What is worth choosing McMillin Animal Hospital?
When considering a veterinary clinic for your pet in Washington, the choice is a deeply personal one. McMillin Animal Hospital presents a strong case, supported by the overwhelmingly positive experiences of many local pet owners. The first review provided is a perfect example of what makes this clinic a top choice. The client, who brought in both an older dog and a new puppy, was impressed by Dr. Emerson's expertise and the team's ability to "handle it like pros." The staff's "super calm, patient, and kind" demeanor is a huge benefit, especially when dealing with multiple pets and the stress of a vet visit. The client’s emphasis on the reasonable pricing and the absence of "surprise charges" speaks to the clinic's integrity and commitment to placing the animals' needs above profit, a quality that is highly valued by pet owners. They felt the team "actually cared more about the animals than pushing extra stuff," a sentiment that builds trust and loyalty.
However, it is essential to consider all feedback. A second, more critical review, highlights some serious concerns regarding a past experience. This client points out issues with communication, perceived rushing during a sensitive time (euthanasia), and feeling overcharged. The review mentions a lack of pre-euthanasia sedation, which, while not always medically necessary depending on the situation, is a compassionate practice that many veterinarians employ. The client also felt appointments were overbooked, leading to a rushed environment, and noted a rude assistant and parking issues. These points are important to acknowledge as they show that, like any business, experiences can vary. However, the contrast between this experience and the overwhelmingly positive first review suggests a possible shift in practice or that some experiences are not representative of the clinic's overall approach. The initial review, which is more recent in tone, paints a picture of a clinic that is down-to-earth, transparent, and focused on quality care. The value proposition of McMillin Animal Hospital, therefore, lies in its potential to provide solid, no-nonsense veterinary care at a reasonable price. For pet owners in Washington who prioritize a professional, straightforward approach and a team that is genuinely knowledgeable and caring, many have found this clinic to be an excellent fit. As with any healthcare decision, it’s best to consider a range of feedback, and the positive aspects highlighted by many clients—such as transparent pricing, knowledgeable staff, and a calm environment—are strong indicators of a clinic that is worth considering for your pet’s care.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Had such a great experience at McMillan Animal hospital! Dr. Emerson really knows his stuff and was awesome with both our older dog and new puppy. They helped us figure out some arthritis issues and eye irritation with our senior pup, and made sure everything was explained in a way that actually made sense. We had both dogs in at once, nail trims and updated shots for both, and the whole team handled it like pros—super calm, patient, and kind the entire time.No surprise charges or random add-ons like we've had at other places. The prices were super reasonable, and it felt like they actually cared more about the animals than pushing extra stuff.Highly recommend if you're looking for a down-to-earth, solid vet who really knows what they’re doing.
July 23 · Lindsay WilsonI used to go here with the past pets I had. One was 18 years old and had been very sick for the last three years of his life. I took him in one day when Dr Emerson wasn't there and apparently my cat had a tumor on his liver, but she didn't tell me about it. I took him back in on a later date becaused I was confused about what she said and that's when I was told about the tumor. It got to the point that he needed to be euthanized. I didn't have issues with them until this happened. The day I took him in to get it done, the doctor peeked inside the door with the needle and was inject him just like that. I said wait a minute, I want to see the x-rays. The tumor turned out to be very large. Then the assistant charged me for an exam on top of the euthanasia. It took over a month to get credit for that. There was no exam. It wasn't until I went to Sumner veterinary hospital for my other cat later on who unfortunately had an embolism and had to be euthanized, that they are supposed to give a sedative first and Dr Emerson did not do that. They spent a lot of time with me and my cat in Sumner and at Mcmillan I felt rushed and they overcharged me too. On top of that, the assistant kept giggling the whole time we were there. What? So rude to behave that way when my friend of 18 years was gone. Two months later, I took a new pet in to see him and he wanted to give another rabies shot even though he already had one on his record. Most of the time there is no parking and people have to park on the highway. Yes, they are cheaper, but they overbook appointments and he is running in and out to get to the next patient. Also I made three attempts to make an appointment for my cats eye and no one returned my call. I have to better for my pet. He is too precious. Is really worth it to save 20 dollars?
July 21 · Christina D'AmoreAffordable pet care and everyone is so sweet and attentive. Brought my dog to get a big tumor removed off of his eyelid and they did such a wonderful job ! And he was happy as can be when I picked him up.
July 31 · Not TodayI always love this place, my animals come here and get pampered and medically treated within minutes. Twice now I have come here for assistance with my dog, the vet looks at my dog for less than 60 seconds and already knows how to properly assess my animals condition. I refuse to go anywhere else as they seem to know exactly what they are doing. If you want honest answers, great pricing, and a place for your animal to feel comfortable, this is without a doubt the best place to go! Amirah-rose and I will always be coming back to this place.
April 04 · Jaquan SatchelDr. Emerson and his staff are amazing!! Brought my big girl in for a visit, we hoped giving her a shot for allergies would take care of the issues at hand and they did, she is back to her normal self today! Yay! Dr. Emerson is very kind and gentle! His staff are all very sweet and love on my girls when I bring them in!
