South Paw Animal Care Reviews
I've been going to South Paw Animal Care (formally known as Westover Animal Clinic in Chicopee) for ten years now. I've primarily worked with Dr. Allen when I bring my cats, and she is phenomenal. I recently had to put one of my cats down, and knew Dr. Allen had to be part of that process. She is extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and compassionate about her work with animals, and this shows through her demeanor as a vet and as a person. She's called me way after hours to discuss lab results and diagnoses, which I don't think most vets would do. She works well with the animals and their human companions, and I would recommend her and this vet office to anyone looking for great care for their pets. Aside from Dr. Allen, the techs and staff are so kind and they all show great care for the people and pets coming through the front door. I cannot praise South Paw Animal Clinic enough.
Jun 26, 2025 · Michelle BartmanThe people who work at South Paw Animal Care are so wonderful. I had to bring in my 18 year old cat, my best friend, on 6/23/25 in an urgent visit as her health rapidly declined in the 24-48 hours prior and I was devastated to consider perhaps it was time to let her go. She wasn’t eating, she wasn’t drinking, she was missing her box and she was lethargic, she wasn’t herself at all. I called the morning of the 23rd and thankfully she could be seen that day at 2:30. From that phone call to the time I picked up her remains days later, we were treated with nothing but kindness and compassion. Kate, the Vet Assistant who did Ophelia’s intake was so sweet and gentle with her, and even when discussing the possibility that the Dr would have to consider euthanasia, spoke so gently and kindly, that even while my heart as well as my family’s were breaking, that Ophelia was in the best possible hands. Dr Weppner, the same. She was so gentle and kind with Ophelia, and our family. She explained the situation, and that with the condition Ophelia was in, that to let her go was the most gracious option. We had every step of the process explained to us as it went along, and we were given ample time to say goodbye and love on her one last time. I picked Ophelia’s remains up on 6/30/25, and the staff at the desk was so sweet when I said why I was there. The respect and dignity with which my family and my best friend were treated with won’t be forgotten, ever. And when and if I ever am able to open my heart to another furry friend, I know exactly who to bring them to for care. Thank you, South Paw, Dr. Weppner & Kate.Ophelia 2006-2025 🖤

Jun 05, 2025 · Ken TrabertI've been bringing my pets here roughly for the past 20 years and even though they moved and it's a little farther to go, it's still great quality Care for my pet. The people are friendly. The doctors are well versed and very compassionate
Jan 12, 2025 · Marc LangevinDr. Emily Allen is the most caring & thorough doctor for my 'kids'. She takes her time with each one and has never failed to steer me in the right direction with my worries & concerns. At our most recent appointment on Jan. 9, 2025, for the kids yearly physical, Dr. Allen was great as we discussed our not being in the area for our boy's next visit so we combined for him. She's great with the kids & a wonderful person to talk to about our moving concerns to the South.
