While specific detailed lists of services are often best confirmed directly with the clinic, veterinary practices typically offer a standard range of care designed to maintain pet health and address common medical needs. Based on general veterinary practice and typical client expectations, Sag Harbor Veterinary Clinic would likely provide the following types of services:
Wellness Exams and Preventative Care: This foundational service would include routine physical examinations to assess overall health, customized vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus for dogs; feline distemper, rabies for cats), and guidance on parasite prevention and control (including heartworm, fleas, and ticks). Nutritional counseling for various life stages would also be expected.
Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose health issues, a clinic typically offers basic in-house laboratory testing such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis. They may also utilize external laboratories for more specialized or complex diagnostic tests. Imaging services like X-rays are common for identifying skeletal issues or internal abnormalities.
Surgical Procedures: Most veterinary clinics perform routine surgical procedures, notably spaying and neutering. They may also offer common soft tissue surgeries for issues like lump removals or wound repair. Surgical services typically include pre-surgical assessments, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative pain management.
Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services would include professional dental examinations, ultrasonic scaling and polishing (dental cleanings under anesthesia), and extractions of diseased teeth. Advice on at-home dental hygiene to prevent periodontal disease is also a standard offering.
Medical Consultations and Treatment: This encompasses the diagnosis and management of a wide array of illnesses and conditions, from acute infections and allergies to chronic diseases. This service involves developing personalized treatment plans based on a pet's specific health needs.
Puppy, Kitten, and Senior Pet Care: Age-specific care programs would be provided, including initial health screenings for young pets and specialized attention for geriatric pets, focusing on managing age-related conditions, promoting comfort, and extending longevity.
Pain Management: Developing strategies to manage both acute and chronic pain, utilizing various therapeutic approaches to enhance a pet's comfort and significantly improve their quality of life, especially for those recovering from injury or managing ongoing conditions.
Client Education: Providing pet owners with valuable information and resources to help them make informed decisions about their pet's health and well-being, fostering a collaborative partnership in their pet's care journey.
Sag Harbor Veterinary Clinic has received a variety of feedback from real customers, highlighting different aspects of their service. Here are some key features and highlights based on these reviews:
Welcoming and Kind Environment: Positive reviews consistently describe the clinic as "very welcoming and kind." This suggests an atmosphere where pets and their owners feel at ease upon arrival, which is a crucial first impression for any service-based business, especially in veterinary care.
Explanatory and Informative Staff: Clients appreciate that the staff "always explain what they're doing and why to you." This commitment to clear communication is vital for pet owners who want to understand their pet's health situation and the necessity of various procedures or treatments. It fosters trust and transparency.
Gentle Approach with Anxious Pets: A significant highlight is the staff's ability to handle nervous animals. One reviewer noted that the "vet was giving him pets before examining him making Toby feel comfortable." This gentle, patient approach is incredibly valuable for pets who are stressed by new environments or medical procedures, demonstrating a true understanding of animal behavior.
Staff Niceness: The general sentiment that "The staff is very nice!!" further reinforces the positive interpersonal interactions experienced by many clients, contributing to an overall pleasant visit.
Customer Service and Administrative Challenges: Conversely, some reviews point to significant issues with administrative staff and customer service. Experiences include rude greetings, being told to wait despite having an appointment, and a lack of empathy regarding pet and owner needs (e.g., impatient puppy needing to go to the bathroom). These negative interactions, particularly for new clients, suggest inconsistencies in the front desk experience.
Billing Transparency and Cost Concerns: One review highlights issues with billing, describing it as "money hungry" with "no explanation of the bill" and "charged an arm and a leg for an initial exam/once over." This indicates a potential lack of upfront cost transparency or perceived high pricing, which can be a point of concern for some pet owners.
Inconsistent Administrative Efficiency: The comment about "one of the staff took 10 minutes fumbling with the credit card machine like she’d never used it before" points to potential inefficiencies or lack of training within the administrative processes, impacting overall customer flow and experience.

Sag Harbor Veterinary Clinic Reviews
Sag harbor vet is very welcoming and kind. I have and do take my dog there to get his check ups and vaccines. They always explain what there doing and why to you. (Toby) my dog is very nervous in new surroundings. But the vet was giving him pets before examinating him making Toby feel comfortable. The staff is very nice!!
Aug 09, 2024 · Olivia ChapmanI rarely ever give reviews but when I do they’re typically positive. Sadly, I just had the worst experience at Sag Harbor Vet. I’m a brand new customer with an 8 week old puppy. I was rudely greeted, then told I was too early and had to wait 30 minutes, and the woman at the front desk has such terrible bedside / reception manner that I was taken aback and appalled at how this could be the way they greet and treat a new customer. She also told me if I couldn’t wait, she would consider it a cancellation and charge me $50. My entire afternoon was thrown out of whack with the puppy and they also charged an arm and a leg for an initial exam/once over. Money hungry, rude, and inconsiderate. No explanation of the bill and no consideration about the fact that I had an inpatient puppy that needed to go to the bathroom while one of the staff took 10 minutes fumbling with the credit card machine like she’d never used it before. Not helpful, not sorry, and couldn’t even make eye contact. Their admin staff need a check up from the neck up. I would have loved to have made them my puppy’s primary vet, but zero chance that’s happening.
Jul 18, 2024 · Laura McGarrityI met Dr Browning for the first time while taking Sophie, a friend’s senior dog (14 yrs old), for a check up. I am impressed. He took his time and was sensitive to the dog’s needs. He was patient with questions and he delivered sad news to Sophie’s Mom simply and with care.
Apr 29, 2024 · debra shermanEveryone and both doctors are such caring and attentive people. I trust them with my animals wholeheartedly. While sitting in the lobby waiting for an appointment, I hear some people be very rude to the staff and they remain so professional regardless of the situation. They're always so kind. My pup literally starts to cry when she knows we're driving to the clinic and runs up the stairs to go say hi to everyone. She never touched the ground when she's there.
Jan 24, 2024 · Mariah MI absolutely love the Vet Clinic staff and doctors, my dog literally thinks it’s a treat to go here and he’s been afraid of another vet. We are so grateful for how responsive and attentive they have been to any issues my dog has had. They are always great about helping deal with my dog’s allergies and they always try to get us in as soon as possible even when they are beyond swamped. It is amazing what they are able to do as such a small local clinic with two doctors!
