Mascoutah Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Mascoutah and the surrounding Illinois communities, the Mascoutah Animal Hospital serves as a local resource for comprehensive animal health care. Located conveniently on West Main Street, this animal hospital is committed to providing a variety of medical treatments and essential services for companion animals. The hospital aims to be a reliable partner in maintaining the long-term health and well-being of local pets, from puppies and kittens through to senior companions.
The hospital's reputation, as reflected in various customer experiences, suggests a team with a high degree of patience and skill, particularly when dealing with nervous or semi-feral animals. One glowing review highlights the staff for being "AMAZING," taking the time to explain procedures and managing to perform necessary tasks like spaying, shots, blood draws, and nail clipping on a difficult pet without incident. This level of dedication to minimizing stress for anxious animals and their owners is a major commendation for the care team.
While the positive feedback emphasizes exceptional compassion and skill in handling tricky patients, it is important for prospective clients to note that other reviews point to challenges with administrative and procedural consistency. Specifically, there have been reported instances of appointments not being properly logged, a hurried physical examination process, a lack of clear follow-up instructions on pet medication, and minor administrative errors such as being notified a pet was overdue for a vaccine just received. The hospital’s management is recognized for attempting to rectify the issues, such as contacting the client later to offer assistance with medication, demonstrating an effort to improve client service. This feedback suggests that while the clinical skill for hands-on, difficult procedures is outstanding, clients should confirm appointments and proactively ask detailed questions during the consultation to ensure all their needs are met.
Ultimately, Mascoutah Animal Hospital offers a core set of services vital to the community, backed by a staff that is highly effective and compassionate during complex patient interactions. It remains a key local facility for routine care, surgical procedures, and essential non-medical needs like boarding and grooming.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I brought my semi feral girl there to be spayed and get shots. The staff was AMAZING ! They took time to explain exactly how it would go. I’m not sure how they did it but they were able to draw blood, give shots, shave her belly, and clip her nails without her beating them up! Absolutely the only place I will take my babies to from now on!! I only wish I found them sooner! January 15 · Lysa Beebe
- My sister's review:"Scheduled an appointment about 3 weeks out, but they never actually put it on the schedule. When I showed up for my scheduled appointment, they didn't even have my dog in their system. They did have time to fit my appointment in pretty much right away, so we were still able to get it done when we'd planned to. During the actual appointment, the vet briefly ran her hands over my dog's back and lifted his ears to glance in, without using any tools. The entire exam took less than 60 seconds. When I asked about flea medicine recommendations, she listed lots of options that are available on the market, but didn't tell me anything about them, which ones she recommended, or the pros and cons of any of them. She also said that tick medicine was not necessary. She said that she would let the ladies at the reception desk know to talk to me more about flea medicine options, but the ladies missed the note to do so. They did contact me later, offering assistance with the flea medicine if I returned to the clinic. A few days later, they emailed again to let me know my dog was overdue for the vaccine that they gave him at the appointment. Overall everyone at the clinic seemed to be incompetent and disorganized. We will not be returning to this animal hospital. Finally, while this would not be appropriate for any animal, my dog is a trained service animal, so I personally take his health very seriously, since he is medical equipment that I rely on." - The vet is not passionate about her profession/animals. Insensitive, rude, and she doesn't interact with the animals very good. Found a vet that love their animals and is welcoming. No regrets leaving... July 17 · Rachel Jackson
- The best animal clinic I have ever used. We’ve moved around quite a bit and having a handful of cats, I’ve always sought a good vet that didn’t charge an arm and a leg. We had a reasonable vet in Murphy but even there, there were limitations and she couldn’t run certain tests. The moscoutah animal clinic not only keeps fees reasonable so that we never have to choose between groceries or pet medication, but they are also extremely thorough and professional. I was pleasantly surprised when they called me into a room to go over options for my cat to be spayed, allowing me to opt for longer pain relief for her. Thank you Mascoutah Animal Hospital!!! - Both are dogs went here for checkups we were told nothing was wrong with them and they said it would clear up in a couple of days. It did not we went to another animal shelter turned out our dogs were both dying. It was already too late. Had to put them down. Our cat who is very old 15 has been waiting for blood work for almost a week after saying the results would be in the next day. They were not , we didn’t get a call from them after they promised. I’ve been going here with my family and my pets since I was growing but I will NEVER look at this place the same, EVER AGAIN. Close down for all I care anymore. February 07 · Donavin Frantz
