Your Pets Wellness (Bucktown), as a Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner, presents a mixed set of features and highlights based on recent customer feedback. While some aspects of their care have been appreciated, concerns regarding pricing and communication have also been raised.
- Initial Positive Experiences and Compassionate Care: Early experiences, as noted by one long-term client, included a "kind and gentle" vet who "really listened...about their health" and where the client "never felt judged." This suggests that the clinic has, at times, provided highly compassionate and attentive care, creating a welcoming environment for pets and their owners.
- Convenient Location in Bucktown: Located at 2319 N Damen Ave, the clinic is situated in a central and accessible part of Chicago, serving the Bucktown and Logan Square neighborhoods. This geographic convenience is a practical benefit for local pet owners.
- Part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare Network: As a partner of Thrive Pet Healthcare, the clinic benefits from being part of a larger network that aims to provide a continuum of care and access to shared resources. This often means a certain standard of veterinary practice and access to centralized systems. Thrive Pet Healthcare emphasizes "personalized, accessible care through every stage of a pet's life and health" and aims to "empower your best care for pets, their families, and yourself."
- Focus on Wellness and Preventive Care: Their service offerings indicate a strong emphasis on routine wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention, which are foundational for long-term pet health.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the concerns raised in recent customer reviews. These highlight potential areas for improvement from a client perspective:
- Transparency and Consistency in Pricing: Several reviews indicate issues with pricing, including a coupon not being fully honored due to a price increase and unexpected additional charges without clear explanation. This suggests a lack of transparency in billing and potentially inconsistent pricing policies.
- Decline in Perceived Personalization and Communication: Long-term clients expressed a feeling of decreased "genuine love for animals" and a shift towards a "minute clinic" feel, focusing on getting clients "in and out." There were complaints about a lack of "insight, reasoning, and conversation regarding certain recommendations," suggesting a decline in personalized care and clear communication about necessary vs. recommended procedures.
- High Staff Turnover: Mention of "new faces" among both techs and doctors, accompanied by a feeling that the place is "not the same" since previous ownership, could indicate high staff turnover, which can impact consistency of care and client-staff relationships.
- Pressure for Additional Services: One client felt "genuinely shocked and disappointed" when they refused additional blood work, implying a pressure to spend more, even on services they felt were not 100% necessary at that moment.
These points suggest that while the clinic offers essential veterinary services, recent experiences have led some long-time clients to seek alternatives due to concerns over cost transparency, communication, and the perceived level of personalized care.

Your Pets Wellness (Bucktown), A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner Reviews
I sent my friend a coupon for a free exam DIRECTLY FROM yourpetswellness, and she was charged an additional $40, because their exams used to cost $90 but now they're $130. Which is fine, just say $90 off your first exam, or honor what the coupon said? Shady practice, and I've stopped recommending them to my friends which is sad because I used to love them!I brought my cats here for the first time 4 years ago and loved it! The vet was so kind and gentle and really listened to me about their health and I never felt judged. I brought my cat back in for her annual check up and shots which cost $300+, and they looked genuinely shocked and disappointed I refused to spend an additional $300 for blood work that day. The doctor barely spoke to me, man handled my cat a little and I was charged over $100 more than my last visit, and they didnt explain the cost addition. They either have new ownership or have just gone downhill, but I don't think people should go to this vet anymore.
Mar 21, 2025 · Ajiah GilbertEver since Dr. Dory sold the practice this place is not the same. I barely felt any genuine love for animals in this place. The staff was filled with new faces (a sign of high turnover) for both techs and doctors. I love my dog, but at the same time I'm not rich. I'd like transparency about the cost of things before recommending work that isn't 100% necessary. I'd atleast appreciate some insight, reasoning, and conversation regarding certain recommendations or courses of actions. But none of those existed in my last visit, simply felt like a minute clinic that was trying to get me in and out. I've been going here for 8 years so it's sad to say that I'm now exploring alternatives.
Mar 26, 2025 · King NWent here for almost two years but my most recent visit was uncomfortable and I believe they are engaging in predatory pricing practices and upcharging at any chance. Took my dog in for her annual wellness check and vaccines and while the technician's can helpful, the main doctor seems like he is UNCOMFORTABLE with animals. On top of this, I was told to schedule a dental appointment and not told that there was necessary blood work that I could have gotten done that day to schedule the appointment. When calling back to make the dental appointment, they advised me that I would have to come back for another appointment to get blood work done. Based on most recent reviews there seems to be change in ownership within the practice that has decreased the quality.
Apr 19, 2025 · Joi JamesWas really excited to take my just-adopted pup to his first vet appointment, and was excited to see they had a free first visit for new clients. I went in with confirmation from the staff it would be a free visit (of course I understood if my pup needed anything special outside of a wellness exam it would cost money). When asked about my new dog and how he was doing, I mentioned that he has a sensitive stomach just for them to be aware of. I was then told that “because he has these other issues, it no longer makes the appointment a wellness exam and therefore not a free visit”. Essentially, they scammed me and anyone else who experienced this. Because I voiced out loud that there was anything I wanted them to be aware of (bear in mind they did not do anything to treat this in any way, it was a regular wellness exam) they used that against a new patient. My pup was also terrified of the vet, hid under my chair the entire time, and they didn’t seem to care or want to ensure he felt comfortable. It was a very fast check on him with no attempt at getting to know him as a new patient, their way of a rug pull to make money under the guise of a free visit for new patients. Really sad to experience as a first time pet owner who really just wants to make sure my pup has the best care possible.
Jan 15, 2025 · Lauren HarrisJust established my dog here as a patient as we just moved. Everyone in the office was extremely kind and friendly to me and Lilly. The vet we saw was absolutely lovely. Answered all questions thoroughly and was fantastic with Lilly. I feel very confident in Lilly having excellent care here.
