I want to thank Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic for taking care of our 9 month old hen, Blanche! Blanche was attacked by a hawk (?) and was left with a severe head wound with missing tissue, exposed skull, and lacerated muscle connecting her head to her neck. With all that happened to her, she should be dead. We drove the 2 hours to the closest animal clinic that would treat chicken emergencies, Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic. After Dr. Christy Peters observed her, and she let us know that the prognosis was not good. Dr. Peters said she was willing to perform the surgery needed, but it was very risky. Blanche was still strong and alert. We decided to try the risky surgery. With all odds stacked against her, Blanche was operated on by Dr. Peters and came out of surgery surprisingly well. I'm happy to say that after one day, Blanche is drinking her own water and eating scrambled eggs on her own. She seems to have full movement of her neck and head. It's still early, and she has a long road ahead before she can join the rest of the flock, but this is a miracle to us. I can't give enough thanks to Dr. Peters and the entire staff at Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic. Stripey, Nugget, and Trumpet say thank you for saving their sister!Six days after surgery and Blanche seems strong and healthy. She's eating, drinking, and laying as if nothing ever happened. She even had a quarantined visit with the rest of the flock. I highly recommend this facility. - Ed Conley

Location and Accessibility

Strategically located at 191 Camden Rd, Warren, ME 04864, USA, the Midcoast Animal Emergency Clinic is situated to serve a wide geographical area within Maine. The clinic's dedicated facility ensures that there is appropriate parking and a layout designed for efficient handling of emergency arrivals, reducing stress during already difficult circumstances.
