Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital shines with several critical features and highlights that are paramount for an emergency care facility, as consistently reflected in patient experiences.
Immediate Response and Rapid Treatment: In emergency situations, speed is of the essence. Customers consistently note that they were "taken back immediately for treatment" upon arrival, highlighting the hospital's efficient triage and readiness to act, particularly crucial for cases like pet poisoning.
Unwavering Compassion and Empathy: This is a recurring and strong theme in client feedback. Whether it's supporting grieving owners after the sudden passing of a pet ("incredibly kind and patient," "let us sit in a secluded, comfortable room and hold him") or treating a pet who ingested poison ("so kind and calm"), the staff's compassionate approach provides immense comfort during highly stressful times.
Clear Communication and Updates: The staff ensures pet owners are "kept updated on everything they were doing," which is vital for reducing anxiety and building trust when a pet's life is on the line.
Focus on Patient Care First: A significant highlight is their policy of "did not demand payment first," unlike some other emergency clinics. This allows immediate focus on the pet's well-being without delaying critical treatment due to financial processes, a practice deeply appreciated by owners in distress.
Thoughtful and Respectful End-of-Life Support: The profound kindness extended during euthanasia, including practical details like providing a body bag and allowing ample time for grieving in a private space, demonstrates an exceptional level of care for both the pet and the human family.
Reasonable Cost for Emergency Care: Despite providing immediate, high-quality emergency intervention, one client noted that the "bill was not astronomical." This indicates a commitment to fair pricing, which is a significant relief for owners facing unexpected veterinary expenses.

Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital Reviews
We found our perfectly healthy baby kitty Ollie deceased under the bed in March and rushed him here. The vets confirmed he was deceased and reassured us that he likely had a cardiac event and that our other cats were in no danger. The night shift crew were incredibly kind and patient. They let us sit in a secluded, comfortable room and hold him for a while with absolutely no rush to leave. A weird detail but a nice touch, they were able to provide a body bag to put him in, something we never got from our old vet when we put our old cat down. We would 100% use this as our regular vet if we lived in Shrewsbury, but we have a longer drive there. I wish we had one of these locations in Hanover.Ollie was only six when he passed away, and there was nothing wrong with him that we could see. His sudden death was hard but Mason Dixon was there for us during our time of need.
May 15, 2025 · SynthLast night my dog found and ate 2 mice killer bricks while we were moving. We went straight to Mason Dixon. They took her back immediately for treatment. Unlike Queen Street they did not demand payment first. They were so kind and calm. They kept us updated on everything they were doing. Which thankfully was “only” inducing vomiting then counteracting that with anti nausea medicine. My sweet girl is fine. And the bill was not astronomical. So thankful to have this vet ER close by.
May 21, 2025 · Katie NovakVery lucky to have this level of care 24/7 365 days. It gives animals a fighting chance at odd times/holiday weekends. Our beloved cat fell very sick at 3am. They did everything possible to help her with an enlarged spleen. At the end our best little friend went into cardiac arrest and couldn’t be save. We were grateful to give her a fighting chance to live. You are in great caring hands when an emergency comes up. Thank you for trying so hard.
Dec 03, 2024 · David LamarcaI couldn’t recommend Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital and their amazing staff enough! We had a scare this week when our 85-pound shepherd/lab mix suddenly couldn’t hold himself up and was clearly and audibly in pain. We rushed him in, not knowing what to expect and Dr. Loguidice, along with the entire team, was so thorough, kind and supportive to two very stressed-out pup parents.Thankfully, it wasn’t a life-threatening emergency, but we did discover that our guy has severe hip dysplasia, degenerative disc disease, and arthritis—conditions we had no idea about despite his regular vet checkups. Their careful diagnosis and compassionate care gave us the clarity and direction we needed moving forward. We’re forever grateful for Mason Dixon Animal Emergency Hospital and their exceptional doctors and staff. Thank you for everything you do!
Dec 20, 2024 · Kacey MurphyI have nothing but great things to say about Mason Dixon Animal Hospital. Unfortunately our cat, Luna, took a sudden turn in health and had to be put down. Everyone from the front office to the vet, and vet techs that we saw were empathetic and kind. It was what we needed when we were already dealing with the thought of losing our beloved cat. We will miss her but feel relieved that we got quick answers and that she was given relief. Highly recommend them for any of your animal needs.
