Integrative Pet Care Introduce
For pet owners across Illinois, particularly within the bustling and diverse communities of Chicago, ensuring the highest quality of life for our beloved animal companions often extends beyond routine veterinary visits. When a pet faces challenges such as recovering from surgery, managing chronic pain, improving mobility, or regaining confidence after an injury, specialized care becomes paramount. This is precisely where Integrative Pet Care (IPC) shines. Located in Chicago, IPC stands as a dedicated center for veterinary rehabilitation and sports medicine, offering advanced therapies and a compassionate approach that has transformed the lives of countless pets and their families. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of IPC, detailing its specialized services, accessible location, and the unique features that make it an invaluable resource for local pet owners seeking to enhance their furry friends' well-being and mobility.
Integrative Pet Care (IPC) is a premier veterinary rehabilitation facility that has exclusively focused on veterinary rehabilitation and sports medicine since its opening in 2005. Their core philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that rehabilitative services can significantly enrich the lives of all pets, regardless of their age or condition. IPC's approach is holistic and individualized, recognizing that true healing and improved quality of life often require a blend of advanced medical modalities, dedicated therapeutic exercises, and compassionate human-animal interaction. They work in close collaboration with referring veterinarians, ensuring a seamless and comprehensive care plan for each patient. IPC’s team, led by Medical Director Dr. Megan Ridley, comprises highly skilled veterinarians and animal rehabilitation therapists, all of whom have undergone extensive training and formal rehabilitation certification programs. This specialized expertise allows them to address a wide variety of cases, including orthopedic and neurological conditions, sports injuries in working dogs, and post-surgical recovery, always striving to restore mobility, reduce pain, and boost confidence in their furry patients. As a partner of Ethos Veterinary Health and Veterinary Rehabilitation & Orthopedic Medicine Partners (VROMP), IPC is at the forefront of expanding and impacting veterinary rehabilitation on a national level while maintaining its commitment to local excellence.
The accessibility of a specialized veterinary facility is crucial, especially when dealing with pets that may have mobility challenges or require frequent visits. Integrative Pet Care is conveniently located at 2520 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647, USA. This address places IPC in the vibrant Logan Square neighborhood, making it readily accessible for residents of surrounding Chicago areas such as Humboldt Park, Bucktown, Wicker Park, and Ukrainian Village. Armitage Avenue is a well-traveled street, which aids in straightforward navigation to the facility. IPC boasts a spacious 6,000-square-foot facility, specifically designed to accommodate various rehabilitation modalities, including a dedicated hydrotherapy room. The size and layout of the clinic are designed to facilitate comfortable movement for pets undergoing therapy. While parking in urban areas can sometimes be a consideration, being located on a main thoroughfare typically provides various options in the vicinity. The clinic's operational hours, including extended weekday hours (until 8:00 pm Monday-Thursday) and Saturday availability (until 2:00 pm), offer flexibility for pet owners with busy schedules, ensuring that necessary rehabilitation sessions can be consistently attended. This thoughtful location and facility design contribute significantly to a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners.
Integrative Pet Care offers a highly specialized and comprehensive array of veterinary rehabilitation and sports medicine services, focusing on improving mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing the overall quality of life for pets. Their state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced modalities and a team of certified professionals to provide tailored treatment plans. Key services include:
- Hydrotherapy: Utilizing two underwater treadmills and a resistance pool, hydrotherapy provides a low-impact environment for strengthening muscles, improving range of motion, and promoting recovery from injuries or surgeries, particularly for pets with orthopedic or neurological conditions.
- Therapeutic Exercise: Customized exercise programs designed to build strength, improve balance, coordination, and endurance. These exercises are often demonstrated to owners for at-home continuation.
- Acupuncture: Performed by certified veterinarians, acupuncture uses fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body, promoting pain relief, reducing inflammation, and improving nerve function for various conditions.
- Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VSMT) / Chiropractic Services: Performed by certified veterinarians, this involves manual adjustments to the spine and other joints to restore proper alignment and mobility, alleviating pain and neurological issues.
- Therapeutic Laser Therapy (Class IV & IIIb): Utilizes focused light energy to reduce pain and inflammation, and accelerate tissue healing at a cellular level, beneficial for arthritis, wounds, and post-surgical recovery.
