Miramonte Veterinary Hospital Reviews
My partner and I have two rabbits - Winter and Frost - and lived in the Bay Area for ~3 years. We always went to see Dr. Taylor and his staff each year for their yearly check ups.We also had an emergency vet visit last May that Dr. Taylor and the team were tremendously helpful with ! Our little sweetie, Winter, was on the verge of passing away from an unknown reason, and it was very scary and stressful for us. Her body was completely shutting down, and Dr. Taylor and his team did everything they could to help Winter. They watched her all day, gave her fluids, and various medicines. It took several days of all day vet attention, and all evening and nighttime watching on our part with a lot of medicine administration. And we were certain she was going to pass away, and her sister Frost, was so sad because she could tell. But the vet and team kept trying everything they could to help her system recover. And we remember Winter wasn't doing well and wasn't moving, but in the middle of the night - we were sleeping on the floor near their play pen, Winter came and hopped over to us and finally peed (she hadn't been able to for a long time) and she started the ourney of getting better! She still had to see the vet every day for almost a week and take about 7 medications, but she has been doing great since May ☺️! We have been so happy she is all better and back to her happy, curious, beautiful self!In general, this was the honest experience that we usually had at the vet:- Dr. Taylor usually did recommend something beyond what we were expecting, so the price was always a bit more than what we expected.- usually these tests were actually quite helpful. For example, he recommended we do an X-ray because he felt Winter might have arthritis and when we saw the X-ray, he was definitely correct.- also the prices are a bit expensive, but I think this is due to the cost of living in the area and also having a vet with so many years of experience across many different animals.Anyways, here's a couple beautiful photo of Winter this week! Happy and loving her fluffy bunny life!
Feb 14, 2025 · EnderDr. Taylor treated Tweet T. Boid, our canary, immediately after a horrible accident. Dr. Taylor was compassionate and professional, handling the situation expertly with Wendy’s help.I received medication and detailed instructions on how to care for him as he heals and Wendy was very considerate to call and check up on him. A few days later, he’s doing so much better and just took a bath!I had stupidly left his cage door opened and he got out when I was out of the house. Our cat dutifully retrieved him, but put too much pressure on him and caused some damage. I called many vets in the area, but none treated birds. I was so relieved when I finally reached Wendy at Miramonte Vet Hospital, who told me to bring him right over. Highly recommend!
Feb 27, 2024 · Alex BerettaAfter calling 11 different veterinarians all morning (plus 7 late night vets late last night), I finally found one that could see our sweet 2 year old Syrian hamster! They were able to see her immediately and quickly confirm that she was at her end of life 😢They also warned me that the prognosis didn't sound good in advance before taking the $92 visit, which I appreciated. It was something we were prepared for given her age and decline in activity over the last couple of weeks, but we wanted to know for sure.It provided our family great solace knowing there wasn't much we could do and that she likely wasn't suffering. Dr. Taylor told us that she was not likely to respond well to any testing or treatment, and that the stress of that process could kill her.Given her unresponsive state and very low energy, Dr. Taylor and the kind lady working there (I think his assistant? Sorry I forgot your name!) both said that she was likely already in the process of passing 💔🕊️They gave us the choice to euthanize, but did not pressure the decision.Thank you for providing us with peace and clarity during this stressful moment 🙏Pictures of Nibbles in happier times and her visit to the vet today 🐹
Jul 12, 2023 · Mary NDr Taylor is dedicated, brilliant and compassionate towards all animals. He and his office staff are upfront with quotes for all medicines and procedures, they are accommodating, kind, and followup with every incident I've ever had. I travel 45-60 min every time to see him because none of the numerous vets nearby have a shadow of his skill. My bunnies Maggie, Yessiree and Runty are ever grateful to Dr Taylor and his staff.Ps: I'm rolling my eyes at a lot of these poor reviews I'm reading."They only help if you have money" -- no duh, it's a Veterinary, not a charity. Do you think the expertise, equipment and medicines they use are free?"The doctor has poor customer service" -- I entirely disagree, but even if he did, are you looking for a charming used cars salesman to make *you* feel good or are you looking for superb medical care for *your pet's* wellbeing?
Dec 12, 2023 · Merry MuseDo not take your pet here. We had a very disappointing experience at this vet. I found them to be pushy, cold, and overly sales-oriented, with a lack of transparency in their process.During my first visit for a wellness check and vaccines, I was told my dog needed X-rays and that she was in pain—despite no evidence of this. She has a great appetite, enjoys two daily walks and is very loving. We went ahead with the X-rays, but the vet continued to upsell services. The same pitch occurred during my next visit for vaccines. Helen and Dr. Taylor are always pushing for more.If you’ve faced similar issues here, I strongly recommend seeking a second opinion. Pets deserve better care than this.
