May 02, 2024 · Rob MorrisOur dog Roscoe was treated by Quality care for a cut on his foot while he was in the hands of the animal shelter. Quality care was supposed to clean up the cut, stitch it up, bandage it, schedule follow up appointment, then return him to the animal shelter for us to pick him up later.Within days of treating the wound, it became severely infected and we had to rush the dog to the emergency vet, days later the entire leg was amputated. Unfortunately, there was no saving the leg because of the severity of the infection. This was extremely expensive and the vet bills just kept adding up for us.It’s difficult to know why or how exactly this happened. Possibly because it wasn’t properly cleaned, bandage wasn’t changed, instructions weren’t given correctly to the animal shelter on monitoring or changing the bandage. As soon as we realized the severity of the infection, I attempted to reach out to Quality care to better understand what happened. Over the period of about six weeks I had called a couple of times, and they refused to Talk to me directly about what happened and would not let me see the vet instructions to the animal shelter. After around the third call to them and never receiving any callbacks, they informed me I was not allowed to contact them anymore, and that they had nothing else to say to me. I was incredibly disappointed with that defensive response. It seemed a little strange that they were so quick to end communication with me. I would have thought they would be interested in knowing what went wrong with the dog’s care to prevent it from reoccurring with someone else’s pet.I was hoping to get some answers, but since they refused to talk, I was not able to get any from them.Having this happen to our family and especially the 3-legged dog was so difficult and beyond stressful. And it was made much worse by this vet behaving as unprofessional as they did.We are so disappointed with their behavior during this unfortunate situation.
