East Bay Veterinary Clinic Reviews
This was a better than expected outcome. This was our first time bringing our kitty into the office. Scheduling the appointment online was a breeze and they were available within less than a week.We were seen at our appointment time with no real wait time. The nurse handled our skiddish baby with care and the doctor was knowledgeable and friendly. The whole staff made the experience pleasant. They offered us same day service for vaccines! This was a very pleasant experience and we're bringing our second cat soon.
Jun 12, 2025 · Desmond RodgersI had a pretty decent experience at this place. I had to wait a few minutes when I arrived from my appointment time but that was expected and normal. The veterinarian was very kind and didn't do anything without consent which I very much appreciated. The only thing that could have been different is that it was recommended because my cat is now getting into senior territory that I should maybe get some blood work for her to test her kidneys and it was never given as an option during that appointment. I did get an email with the costs for dental work my cat needs which is a bit out of my budget and I'm going to have to save up for her but that's not necessarily a bad thing because it's just standard procedures and costs. I may have ordered the blood work at the session if I had been given the option however. Now I'm going to have to make another appointment which means I'm going to have to pay for an extra appointment to do that. I'm going to have to check my email to see if I have any estimates for that but I only seen previously the dental estimates. I would definitely take buckles back here again and I suppose I should have asked about doing the blood work right then so I don't blame the staff.
Feb 28, 2025 · J GravesEast Bay Vet Clinic is full of amazing people. My baby, Scout, is terrified of vet appointments... like most cats. They've been her main vet for 7 years, and I've never had a bad experience. In addition to routine check-ups, they've dealt with her injuring herself (she jumped out of a 2nd story window) and a concerning skin allergy problem. I very much appreciate how friendly and detailed they are. I have nothing but glowing things to say. Thank you for taking care of my precious gremlin over the years.
May 22, 2025 · Nicole Smith⭐ ONE STAR — East Bay Veterinary Clinic (Oakland, CA)Unprofessional, Disorganized, and Unsafe for Service Animals and Disabled ClientsI am sharing this review out of deep concern and frustration. My experience with East Bay Veterinary Clinic (EBVC) as the handler of a medical service animal has been appalling—from unauthorized billing to denied care during a medical need, to repeated disrespect and obstruction from staff, particularly the receptionist Haley.⸻🐾 What Happened:Over the past year, my service animal was seen at EBVC for regular check-ups, vaccinations, a dental cleaning, and neuter. I provided a new card for surgery-day billing, yet they charged an old card I had asked them to remove—twice. When I requested a refund, they told me I had to come in person, even though I was out of state and they had no authorization to charge that card. After the neuter, staff were rude and unprofessional. They dropped my dog’s leash on the ground and told me to “just read the paperwork” instead of explaining how the procedure went. They also damaged his specialized $70 training collar, removing links without asking. No reimbursement, no apology.⸻🚨 The Urgent Incident:In June 2025, my service dog developed a foxtail in his ear. A vet nearby diagnosed it but couldn’t remove it, so I called EBVC. Their receptionist Haley was dismissive, combative, and refused to help, even though my dog was in pain. When I arrived in person later that day, a different receptionist kindly tried to squeeze us in, but my dog couldn’t stay still for removal.I signed all the paperwork for the next-day procedure since I had cancer-related medical appointments and someone else would be picking my dog up. Despite this, when my friend arrived, staff refused care, claiming no paperwork had been signed. I called from my oncology appointment and was told Haley was unavailable—only to later find her sitting at the front desk. When I asked her to retrieve the documents, she located them within seconds. It was clear: they had lied.⸻💳 Then They Demanded Upfront Payment:Even after showing proof of signed documents and past payments, they told me care would be denied unless I paid in full upfront—violating their own policy, which states payment is due at discharge (also confirmed on their front desk signage). I had paid that way for every previous visit. I asked for a written explanation or copy of their policy. Nothing was provided. After I insisted they check my file and showed them bank records proving all prior balances were paid, their tone changed. They admitted my service dog, but later that day, refused to release him to my friend, despite our prior agreement. They called the police on her, and ultimately released my dog without any aftercare instructions or post-procedure summary.⸻⚠️ Serious Issues:• Unauthorized billing of an old card without consent• No invoice or receipt ever provided for that charge• Lost medical paperwork, then pretended it didn’t exist• Tampering with service dog equipment• Discriminatory behavior toward a disabled client and service dog• No post-operative information or medical documentation provided• Failure to provide urgent care despite signed forms and advance authorization• Police involvement to forcibly resolve a situation they created⸻💔 Why This Matters:As someone with a serious medical condition, I rely on my service animal daily—for safety, mobility, and access to care. EBVC’s negligence disrupted my own cancer appointments, put my dog’s health at risk, and caused immense emotional stress.⸻📉 Final Word:This clinic is not safe for disabled clients, chronically ill individuals, or anyone who relies on transparency and compassion from their veterinary provider. They are disorganized, retaliatory, and failed to honor their own policies. Worst of all, they showed no concern for a dog in visible pain. Please learn from my experience. I would never trust them again—and I urge others to go elsewhere.Update: for the true account as happened, see yelp review in response
Jul 01, 2025 · Ali AmorExcellent care of my pup. Good at keeping us informed throughout the procedures. A shout-out to Lee, at the front desk, who manages to be sweet and smiling while handling a bevy of clients and constant phone calls. Give her a raise!
