Marina Village Veterinary prides itself on being a truly comprehensive veterinary facility, offering a wide range of services that integrate both Western and Eastern veterinary medicine to meet diverse pet needs. While a complete list of all services is best confirmed directly with the clinic, based on available public information, their offerings likely include:
- Wellness & Vaccinations: Tailored vaccination protocols for each cat and dog based on individual risk and benefit, ensuring each pet is examined before vaccination to confirm they are healthy enough. This forms the foundation of preventative care.
- Diagnostics: As a full-service pet hospital, they perform in-house X-rays, blood tests, urinalyses, and other necessary evaluations. They also have access to specialized laboratories and facilities for advanced diagnostics like CT/MRI when required.
- Surgery: Their veterinarians perform various surgeries, including routine spays and neuters, tumor removal, and biopsies. For orthopedic and more complicated procedures, they can arrange for board-certified surgeons to work on-site as needed.
- Advanced Dentistry: Comprehensive dental services for dogs and cats, including professional cleanings with high-frequency water scalers and polishers, evaluations for gum health and tooth integrity, dental X-rays, and extractions or oral surgery as needed.
- Alternative Therapy & Holistic Pet Care: This is a significant highlight, offering options like acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cold laser therapy, and regenerative medicine. They focus on combining traditional and alternative therapies to support the "whole animal: mind, body, and spirit."
- Nutrition & Weight Management: Guidance on whole-food diets tailored to a pet's age, activity level, and medical needs, along with recommendations for supplements like omega-3s, probiotics, or joint support.
- Behavioral Counseling & Training: Services aimed at addressing behavioral challenges and fostering a positive relationship between pets and their owners, including professional dog training.
- Pain Management: Strategies to identify and alleviate pain, ensuring pets' comfort, including integrative approaches.
- Pharmacy: An in-house pharmacy stocked with medications, over-the-counter products for parasite control and grooming, and prescription diet food. They also have an online pharmacy for convenient refills.

- Ovary Sparing Spay/Vasectomy: Offering hormone-sparing sterilization options, reflecting their integrative and modern approach to pet health.
Marina Village Veterinary is highly regarded for several key features and highlights that resonate strongly with pet owners in Alameda and the wider California community:
- Integrative Veterinary Approach: A significant highlight is their unique combination of traditional Western and Eastern medicine techniques. This holistic approach ensures that care is customized to each patient's individual needs, addressing body, mind, and soul.
- Exceptional Veterinarians: Doctors like Dr. Hoe and Dr. Ashley (Dr. Ashley McCaughan) are consistently praised by clients for being "fantastic," "incredible," and "very smart." They are noted for their deep knowledge, professionalism, and ability to make pets and owners feel at ease. Dr. Ashley is particularly recognized for her expertise in acupuncture and herbal medicine.
- Compassionate and Caring Staff: The entire team, including vet techs and the front office crew, receives high commendation for being "super nice," "friendly," "loving," and genuinely dedicated animal lovers. They treat pets with kindness and patience, ensuring a gentle, reassuring touch.
- Responsive and Accessible Communication: Clients appreciate their responsiveness, noting that they are "reachable & reply quickly" via text or call, which is crucial during stressful times or for quick queries.
- Support During Difficult Situations: One review specifically highlights their helpfulness during a cat's serious illness, providing options and making the transfer to an emergency hospital easy, demonstrating empathy and efficiency under pressure.
- Emphasis on Client Education: The clinic is known for taking the time to explain everything thoroughly, answer questions patiently, and educate pet owners about treatment importance, rather than pressuring them into immediate decisions.
- Comfortable and Clean Environment: The facility is described as having a "comfortable office" and a "clean and beautifully designed space," contributing to a positive experience for visitors.
- Referral Program: The "referral gift" program ($25 for both referrer and new client) indicates a valuing of client loyalty and word-of-mouth recommendations, signaling confidence in their service.
It is important to note that while many clients have overwhelmingly positive experiences, one review raised concerns about inconsistent record-keeping, perceived lack of accountability for mistakes, and high costs compared to the quality experienced in that specific instance. This highlights the importance for potential clients to meticulously review records and discuss pricing transparently.

Marina Village Veterinary Reviews
I’m still new client- so far had three appts for 2 cats- Dr. Hoe & Dr. Ashley are fantastic…!!! They really do have the best interest of their patients. The vet techs are also great! And can’t forget about Front Office crew. Super nice. they are very responsive- text or call, they are reachable & reply quickly!! My first visit was tough because my cat Kabuki was really sick- they gave me options & were helpful when I decided I was taking cat to emergency hospital, made transfer easy. I am happy my friend referred me to Marina Village Pet Vet! (We both got $25 referral gift).
Jul 02, 2025 · Lita TullochMy first two appointments went well, which made me confident in my choice for my kitten's care. However, my third appointment raised serious concerns. After a tough appointment Where the vet and tech were not synced up and asking me questions that they should know the answer to (ex: has your cat had any vaccines? On my third appointment at the office) Not taking time to answer questions about my cat during the appointment. Etc etc etc I emailed to let them know I was disappointed in my experience and I asked for all records as I leave to find another vet. In reviewing my cat's records I received today , I found they had been altered a lie fabricated and written in to address a specific complaint I made. They are different than the records that were sent to me the day of the appointment. While I've been told it's just a coincidence, the inaccuracy in their recordkeeping is alarming. There were quite a few mistakes made with very little accountability sometimes it was their systems color coating other times it was they don't know how that happened... It's all incredibly disheartening.I was quoted almost $3000 for a routine kitten spay, and the standard visit fee exceeds $100. While I understand they are a small business, the quality of care provided, careless mistakes, lack of accountability and inaccurate record keeping does not justify such exorbitant costs.. If you decide to use this vet, I strongly recommend meticulously checking your records a few weeks later for accuracy.

Jun 11, 2025 · Sally HanEveryone has been great very professional on time. Made the drive worth it as I drive an hour and a half to get there. My dog is getting acupuncture and I have seen an improvement after the second session.
Apr 30, 2025 · Brittney SouzaWhen moving to a new community, it's hard to know where to turn for fury family members' medical care. After one false start close to our new home we chose to take our former veterinarian's advice and drive a little farther to Marina Village Veterinary. It was a joy and a relief to walk into clean, bright offices filled with friendly, competent and caring people. Our oldest cat, Stuart Trouble Muffin, needed immediate care and got it with professionalism, caring, and concern for both us and him. Everyone we encountered communicated with us promptly and clearly with respect, expertise and attention to detail. Over the next day or so, together we developed a treatment plan for Stuart that gave me confidence we were doing the best possible for Stuart. I'm so glad we turned to the crew at Marina Village Veterinary. It's important that our animal companions receive excellent care, but it's also important that we pet parents have relaxed confidence that our family members are in caring, expert hands. I now have that feeling for our furry family members.
