Palmetto Animal Urgent Care Introduce
For pet owners across South Carolina, especially in the Spartanburg area, knowing where to turn when your beloved companion suddenly falls ill or gets injured outside of regular vet hours can be a significant source of anxiety. While true life-threatening emergencies require a 24/7 critical care hospital, many urgent situations arise that need prompt attention but don't warrant an emergency room visit. This is precisely the gap that Palmetto Animal Urgent Care fills for the Spartanburg community, offering a vital resource for those moments when your pet needs immediate, non-life-threatening care.
Palmetto Animal Urgent Care is a dedicated veterinary facility focused on providing prompt medical attention for pets with conditions that are urgent but not critical. They act as an essential bridge between your primary veterinarian and a full-scale emergency hospital, offering accessible care during evenings, weekends, and holidays when many regular clinics are closed. Their mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care for a wide array of illnesses and injuries that, while not immediately life-threatening, could worsen if left untreated until the next business day.
The team at Palmetto Animal Urgent Care understands the stress and concern that pet owners face when their animals are unwell. They strive to create a calm and supportive environment, focusing on efficient diagnosis and treatment to get your pet feeling better as quickly as possible. As reviews suggest, they are known for their friendly, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff, who are committed to making a difficult situation as smooth as possible for both pets and their worried human companions. This specialized urgent care model provides a crucial service, ensuring that pet owners in Spartanburg have a reliable option for those unexpected health concerns that arise outside of routine hours.
Palmetto Animal Urgent Care is conveniently located at 1248 Southport Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29306, USA. This accessible location places them within easy reach for residents throughout Spartanburg and the surrounding communities in South Carolina. Southport Road is a well-known thoroughfare, ensuring that finding the facility is straightforward, even when you're under the stress of a pet needing urgent attention.
The clinic's strategic placement allows for efficient travel from various parts of Spartanburg County, including areas like Roebuck, Moore, and the greater urban sprawl. Ample parking facilities are typically available, which further contributes to a less stressful experience during your visit. The convenience of their location, especially their extended and weekend hours, makes Palmetto Animal Urgent Care a highly practical and valued resource for local pet owners who need medical assistance when their regular vet is closed.
Palmetto Animal Urgent Care is equipped to handle a comprehensive range of urgent, non-life-threatening conditions. Their services are designed to address acute illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention but do not necessitate the intensive resources of a 24/7 emergency hospital. Their offerings typically include:
- Allergic Reactions: Assessment and treatment for mild to moderate allergic reactions, including skin irritations, swelling, and hives.
- Anal Gland Issues: Examination and treatment for discomfort or impaction related to anal glands.
- Bite Wounds & Lacerations: Cleaning, assessment, and repair of minor to moderate wounds and cuts.
- Broken Toe Nails: Professional care for painful or bleeding broken nails.
- Gastrointestinal Issues: Diagnosis and treatment for conditions like vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and decreased appetite.
- Respiratory Concerns: Evaluation of coughing, sneezing, and other signs of respiratory discomfort.
- Eye/Ear Issues: Treatment for eye squinting, discharge, redness, and ear infections.

- End-of-Life Care (Euthanasia): Compassionate and supportive services for difficult end-of-life decisions, as highlighted in glowing customer reviews.
It's important to remember that for severe trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, severe breathing difficulty, seizures, or toxin ingestion, a full emergency veterinary hospital is the most appropriate destination. Palmetto Animal Urgent Care bridges the gap for many other pressing concerns.

- Minimal Wait Times (Often): As noted in customer reviews, many pet owners are pleasantly surprised by the lack of long waits, especially on weekends, compared to full emergency hospitals. While this can vary based on case urgency, it's a significant positive.

- Clean and Welcoming Facility: Clients describe the facility as "super nice and clean," contributing to a more comfortable experience for both pets and their owners.
- Reasonable Cost for Urgent Care: For an urgent care setting, clients find the costs to be reasonable, offering a more affordable alternative to a full emergency room visit for less critical issues. The stated $150 visit fee plus treatments aligns with expectations for specialized after-hours care.
- Comprehensive Urgent Care Scope: They handle a wide array of urgent conditions that are beyond basic first aid but not yet true life-threatening emergencies, filling a crucial niche.
- Paw Prints and Mementos: The thoughtful gesture of providing paw prints and fur clippings, particularly during end-of-life care, demonstrates their deep empathy and understanding during difficult times.

Palmetto Animal Urgent Care Reviews
Very happy with my experience there. Went on a weekend and fully expected to have a long wait based on my previous experiences at other places but there was no wait time at all. I’m sure this can vary just depending on urgency of other cases they may have. Facility is super nice and clean, all staff very friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable. Cost reasonable for an urgent care ($150 for the visit plus whatever treatments are needed). Not an expense anyone wants or needs but glad to have the convenience of an after hours vet in Spartanburg.
Apr 26, 2025 · Melody E.I had to bring my Lilly (cat) last night to be out to sleep I didn't want her to suffer. This was the most caring and professional staff. An experience I didn't want to experience but they were very gentle caring and compassionate. Even made a paw print to keep and fur in bottle with a heart. Wrapped her gently in her blankets and a coffin shaped box so we could take her home to bury her. The vets examined her before putting her down so we knew this was the time to do so, I never left my baby's side.i highly recommend this staff and I am very much appreciated for y'all's kindness.
Apr 09, 2025 · Dawn ScruggsI have been coming here for a little over 3 years now, used to trust them with my animals and they used to be fairly priced. This last visit I made an appointment over a month in advance, I arrived 10min early and STILL waited 30min to be seen. Meanwhile numerous people who came in after me were seen before me, when I arrived NO ONE was in the waiting room. My dogs were getting yearly shots & check up and nails trimmed. When the tech took one of my dogs to trim nails and a fecal swab he came back wobbly, drooling and just not right. I mentioned it to the vet and she just brushed it under the rug. When I took him home he was 20x worse he was practically lethargic and throwing up. When I brought him back all they did was take his temp and said he “seemed fine now” Also when I scheduled the appointment I asked how much it would be for both dogs to plan accordingly, as I do everytime. Now everytime the price is never 100% accurate its been about $50 off when its actually time to pay. They told me around $200 when I asked… do you know how much it was?? $550. Yeah FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS. When I asked multiple times how that could be possible especially since I CALLED BEFOREHAND the lady just shrugged. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. Will not ever recommend palmetto to anyone again and will never return. I will be sure to tell everyone I know about this experience and how horrible my dog and I were treated. Pretty sure he had a seizure from whatever the tech did when she took him back there.
Jun 25, 2025 · lexi williamsThey saved my baby cat. They were so passionate and caring towards our situation. They got us in very quickly with our emergency and handled our baby with so much care. We appreciate them for all they have done. Would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs veterinary care for their animals(Our baby was attacked by a coyote.)
Jun 27, 2024 · Nicole CrawfordWonderful place to take your pet in an emergency. My cat had been throwing up then with blood in it. I was unsure if I would be able for his regular vet to see him on a Saturday, but they took him right in, no waiting! Thank God for Palmetto, the vets and staff are caring
