★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After a lot of research ( and switching from another practice nearby ), I found them to be very nice, professional, patient oriented, genuine, and reasonably priced.I brougt my sick cat in ( cancer) Dr .Ludwig was very knowledgeable and empathic and walked me through the options realistically. His practice is not like the corporate places, all about money, rushing, and volume. You can see he and his staff genuinely care.If you're looking for a practice more like an old-fashioned, conservative country vet. I highly recommend them.
July 15 · SP ChinaultI highly recommend Heston. When my pets need vet care, I have total confidence in Dr. Ludwig and his staff. I recently needed quick refills on meds and Doc was so accommodating on getting them filled for me. He has a vast knowledge of domestic animals and will go out of his way for their care and comfort. He personally cares for them as if they were his own pets. Whether it’s a sick visit or well care, the staff at this office treats you kindly and with concern. We travel an hour 1 way to this office and it is a well worth the trip. Best veterinary services we’ve had!
February 09 · Barbara RomagnanoBefore I start, I want to be clear upfront that the guy who is the doctor is super cool. I guess it was doctor Ludwig? Tall skinny man. Not sure if he returned from medical leave? Either way I wish him well and hope he gets better!Anyways, the last time I was there was maybe a late 2023 or very early 2024. I was there to have a suspicious looking growth frozen off my German shepherd dog's ear and return a stool sample. The visit started off with me sitting in the lobby there for like a half hour past the appointment's scheduled start. I could hear tons of people in the back; maybe they were wrapping up lunch and it was a scheduling error? Either way, after I checked in I was the only one there at the time and there was no info provided to me about what was going on. It was just super awkward because clearly they weren't busy helping other patients. That's one thing I've noticed about some doctors and vets. They don't view you as a customer despite being one. They depend on the revenue. If enough people left, they'd start to care.In any case, I was finally taken back to a room by a middle age lady vet tech. She then proceeded to have a meltdown at me for some reason. My very existence was somehow an affront to her. She became Mecha-Karen and started asking me why I was there. I said, confused that I was there for the growth to be removed and to return the stool sample. I told her I was confused why they didn't know I was there. You'd think it'd be on the chart for the appointment. Then she told me in a pissy manner that it would be like another hour and a half to see the doctor. I told her I didn't understand; I had an appointment. If there was some extenuating circumstance then why didn't they just call to cancel? I remember clearly she said "We don't do that". Then she stormed off out the back door. As I proceeded back to the lobby , somewhat stunned I told the lady at the desk I wanted to speak to the doctor/ owner and that there was no way I was letting this emotionally disturbed adult child perform Cryosurgery on my dog. At that point the altercation had migrated to the lobby and she continued to flip out like someone who had just chugged 3 red bulls on an empty stomach. As it turns out, within 5-10 minutes I went back into that room and saw the doctor. He apologized profusely for Mecha-Karen having a public freakout and said he'd address it. Still to this day, I don't know what prompted her to behave like that. I could only speculate. I wasn't even rude to her, but I was understandly frustrated from being ignored for half an hour past the scheduled start of the appointment and then they pull me into an office and state that they have no idea why I'm there.Office staff and vet techs represent your organization. If they don't have like....basic customer service and phone skills, they're not really a great fit for the role. They represent you. And as a society we hold folks in the medical field to a higher behavioral standard.Doctor offices do run a bit behind schedule sometimes, but their staff shouldn't have meltdowns over nothing and they should communicate delays that exceed a "normal" time frame of like 15 minutes. If you need to cancel because an emergency case just came in, no problem. Just call me. Instead I just sat there like an idiot for a half hour and then got harassed but some midlife crisis Karen while my dog is getting more and more upset because she has anxiety.Around October of 2024 my dog broke a tooth in half. So I called over wanting to scheduled surgery to have it removed and they said doctor was out for the foreseeable future. Some kind of medical issue. I wish him well! I wound up getting a referral from my coworkers in Lancaster for Neffsville Vet and I've just been seeing them instead because they run pretty on time and have a bunch of vets at the practice. So if my vet is unavailable its not impossible for me to be seen for anything relatively complex. He definitely needs some kind of backup vet if he's needs a sick day/ vaca or whatever.
August 18 · Robert DammingerWe love Heston! We take all our animal babies here! Dr. John is very caring and explains things to you in a way you understand. The vet techs, reception, drs all are very personable and knowledgeable. One of the most honest and non money grubbing vet clinics I’ve ever taken my pets too.
May 07 · KimmyDr. Ludwig is an amazing vet and you can truly tell he cares about his patients and loves what he does. Him and the staff are always giving my dogs love when they come in and trying to make it as stress free as possible which is great because my Bella is an anxious girl. When my dog Cookie was sick and we found out it was cancer, dr. Ludwig did everything he could to make her feel better and never stopped trying until her and I were ready to let go. As the only vet and owner of the practice, he is doing an amazing job and I highly recommend Heston to anyone!
