★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I went to Dr. Bolton for decades, since I was a kid. I even did a job shadow there when I was in high school! In fact I even got some of my friends to go to him. I was very happy with him and his staff, they were the best! I would call and say I'm Maxine Rose's mom and they new exactly who I was! When they merged with Murlin Animal Clinic I was a little concerned it wouldn't be the same. My fears were proven true. I have had my dog for almost 9 years now. She has been on a certain medication for about three years. It's nothing that requires blood work to see where her levels are or anything like that. She only gets the meds when she flares up, therefore I only get it refilled every 6 months or so. My last refill (bought two boxes, enough for about a year) was June 24, 2024, just shy of a year ago. I called to get it refilled like I have for many years and they told me my dog needed to be seen by the vet since this new vet hasn't met her yet and of course this meet and greet came with a $55 fee. I said that was insane. It's not my fault my vet sold his practice to you but I am not a new patient. The lady on the phone told me that was their policy. She was very rude and talked over me. When I told her that was bad business practice and that she needed to honor that I was not a new patient she hung up the phone on me. Needless to say, this is not the small hometown feel that Southwest Animal Clinic had and I will never be back. Thank you Southwest Animal Clinic for the past 25 years! Murlen Animal Clinic - you need to new staff. June 13 · Kirstie Nicole
- For the first 13 years of my dog’s life she would always see Dr Bolton, he was great! He loved animals and was the very best. Well, unfortunately he retired and the vet Dr McDermott took over.Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience with her. I saw no love for animals with her, she showed no love or compassion for animals. Also I informed the staff there that I would be boarding Bella in June and I needed to get her the vaccinations she would need to be boarded at the PetSmart hotel. They assured me that she had gotten the vaccinations she needed, well needless to say when I arrive to drop Bella off, she didn’t have the number one vaccine she needed so I was stuck with no where to leave her for my grandson’s wedding out of town. When I called that morning the girl I talked with was like no help at all. Again very unprofessional for an animal clinic.I will be looking for a new place for my precious dog, she doesn’t deserve the treatment she got at Murlen Animal Clinic. June 24 · Phyllis Smith
- We have gone to this vet office for over 20 years - as kid we brought our dogs to this vet and as adult I continue that tradition. It’s been amazing until now- new management. My 15 year old dog had been coughing I called to get appointment on Thursday - they said they didn’t have appointment and vet would be out Friday and Saturday. They said call back Monday at 8AM to get appointment. I called Monday at 8AM and 8:01AM finally got through and they told me they didn’t have appointment- I would have to try again the next day .This would have never happened with pervious vet/management ! They would always make time to see a sick dog/animal. We ended up going to a new vet that was able to get us in same day with upmost compassion for our dog. Murlen Animal Clinic has lost my families business. I recommend you find a different vet that cares more about your pet than a paycheck! July 23 · Courtney Rickert
- We took our dog to this vet after he started showing signs of illness and were told he had diabetes. They prescribed 3 units of ProZinc once daily and also gave us Entyce to help with his appetite. Unfortunately, the treatment plan we were given was dangerously inadequate.Within 10 days, our dog became extremely lethargic and we had to rush him to the emergency vet. The ER doctor immediately recognized that the dose of insulin was far too low and explained that diabetic dogs almost always need insulin twice a day to maintain stable blood sugar. Even more concerning, we were told that Entyce should never be used in diabetic dogs because it can actually raise blood glucose levels, which may have contributed to our dog’s crash. We trusted this clinic with our dog’s life, but instead, we were given a treatment plan that led to an emergency and could have had devastating consequences. It’s incredibly frustrating to know this could have been avoided with proper care. We hope no one else has to go through what we did. If your dog is diagnosed with diabetes, please seek a second opinion—your pet’s life may depend on it. July 20 · Lindsey Hale
- I recently visited Mur-Len Animal Clinic for an appointment with my dog and was extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at the front desk. As I walked in, I was greeted—not with a friendly hello—but with a cold “hold on a second” from the woman at the front desk. She continued her conversation with another staff member in the back, completely ignoring me as I stood there waiting for assistance. There was no acknowledgment, no courtesy, and certainly no effort to make me feel welcome. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable, especially in a role that involves direct interaction with clients. If you are working at the front desk, the very least you can do is greet customers respectfully and provide basic assistance. There are many veterinary clinics that would value and welcome my business, and based on this experience, I’ll be taking it elsewhere. You risk losing more customers if this kind of unprofessionalism continues. If you’re in a customer service role, it’s time to go back to the basics—respect, communication, and common courtesy.
