own needs and personality. The team is committed to creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, which can make a significant difference in a pet's visit. For new clients, the hospital can be a positive and reassuring experience. The responsive communication, from answering inquiries via their website to scheduling same-day appointments, is a feature that many appreciate. The staff and veterinarians are often described as friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. One client noted with relief that their usually anxious cat was "so calm at a vet's visit," a testament to the soothing and kind approach of the hospital staff.
However, it's also important to note that a veterinary practice's reputation can be shaped by a variety of experiences. While some clients have found the service to be exceptional, others, particularly new pet owners, have expressed significant disappointment. Concerns have been raised about the level of communication from the doctors, who some feel do not adequately explain diagnoses or treatment plans without being prompted. There have also been mentions of outdated record-keeping practices, with records being handwritten and difficult to decipher, which can pose a challenge when dealing with modern needs like pet insurance claims. A client's experience with a prescribed medication that was typically for dogs, with only anecdotal research for feline use, also raises questions about the thoroughness of the care provided. These varying reviews highlight the importance of open communication and for pet owners to feel empowered to ask questions and seek clarification. The hospital accepts pet insurance, and it's always recommended for clients to understand their specific policy requirements and how they align with the hospital's record-keeping procedures.
Grand Animal Hospital is conveniently located at 1333 N Delany Rd Ste 100, Gurnee, IL 60031, USA. The facility is easily accessible, which is a great relief for pet owners during a time of need. The hospital provides a wheelchair accessible entrance, a wheelchair accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair accessible restroom, ensuring that all clients can navigate the space comfortably. When planning a visit, it is a good idea to call ahead and schedule an appointment. This helps the staff manage their patient load and provide each animal with the dedicated time and attention they deserve. The hospital’s system is based on appointments, and they are prepared to handle urgent situations for established clients during open hours, though they are not an emergency hospital.

Choosing the right veterinarian is a deeply personal decision, and the experiences shared by fellow Illinois residents can provide valuable insight. For some, Grand Animal Hospital is a "great experience right from the start." The friendly and professional staff, coupled with a quick response to inquiries, makes for a seamless visit. The ability for an anxious pet to feel calm in a new environment is a huge endorsement of the staff's gentle approach. This positive atmosphere and the ease of scheduling are major factors for many pet owners who are looking for a reliable and stress-free vet experience.
However, potential clients should also consider the experiences of others, particularly regarding communication with the veterinarians and the hospital's record-keeping. The feedback from a first-time pet owner highlights the importance of asking a lot of questions and being prepared to advocate for your pet's care. Issues with prescribed medication and the legibility of handwritten records for insurance claims are serious concerns that could impact a pet owner's ability to manage their pet's health and finances effectively. While the hospital has many strong points, particularly its compassionate staff and accessibility, it is crucial for new clients to have a direct conversation with the veterinarians to ensure a comfortable and trusting relationship. The best choice is one that aligns with your personal needs for communication, convenience, and record-keeping, ensuring both you and your pet feel confident and cared for.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1First time visiting with my cat illy, and it was such a great an experience right from the start. I sent a message on the website regarding the issues he was having. I was contacted back same day, and scheduled for a visit within the same week. We walked in and everyone was VERY nice, friendly and professional. I’ve never seen my cat be so calm at a vet’s visit. 20/10 LOVE IT! Thank you so much! You guys are awesome!😻
December 20 · Jennifer ColonAs first time pet owners, we're very, very disappointed with this place.Receptionists are nice, but that's about it.The doctors do not explain anything. They'll quietly conduct their exam, prescribe some meds, and then send you on your way. YOU have to come prepared with questions, and it's like pulling teeth trying to get them to elaborate on anything. And their answers are all as curt as possible. And half the time, they sounded unsure of their answers. And this wasn't just one time - we had this same experience with them twice. After we got home, we also looked up the medication they prescribed for our cat. It was a DOG medication. SOME studies say it works for cats, but even then, all the research says it has only *anecdotally* been shown to help the actual symptoms our cat had.And don't get me started on how awful their records are. Their facility hasn't been upgraded since the 90's apparently. All of their records are HANDWRITTEN, in unreadable chicken scratch no less. How am I supposed to submit my vet expenses to my pet insurance when the only records I have are A) physical paper copies and B) barely legible? This place is awful. Hard pass. We've found another vet in the area that's much, much better. You and your pet deserve better than this place.
March 22 · Adnonymous5I went to this vet and the doctor prescribed venerinary supplements for my cat’s immune system, which I payed over $40 for at their clinic . After giving my cat one packet of it, she got extreme diarrhea. I called the hospital and told them about it, so I could ask for a refund, but their response was that they couldn’t referred me and to make a complaint on the supplement’s website to potentially receive one. Imagine coming back home to see your cat shit all over the house, which takes a hour and half to clean. To then be told no refund can be provided and to waste more time complaining about it on the company’s site. Instead of taking it upon themselves to contact the supplier, and provide the refund regardless. After such a frustrating experience, I won’t be coming back here again.Ps. The truth is that this clinic makes profit of selling this brand medicine by advertising it and then marketing profits from customer pets
July 03 · Maggie HavThese people are very in professional And they killed my cat I would not recommend giving your money to these people whatsoever the people that answer the phones are disrespectful and don’t goHere
May 15 · Adrianna AlbarranThis place is so warm and welcoming, I took my Guinea pig here and his nails got clipped. When my Guinea came to me she was happy to finally be able to use her arms and legs with little cut nails. She changed for the better! Surprisingly I am being totally honest!
