Mathewson Jeffrey DVM Reviews
had a deeply disappointing experience at Dr. Mathewson's office with my daughter and her sick puppy. We arrived before opening hours due to a medical emergency, as the puppy was showing alarming symptoms (fever, lethargy, refusing food/water). Despite the urgency, the gentleman at the front desk was rude and dismissive, upset that we didn’t have an appointment, even though we tried calling multiple times with no answer or option to leave a message.Dr. Jeffery Mathewson was equally unprofessional, prioritizing his frustration about our unscheduled visit over the puppy’s critical condition. He scolded my daughter, a devoted pet owner, for not taking the puppy’s temperature (she didn’t own a thermometer) and made her feel terrible during an already distressing situation. He even told us never to return without an appointment, suggesting an ER vet instead, which we weren’t aware was necessary for his own patient. The lack of empathy was shocking. The clinic felt unclean, and the overall experience was demeaning. We took the puppy to an ER vet immediately after, where we received compassionate and professional care. I cannot recommend this practice and urge others to seek more caring veterinary services. The difference in Dr. Mathewson's office and the new vet, Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service, is incredible. They are compassionate, super friendly, and really seem to care about their patients. They are also helpful and kind to new pet owners that are learning to be the best pet owners they can be!
