The hospital's long-standing presence in the community indicates a commitment to building relationships with clients and their pets over time. Their dedication to animal health, combined with efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere, positions them as a local option for New Yorkers seeking ongoing veterinary support for their pets.
One Love Animal Hospital is situated at 317 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA. This location places the hospital in the lively Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, making it a convenient and accessible option for residents throughout Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and other surrounding areas of the borough. Atlantic Avenue is a major and well-known thoroughfare, ensuring ease of navigation for those traveling by car, public transportation, or on foot. The street is a prominent commercial artery, enhancing its visibility and accessibility.
The hospital's position on Atlantic Avenue means it benefits from excellent public transit connectivity. It is within reasonable walking distance of several subway stations, including those serving the A, C, G, F, 2, 3, 4, and 5 train lines (such as Hoyt-Schermerhorn, Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, and Bergen Street). This robust public transportation network is a significant advantage for New Yorkers, many of whom rely on mass transit for their daily commutes and errands. While street parking can sometimes be limited in popular Brooklyn neighborhoods, the comprehensive transit options help mitigate this, ensuring that pet owners can reach the hospital for both scheduled appointments and more urgent needs with relative ease. This strategic location underscores its role as a local veterinary resource in a busy urban environment.
One Love Animal Hospital aims to provide a range of veterinary services designed to address the health and wellness needs of pets throughout their lives. Their services focus on both preventive care and addressing specific medical concerns.
- Wellness & Preventive Care: This includes routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, and guidance on parasite prevention and control (fleas, ticks, heartworm, intestinal parasites).
- Diagnostic Services: Capabilities for various diagnostic tests, which may include blood work, urinalysis, and potentially other in-house or outsourced laboratory services to aid in diagnosing medical conditions.
- Dental Care: Offers dental services, which typically include professional dental cleanings to maintain oral hygiene and address periodontal disease.
- Surgical Procedures: Provides a range of surgical services, from routine spays and neuters to other necessary soft tissue surgeries.
- Nutritional Counseling: Advice on appropriate diets for different life stages, breed-specific needs, and management of diet-related health conditions.
- Annual Visits: Comprehensive yearly check-ups to monitor overall health, catch potential issues early, and update preventive care.
- Ad Hoc Nail Trims: Offers convenient services for routine pet maintenance, such as nail trims, which can be important for pet comfort and health.
- Heart Echoes & Other Recommendations: Based on the needs of the pet, they may recommend specialized diagnostic procedures or consultations, such as heart echoes, to ensure comprehensive care.
One Love Animal Hospital presents a mixed set of features and highlights, based on recent customer feedback, which can be useful for New York pet owners to consider:
- Compassionate and Knowledgeable Veterinarians: Dr. Kim is specifically praised for her knowledge, empathy, and compassion. Customers appreciate the help and care provided, leading to a positive experience for both pets and owners.
- Positive Pet Experience (for some): At least one long-term client noted their dog, even at 16 years old, still loves going to the vet, indicating that the care provided by certain veterinarians has created a comfortable environment for some pets.
- Long-Term Client Loyalty: Some clients have remained loyal to the hospital for many years, even through changes, valuing the friendly staff and the team's familiarity with their pets.
- Comprehensive Recommendations: The hospital appears to provide thorough recommendations for pet health, including advanced diagnostics like dental cleanings and heart echoes, indicating a focus on comprehensive care.
- Areas for Improvement (from recent reviews):
- Appearance & Maintenance: A recent review suggests a decline in the appearance of the waiting room and overall "from an appearance POV."
- Inconsistent Communication & Transparency: There have been reported issues with communication regarding test results, lack of confirmation of contact information during check-in, and automatic "no-reply" emails for results.
- Billing Transparency & Surcharges: A significant concern raised is the imposition of "difficult visit" surcharges without prior notification or explanation, and without providing an invoice to sign before payment, leading to unexpected price increases.
- Automated Systems & Customer Service Delays: The use of highly automated systems and routing to a call center for follow-up calls has led to long wait times and frustration, with multiple offers to use a chat bot instead of direct human interaction.
- Inconsistent Policies: A client noted a sudden, uncommunicated change in policy regarding sedation for routine procedures (like nail trims) without prior discussion or notification on the website.
For New Yorkers looking to connect with One Love Animal Hospital, their contact information is as follows:

These contact details provide the primary means for scheduling appointments, making inquiries about their veterinary services, or seeking guidance for pet health concerns. For New Yorkers considering veterinary care in Brooklyn, One Love Animal Hospital presents itself as a local option with a mixed, but generally positive, track record. Its convenient location on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill offers excellent accessibility via public transport, making it a practical choice for many city residents. The hospital is highlighted by clients for the knowledge, empathy, and compassion of certain veterinarians, like Dr. Kim, who have fostered strong, positive relationships with long-term patients. For pets who genuinely enjoy their vet visits, as some reviews suggest, this indicates a successful approach to creating a comfortable and caring environment.
However, recent feedback indicates some operational areas for improvement, particularly concerning communication consistency, billing transparency, and the efficiency of automated systems. For local users, the potential for unexpected charges or difficulty in receiving timely follow-up information are factors to weigh. Nevertheless, for those who value a consistent and caring relationship with specific veterinarians and appreciate a local presence for ongoing wellness and routine care, One Love Animal Hospital could still be a suitable choice, especially given its focus on comprehensive recommendations for pet health.

One Love Animal Hospital Reviews
I've been bringing my dog, Layla, to the Boerum Hill location for six years. Recently, Layla and I have been seeing Dr. Kim and I am so grateful for her knowledge, empathy, compassion, and all the help she has provided. As you can see from the photo, my dog (who is 16 now!) loves going to the vet. Thank you for everything you do! Highly recommend!
Dec 11, 2024 · Clarissa CassoHas gone downhill and sadly would not recommend this vet to anyone in the area- in fact, just run swiftly the other direction. We have taken our Scottish fold cat to this vet since 2019 (when we got her as kitten) and remained loyal, even when they did not have set a veterinarian or group of doctors on staff. From the outside and the waiting room alone it has gone downhill from an appearance POV, but what mattered to us is the staff was friendly and they knew Lola. Outside of the annual visits we have taken all of their recommendations, (dental cleaning, heart echo etc.) and even have come multiple times a year for adhoc nail trims. Well, no more.Sadly they have lost a client and we will not be returning. I called today for a nail trim and got in at 3PM. Post the visit they come and tell me she was vocal and they had to restrain her to cut her nails. She is a cat, countless times they have told me this, but they say no worries just letting you know she wasn't happy etc. Well today they informed me in the waiting room in front of other guests that going forward she will need to be sedated to come to any further appointments. I asked if this is a change in process/ ownership/ management as I have never heard of this and it's not on the website or been communicated to me anytime I call for an apt. In addition to this, typically during every appointment you get an invoice you must sign then pay, that was not done today and instead they charged me extra for my cat being "difficult". Typically a nail trim is always $30, well today it was over $50+ because we were charged a "difficult visit" without being told or notified when I checked out. I paid and then noticed the increase and thought it was a mistake and that is when the front desk told me. Completely unacceptable and lack of customer service
May 16, 2025 · Brittany UhalDr. Kim took amazing care of my dog, Benji, when he had an urgent need on a Friday night when my usual vet was closed. She was calm, compassionate, and thorough, explaining everything clearly and putting both of us at ease. She even checked in over the weekend to make sure he was doing well after being sedated and prescribed ongoing treatment. I’m so grateful for her kindness and expertise! Would highly recommend.
