Maine Veterinary Medical Center is more than just a veterinary clinic; it is a full-service, 24/7 specialty and emergency referral hospital designed to handle the most intricate and critical cases. Their commitment to providing "top notch care" is consistently echoed by grateful clients. One such client, Kim & Perry Bennett, shared a poignant testament regarding their beloved greyhound, Willow, who battled osteosarcoma. They expressed immense gratitude for the "professional, knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate" teams in the surgery, oncology, and radiology departments, along with all supporting staff. Despite eventually losing Willow, the Bennetts emphasized that "due to the outstanding care she received, she was able to live another comfortable year and give and receive so much love and enjoyment." Their closing sentiment speaks volumes: "We are fortunate to have such a top notch animal hospital in Maine!!!" This highlights MVMC's ability to not only extend a pet's life but also significantly enhance its quality, even in the face of a challenging diagnosis like osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer often treated with surgery and chemotherapy).
Another powerful story comes from a client whose beagle, Bandit, was paralyzed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease, a condition where discs between vertebrae degenerate and can cause pain, weakness, or paralysis by pressing on the spinal cord). This owner made a 3.5-hour drive, a testament to MVMC's reputation, and described the care as "top notch." They specifically praised Dr. Maggie Green, the neurologist, as Bandit's "hero" for giving him "back his ability to walk." During Bandit's four-night stay, the staff provided "excellent care," sending multiple photos and consistently keeping the owner informed. This level of communication, combined with exceptional medical outcomes, makes MVMC a truly extraordinary facility. These testimonials underscore that MVMC not only provides advanced medical treatments but also offers unparalleled compassion and communication, recognizing the deep bond between pets and their human families.

Jun 18, 2025 · Kim BennettThank you MVMC for the top notch care provided to my beagle, Bandit, and thank you for being so compassionate and caring with me as well. Well worth the 3.5 hour drive. I would recommend this place to everyone! Dr Maggie Green, the neurologist that did Bandits surgery is his hero because she gave him back his ability to walk after he was paralyzed with IVDD. He stayed 4 nights here and received excellent care, and the staff sent me pics of him multiple times and kept me informed with what was going on the whole time.
Jan 05, 2025 · Sarah StroutWe used the emergency services recently and when we got there we called the number on the sign of our parking spot number. Within a minute, a few techs came out and took my dog. One person stayed behind and took down any background information I had of my furbaby and her symptoms and then we went inside and sat in the waiting room. After a quick exam the doctor came out directly to give a detailed explanation of her exam and then presented us with her recommended next steps. Before proceeding, a separate tech brought us with the estimates after the doctor left and helped us work out a course of action and presented us with financing options. (They don't do in house payment plans, but they work with Care credit, Affirm, and Scratch Pay for financing.) The tech was really kind and gave us plenty of space and time and help as I bawled my eyes out trying to figure out what I could fiscally do.The facility is accessible, up to date, and easy to navigate to. The majority of the techs appear to be very professional and one tech (Kelci, I think?) was so straightforward and nice, we really liked her! The doctor did a good job explaining in detail my dog's prognosis and giving us plenty of information to make an informed decision and to help us understand what was going on.The cost is pricey, but so is anywhere you're going to go to the emergency vet. It was reassuring to know that there was in house specialists and that we really felt like everyone knew what they were talking about.Nowhere is perfect, but I'm glad we chose this hospital that day.
May 31, 2025 · Kianna WOur local Vet referred us to MVMC for an issue with our dog, Roxy, with her GI tract. The compassion, kindness and expertise of the staff is so evident- from initial check in, to frequent updates and great diagnosis and follow up info. Taking your dog in for an emergency is never fun - but MVMC made it much easier. I have mentioned them to several friends and their immediate reaction was always the same - "oh yes, they are great!".
Feb 11, 2025 · Paul KirschI’m so thankful for Dr. Ben Miller @ Maine Veterinary and the staff. My little guy, Dunkin’ Donuts somehow completely lost his middle claw outside and was bleeding all over; it just wouldn’t clot. He was yelping in pain. The team took care of him, got him right from my car & we were out in less than 30 minutes on an early Sunday morning. My bill was at least half of what I expected with pain medications & a new cone of shame. Our family is so thankful for their fast care!
