What is worth choosing
When it comes to selecting a veterinarian, the personal connection and trust you feel are just as important as the clinical expertise. The experiences of clients at Oak Hills Veterinary & Salem Cat Clinic provide compelling reasons why this practice is a premier choice for pet owners in the Salem area. The testimonials highlight not just the professional competence of the team, but their extraordinary capacity for empathy and compassion.
One reviewer's poignant story about their best friend, Gizmo, a cat who battled diabetes, is a powerful testament to the clinic’s character. The client's journey was long and emotional, and the decision to say goodbye was a heartbreaking one. Dr. Millner's role was to help the owner "understand the decision in front of me," which is a perfect example of compassionate, collaborative care. The clinic's support, however, did not stop at the medical procedure. The surprise of finding a rose on the doorstep and receiving a note three months later demonstrates a level of care that is rare and deeply meaningful. These gestures show that the staff at Oak Hills Veterinary & Salem Cat Clinic understands that the grief of losing a pet is a long process and that the bond between an owner and their animal is something to be respected and honored even after the pet is gone. This level of humanity and kindness is truly what makes them a special place.
Another client review, from someone who has been with the clinic for over six years, highlights the consistent and reliable nature of their service. This reviewer feels they can "fully rely on Dr. 'Purright' and Team for all our kitties needs." This phrase speaks volumes about the trust the clinic has earned. The praise for their "prompt communication," whether it's for a simple inquiry or a referral, along with their ability to handle both "basic care and surgeries," reinforces their reputation as a competent and reliable partner in pet health. The simple yet profound statement, "We just simply couldn't be happier with anyone else," is the highest form of praise and a powerful recommendation.
In conclusion, Oak Hills Veterinary & Salem Cat Clinic is an exceptional choice for anyone seeking veterinary care in Salem. They provide a comprehensive range of services for dogs, cats, and pocket pets, backed by state-of-the-art equipment and a professional team. However, it is their unique commitment to a low-stress, cat-friendly environment and their profound empathy for both animals and their owners that truly sets them apart. For pet owners who value a compassionate, trustworthy, and expert partner in their animal's life, this clinic offers a level of care that is both clinically excellent and deeply humane.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I moved to Salem in May with my best friend Gizmo. I didn't know what was wrong with him when I moved here but I knew something was wrong. I came to find out that he had diabetes. I worked with the staff and Dr. Millner to try and get his blood sugar levels to where they needed to be. Unfortunately Gizmo's body just wouldn't regulate. After 6 months of trying I had to say goodbye to my best friend for 12 years. It was the hardest decision I've ever made and it didn't come lightly. Dr. Millner helped me understand the decision in front of me. Gizmo was not only my best friend, but my only friend in Salem as I'm not from Oregon. Coming home after work to a rose on my doorstep was very thoughtful. Receiving a note 3 months later after his passing was also very thoughtful as I'm still thinking about him daily. Thank you to the entire staff at Oak Hills Veterinary.
March 16 · Dustin JevneWe can fully rely on Dr. "Purright" and Team for all our kitties needs. From prompt communication about an inquiry or referral, to basic care and surgeries, they've been there for us for more than 6 years. We just simply couldn't be happier with anyone else :)
October 16 · Kristina SiaHad my first vet appointment here after being with the same vet for decades. I only left because Dallas was too far of a drive and my husband uses this vet for his dog. They are amazing. They are thorough, friendly, and put the animal first. They explain everything and lay it out for you. They are more spendy but I'd rather pay more for good service.
November 27 · Samantha St ClairI had a really sweet stray cat show up at my house that was very sick we wanted to take in. I called a bunch of places but landed at Oak Hills. The entire staff were very friendly, compassionate and professional. The doctor discussed all my options and helped me make an informed decision on how to proceed with the cat. Thank you so much for your excellent care!
October 26 · chad surcklaWe LOVE Salem Cat Clinic/Oak Hills Veterinary! Everyone there is so kind and empathic, good with animals AND humans, and we know we’re in the best hands there. Thank you, Dr. Burright and Team!
