Lincoln Highway Animal Hospital Introduce
As Iowans, we know the importance of reliable, local care, and that extends to our beloved pets. The search for a veterinary partner who offers comprehensive services and genuine compassion is essential for maintaining the health and happiness of our furry companions. **Lincoln Highway Animal Hospital** in Denison, IA, serves the Crawford County region and surrounding Iowa communities as a dedicated animal hospital and veterinarian practice focused on preventative wellness and general pet healthcare.
The clinic is committed to providing essential, high-quality pet care. According to client feedback, the staff at the hospital has been described as "really great to work with," demonstrating a positive and helpful demeanor in their daily operations. The hospital focuses on meeting the long-term needs of your pet, emphasizing that proper care involves routine vaccinations, periodic examinations, dental checks, and specialized nutrition—all crucial steps for enabling your pet to share years of good times with your family.
However, it is important for local pet owners to consider a full range of client experiences when choosing a provider, especially concerning urgent or life-threatening situations. One former client shared a deeply distressing account regarding a pet poisoning emergency, noting a significant **lack of immediate, life-saving care and compassion** during a critical situation. The pet owner, despite their urgency and the obvious distress of their dog, was reportedly told the clinic "didn’t have time to see us" and was advised to seek help elsewhere. This crucial feedback points to a possible limitation in the clinic's ability to handle walk-in, life-or-death emergencies when the clinic is already at capacity, a factor that is vital for Iowans to weigh when establishing care. The pet's life was ultimately saved by a nearby alternative clinic that prioritized the immediate need.
Therefore, while Lincoln Highway Animal Hospital provides essential routine and general care, Iowans with pets should understand that for time-sensitive, severe emergencies like poisoning or major trauma, they may need to have an alternative, dedicated 24/7 emergency facility identified in advance to ensure the fastest possible intervention. When your pet is simply not feeling well, or if their need is urgent but not immediately life-threatening, the clinic does attempt to work pets in between scheduled appointments, but calling ahead is essential to confirm availability.

The facility's commitment to accessibility and the staff's noted positive demeanor also contribute to a good overall experience for routine visits.
However, Iowans must make an informed decision by weighing the hospital's capability to handle critical, life-threatening emergencies against the convenience of its routine care. While they offer emergency medicine services, client experiences suggest that during busy periods, they may have limitations in accommodating immediate, unscheduled life-or-death crises. For this reason, Lincoln Highway Animal Hospital is an excellent partner for preventative and routine care, but local pet owners should ensure they also have a separate, pre-identified, dedicated 24/7 animal emergency facility in the region for the most severe and time-sensitive health events. By combining the routine care provided here with a known emergency plan, you can ensure your pet has the highest level of health and safety coverage possible.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I am absolutely heartbroken by the lack of compassion and professionalism at this clinic. My dog was poisoned, and when we called to them for help, the staff had told to tell us they didn’t have time to see us. Despite our urgency and the obvious distress my pet was in, they seemed more concerned with their schedule than saving a life. They did provide us with a few other places to try but even then, time was ticking and we were uncertain of how much damage the poison was causing with time passing by. Luckily the amazing people out at Otter Creek Veterinary Clinic in Schleswig we’re able to help us just in time. Even with them being busy they were able to help us immediately and basically help save my puppy’s life. If it weren't for them, I can’t imagine what might have happened.I understand that clinics can get busy, but when a life is on the line, there is no excuse for turning a pet away. I won’t ever be going here anything , and I strongly recommend other pet owners to look elsewhere, especially if you want a clinic that actually prioritizes your pet’s well-being. - Very upset with your service. After you saw my dog when he was sick last thursday u told me to call u at any hour if he got worse. I did. I left messages, many messages. Never got a call back. My little Nicki died in my arms sunday morning. Thanks for nothing. He suffered and was in pain and this place did not help him at all. Only cared about getting paid for his visit last week. Never will take a pet here again! October 24 · Carrie Cassens-Johnson

- I recently adopted a puppy from the pound. They treated him before he was adopted and I have taken him there for everything else since then. They are very kind and my dog loves going. They take very good care of him and the prices are very reasonable. July 17 · Morgan Klein