- Shockwave Therapy (Piezo shockwave): A non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in chronic or difficult-to-treat orthopedic conditions, such as tendonitis or non-healing fractures.
- Electrical Muscle Stimulation (E-Stim / TENS): Used to strengthen weakened muscles, reduce muscle spasms, and manage pain.
- Therapeutic Ultrasound: Distinct from diagnostic ultrasound, this modality uses sound waves to generate heat and promote healing in deep tissues.
- Custom Orthotics & Assistive Devices: Measuring and fitting for custom-made braces, carts, harnesses, and other assistive devices to provide support, improve mobility, and aid in rehabilitation.
- Canine Massage: Performed by certified therapists, massage techniques are incorporated to improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation.
- Pain Management: Comprehensive strategies tailored to individual pets, often combining various modalities and sometimes pharmaceuticals, to effectively manage acute and chronic pain.
- Sports Conditioning: For canine athletes, they develop sport-specific conditioning plans focusing on strength, performance, and injury prevention.

Integrative Pet Care Reviews
We’ve sent three of our fluffiest family members to IPC since 2019 and we don’t want to imagine where we would be without them. From recovering after (multiple) ACL surgeries to providing general quality of life care, IPC has been a lifesaver. All of the staff at IPC is exceptional. The quality of care is excellent. We’re always provided options and guidance. And the post-visit update photos are a treat!Their calm, empathetic, and kind approach gives us confidence that our boys are in the best hands. Even our typically aloof cat seemed to enjoy his visits to IPC, photographic evidence attached. We cannot recommend IPC enough. We’re so grateful to have found them!
Nov 15, 2024 · Lauren CaplanIPC has rewound the clock at least 2 years for my almost 14-yr-old standard golden doodle, Josey. They’ve given her such improved mobility and less pain. As important: she’s got her confidence back. There’s nothing I like more than seeing her proudly trot into IPC for her session. Thanks to you all for giving my heart dog a better quality of life.
Apr 23, 2024 · Amy WellsI truly can not give this team enough praise! They have been helping my dog after TPLO surgery and it has been a wonderful experience. From the receptionist to the doctors to the physical therapists, everyone is spectacular. Always friendly, always so knowledgeable, and always so patient with my baby. Dr. Kopecki diagnosed my dog's cranial cruciate ligament tear within the first five minutes of meeting her, and helped us to find a boarded surgeon with excellent reviews for her TPLO. Dr. Kopecki and her team implement a variety of therapies to help your pup heal. She provided evidence based literature on all treatment options to help me make informed decisions about my dog's care. The progress my dog has made after surgery is incredible, I am so grateful for their care and expertise!
Mar 14, 2025 · Natasha NatoliIPC helped my dog regain mobility after a partial CCL tear. IPC has been amazing, from teaching us at-home exercises, sharing how-to videos, and writing up step-by-step guidelines for what we should do. They customized a program for us, combining drop-off visits twice a week with an at-home exercise plan, medications and acupuncture. With a lot of work, regular check-ins, amazing communication, and dedication, my pup is able to run again. They discovered tension in his back, which no one else had noticed, and made us aware of a spine condition that my pup has. We were able to treat it early and stay on top of it. Thank you so much, IPC, Dr. Kopecki, Katie, Maureen, and the entire staff. Also, the front desk staff is great and has such positive energy.
Nov 05, 2024 · Ana PerryI can't say enough wonderful things about the doctors, techs, and supporting staff here at IPC! My senior (6 years old) giant breed (110lbs) girl had a shoulder injury September 2020, pain medication and regenerative therapy were not enough for her to completely heal from it. It broke my heart because she loved running and couldn't do it for months and months. We had weekly therapies at IPC for half a year, Dr. Ridley came up with different rehab plans according to her progress, and the technicians were so amazing at keeping both us and the doctor in the loop on her performance each session. The client care representatives were always so responsive and efficient to coordinate our scheduling or billing questions. My dog loved going there, and we would most definitely keep up with the rehab if we didn't have to move to another state. But just for our sessions here, we see great improvement on her mobility, she's now able to run again and hike with us!! This makes us so happy!! Big shoutout to Katie for her excellent hydro therapy sessions and Renee for her telemedicine at-home exercise demos!!
