UrgentVet specializes in providing immediate, non-life-threatening veterinary care for pets when their regular vet is closed or unavailable. Their services are designed to address a wide range of acute conditions that require prompt attention but do not typically warrant a visit to a 24/7 emergency room.
Acute Illnesses: Diagnosis and treatment for sudden onset illnesses such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy, coughing, sneezing, and fever. They can quickly assess the situation and provide necessary medications or supportive care.
Minor Injuries: Treatment for various non-life-threatening injuries including minor cuts, scrapes, limping, sprains, and strains. They can clean wounds, provide pain relief, and ensure proper healing.
Pain Management: Assessment and management of acute pain, whether from an injury, a sudden onset condition, or exacerbation of a chronic issue like arthritis. Their goal is to quickly make your pet comfortable.
Allergies and Skin Conditions: Diagnosis and treatment for sudden allergic reactions (e.g., hives, facial swelling) or acute flare-ups of skin conditions like hotspots, itching, or rashes, providing immediate relief and preventing worsening symptoms.
Urinary Tract Issues: Evaluation and initial treatment for urinary problems such as frequent urination, straining, or blood in the urine, which can be uncomfortable and potentially serious if left unaddressed.
Eye and Ear Problems: Assessment and treatment of acute eye conditions (e.g., redness, discharge, squinting) and ear infections or inflammations, which can cause significant discomfort for pets.
Toxin Ingestion (Non-Critical): Initial assessment and supportive care for pets that have ingested a non-life-threatening amount of a toxin, often involving inducing vomiting or administering activated charcoal, before referring to a 24/7 emergency clinic if more intensive care is needed.
Compassionate End-of-Life Care: As highlighted by a customer review, they provide incredibly sensitive and thoughtful support during difficult conversations about pet comfort and quality of life, including peaceful and nurturing euthanasia services during what is a very emotional experience for pet owners.
Diagnostics: While not a full specialty hospital, they typically have in-house capabilities for basic diagnostics such as blood tests, urinalysis, and potentially basic radiography to quickly assess urgent conditions.

Reasonable Cost: As highlighted by a client, the services provided are "very reasonable" in cost. This affordability is a significant benefit, especially for unexpected pet health issues, making quality urgent care more accessible to a wider range of pet owners.

UrgentVet Reviews
My dog received excellent care yesterday, and the cost was very reasonable. We will definitely be using UrgentVet again if our usual vet is closed! Thank you for taking such good care of our sweet boy Ace!
May 25, 2025 · Julia BrowningI am so grateful for the kindness and care that we received at UrgentVet. Late last year my elderly cat suffered a stroke. The vet we met with was patient and compassionate talking through options for care as well as talking through the tough conversation of pet comfort/not causing suffering. My kitty bounced back after the first stroke but sadly suffered others later on. I knew that I could bring her back to UrgentVet and they would be caring and thoughtful. They made a very difficult decision and emotional experience as peaceful and nurturing as possible.
Jun 26, 2025 · Jen RussellI was extremely pleased with our experience at UrgentVet. We have a large goofy dog that likes to eat everything in his path. Someone threw chicken bones out of their window on our street and of course our dog found it on a walk and scarfed it down before we could even see that it was there. The staff at UrgentVet explained each step to remove the bone safely before it was performed and loved on our big boy like he was their own. The folks there are top-notch and I would recommend them to anyone!
Feb 26, 2025 · Tracy PrendergastI'll start with the good:1) We were able to get treatment for our dog.2) They had free snacks, coffee, and water for people waiting.3) It was easy to make an appointment. Now the not so good:1) We waited almost all day to be seen. I understand there were other emergencies today, and that sometimes urgent vets will have long wait times. This long wait time could have been made easier by more open communication from the staff who worked there about how long the wait time would be.2) When the vet tech came out to triage, we were practically ignored. We waited approximately 15 mins after checking in for a live person to talk to us. Then, because our emergency did not appear to be an emergency, other patients were seen before us.3) The vet we saw, while I am thankful she was able to help our dog, did not seem the most comfortable handling our dog. Whenever our dog would recoil from her, she would say she wasn't going to push certain aspects of the exam. I am not used to seeing vets act this way.4) My name is incorrect on the paperwork that was given to me. No one ever confirmed my name or our referring vet's office. This just seems like a simple over site that could easily be avoided.Overall: While I am thankful our dog was helped, I would try another urgent vet out instead of this one next time.
Jun 02, 2025 · Elizabeth DMy sweet boy, Kimchi, went to our regular vet earlier that day. They started to express him, but stopped because he was agitated. They had hoped he would pee on his own, but by the end of the day he still hadn’t. This made it the second day he had not peed. By that night, I knew I needed to get him expressed and was not able to do it myself manually. I called UrgentVet and asked if they would express him without a true examination since I had been to the vet earlier that day. They said they would still require an examination, but I went ahead and brought him. I knew they were closing in an hour and would be significantly more affordable than the emergency vets. After being put in a room, I was told they would not charge me for the cost of the expression since I was paying for the examination and were sympathetic to my situation. The vet attempted to manually express Kimchi and was kind enough to instruct me on how to do it. Unfortunately, they were unable to manually express him and had to do it with a needle. They did not charge me for anything but the examination and were very kind.Unfortunately, my boy did not recover and passed away two days later. But the actions from the people at UrgentVet helped him to be more comfortable, gave us a little more time together, and allowed me to make decisions for his passing without feeling rushed or pressured. It was easy to see that the people that work there truly care about the pets that they help. I would highly recommend UrgentVet to anyone needing their services.
