★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am actually very sad to be writing this review, especially because I used to be an employee at this clinic for years, but the complete lack of compassion for the animals that has come since the current owner has taken over absolutely needs to be addressed. It is disgusting. This past weekend I was out of state on a family vacation when my 16 year old dog (who has been a patient at this clinic since she was a puppy and was just last seen in Oct of 2024) took a turn very fast, and I had to make the decision to have her euthanized even though I couldn’t be there, which is heartbreaking on its own. My parents were caring for her in my absence, and when the in-home euthanasia dr I was hoping could do the procedure (because my last interaction at Mulford was not something I was willing to continue to have. I won’t even get into that!) wasn’t available they called around in a panic to get my girl out of pain as soon as possible. Naturally they called MAH to get her in since my family has always gone there, my dog was always a patient there, and I worked there previously. While my dog was howling in pain, my dad was told that she was no longer an established patient and would need a visit to be re-established and she would need her rabies vaccine before she could be euthanized and the first available appointment wouldn’t be for two weeks out. Because an actively dying dog in pain needs the vaccine, right? When I worked at this clinic under two previous owners I can’t even count the number of times I stayed late because an emergency came in (even animals that weren’t patients at the clinic). Whether they were dying, injured, or just in distress or pain they were taken care of because we wanted to help the animals. There was no strong arming the clients into having a certain test to receive a medication. There was no requirement to get a certain treatment to be taken care of. There was just a care for a living being who needed help. I completely understand that times have changed, and veterinary clinics are overrun with so many animals needing to be cared for so there have to be some boundaries in place to give proper care to the established patients. I do. But I will never understand how a dog who has been seen for 16 years and was just seen 10 months ago is in pain and dying they have it in their hearts to just refuse to do anything for her. I will never step foot in that clinic again, and neither will the other several family members of mine who have been clients for DECADES. I will tell anyone who asks to run the other direction. By the way, Whispering Willows was able to accommodate us within hours. Their dr came to my house and treated my girl with the dignity and compassion every pet deserves. They even let me facetime so I could be there the only way possible. They deserve 5 stars.
August 20 · Brittany McMullenDr. Harbach always listens to any concerns I have about my boys and always makes each visit something my dogs look forward to. Duncan and Kai love hearing the word "vet"! I know any concerns I have about my pets will be taken care of in her hands. I have never been happier with my pet's care.
April 02 · Kate GrunerJust moved to Rockford and puddles loves her new vet not the car ride but she loves the vet. Thank you for taking such good care of my little girl.
July 07 · Jane SoaresI have been coming to Mulford Animal Hospital for many years. I used to live right around the corner from them so I originally tried them based on convenience but I have continued using MAH even though I now live much further away. I will gladly drive the distance because the care and compassion that my animals and I are shown every time we walk in the door (and we walk in A LOT) is second to none. Dr. Harbach and her staff take the absolute best care of my dogs, rabbits, cats, and even chicken! They cried with me when I had to put my senior dog down due to cancer. They celebrated with me when my other dog tested negative for an aggressive cancer. And then they welcomed our new, young dog who was very nervous but they put her right at ease by being patient and kind. The doctors always take time to explain everything, the staff in knowledgeable and friendly, and their prices are reasonable for the excellent care they provide. I recommend Mulford Animal Hospital to all of my friends and family.
