Heart of Oregon Veterinary Cardiology Introduce
For pet owners in Oregon, receiving a diagnosis that involves their pet’s heart can be a frightening and overwhelming experience. At Heart of Oregon Veterinary Cardiology, we are here to provide not just advanced medical expertise, but also a deeply compassionate approach to this challenging journey. Located in West Linn, we are a specialty practice focused on providing outstanding, patient-centered medicine for pets with cardiac conditions. We understand that your pet is a beloved family member, and we are honored to be entrusted with their cardiac care. Our mission is to clearly communicate your pet’s diagnosis and then work tirelessly to give you and your companion the best possible quality of life and longevity.
Our practice operates primarily as a veterinary referral service, which means we work in close collaboration with your primary care veterinarian. When your regular vet identifies a potential heart issue, they refer you to our specialists for an in-depth cardiac evaluation. This collaborative approach ensures that your pet receives the most comprehensive and specialized care possible. We believe in open communication and a supportive environment for our clients. As a client noted, "Dr. Atkinson was wonderful and talked about the procedure step by step," making a potentially stressful experience much more comfortable. Our team is known for being professional, organized, and welcoming, ensuring that every visit is as seamless and reassuring as it can be.

May 16 · Christina TsoukalasI've been taking my sweet Emma here for the last 7 years. The doctor and the wonderful Karen has also been with us every step of the way and I couldn't ask for a better team for my baby girl. I never had any doubt of the care, my sweet Emma would get from them and Jimmi the Receptionist has also been great with us as well. Sadly, my girl passed yesterday at the age of 15 and if it wasn't for this team, I can guarantee her life wouldn't have lasted this long. So I am so thankful for you ladies and I will miss seeing you guys. Thank you so much.
August 21 · Christina EberhardtI recently reached out to Heart of Oregon for some tests for my cat. They were very quick to respond with information. They even offered up a different vet specialist that I could take my cat to that was located much closer to me in order to help minimize my cat's travel stressIt really meant a lot to me that they prioritized the well being of my cat, even if it meant missing out on a kitty patient. That alone makes me like this business's team, and I'll certainly use them if I ever live closer to their offices in the future
May 21 · Teagan SorensenI will never recommend this place to anyone, but will steer people away any chance I get. The staff was extremely unprofessional and outright cruel. I was falsely accused in person by a vet tech (and behind the scenes from the Dr.) of non compliance of administering a particular medication that I was in fact giving my cat. I was rudely talked down to by the assistant and was told to leave the office while at my scheduled appointment and never come back. This appointment was a crucial and a necessary follow up visit for my beloved cat with severe heart disease. I initiated this appointment given her concerning symptomology and drove a distance to get there only for my cat only to be refused care. This was outrageous and very heartless. An error was made on their part; all they had to do is review their emails where I specifically am asking them about the medication to make sure I am giving the right dosage or listen to recorded phone conversations i had with them. They took 3 days to respond to my email question and phone calls for needed clarification on the dosage for this medication. While i was waiting, I continued to give the medication but errored on the side of caution and gave her a lowered dose until i heard back from them that the amount needed to be increased since I purchased it in powder form instead of the compounded liquid which i was told was fine. They knew I WAS giving her the medication they said I wasn't giving her so I don't know what the problem was. When I asked for the opportunity to talk with Dr. Atkinson at this scheduled visit to clear up the apparent misunderstanding, the assistant said in a rude tone-" NO you are just going to need to leave now we will not be treating your cat, you will need to find another cardiogist elsewhere for her care". I was shocked at what they were accusing me of, of how they were treating me. their lack of desire to even communicate with me and listen to what I needed to share to try clear up their error of misunderstanding. or misinterpretation shows me they are not compassionate and able to communicate effectively. The previous week I had spent close to $2,000 on her care there. Why in the world would I be noncompliant if I am investing so much in her care and sending emails and phone calls to make sure I am doing everything correctly in regards to medication administration and management? I did everything i could to follow their instructions to them be falsely accused of not only noncompliance with a med but also told I was making excuses as well which really shocked me and quite upset me. I simply couldn't believe what was happening.I have never in my many years of seeing veterinarians for my numerous pets and my years of working professionally with vets, ever experienced anything like this. I wish this apon no one; no one deserves such treatment. Once home I immediately sent a long email to Dr. Atkinson; I was crying and in shock wanting to clear up any misinformation/ misunderstanding of what the assistant interpretted incorrectly that would have been shared with her given I wasn't given the opportunity at the appointment. Its been over a week without any response from anyone".This establishment should be renamed Heartless of Oregon" Think twice before considering this place. Any other cardiology practice would be a much better choice.
August 05 · dinaWe brought our golden retriever Mac here for years. He was diagnosed with DCM at age 5, and he lived for three more years in a “critical” state thanks to their care. The people here gave him all the love and support and compassion you could possibly imagine. They supported us, gave us advice and directions and really helped him and us through that difficult time. If they ever needed to run tests or change some thing, it happened timely and efficiently. Our dog really got the best care. I can’t recommend these people enough! Thank you for all that you did for Mac.
