When our dogs get hurt, whether from a sports injury, an accident, or just the natural wear and tear of aging, we want to give them the best care possible. For dog owners in Washington, finding specialized veterinary services that go beyond routine check-ups is essential. If you’re looking for a practice dedicated to helping your canine companion recover, regain strength, and live a life with less pain, you’ll want to know about The Total Canine in Marysville, Washington. This facility stands out for its specialized focus on rehabilitation and sports medicine, offering a unique and comprehensive approach to canine health.
The Total Canine is more than just a standard veterinary clinic. It is a place where a deep understanding of canine musculoskeletal systems and a passion for helping dogs thrive come together. Their mission is to provide advanced care for dogs dealing with injuries, mobility issues, chronic pain, and post-operative recovery. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, they focus on creating customized treatment plans that address the root cause of a dog's discomfort, whether they're a high-performance athlete or a beloved family pet. This specialized care is a game-changer for owners who have seen their dogs slow down or struggle with persistent issues that traditional veterinary medicine hasn't fully resolved. The team at The Total Canine combines expertise with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring that every dog receives the highest standard of care available.
One of the most valuable aspects of The Total Canine is the holistic perspective they bring to each case. They understand that a dog's health is a complex puzzle, and an issue in one area, like a knee injury, can impact their entire body, from their back to their shoulders. This is where their expertise truly shines. They don't just treat the symptom; they work to restore overall function and balance. This commitment to comprehensive care is why so many Washington dog owners, from Marysville and beyond, have found new hope for their companions. It's a place where you can feel confident that your dog’s well-being is the top priority, and that they are in the hands of professionals who are passionate about what they do.
The Total Canine is conveniently located at 1612 172nd St NE, Marysville, WA 98271, USA. Its position makes it easily accessible for residents of Marysville and the surrounding communities in Snohomish County and the greater Puget Sound region. Finding the clinic is straightforward, and its location is beneficial for those who may be traveling with a dog that is in pain or has limited mobility.
The practice has also made a conscious effort to ensure the facility is accessible for all visitors. This includes a wheelchair-accessible car park, which makes it easier to navigate, especially if you need to transport a larger dog or a pet that is recovering from an injury. Additionally, the clinic features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring a smooth and stress-free entry into the building for both humans and their canine companions. These thoughtful accessibility features demonstrate a commitment to serving the community and making sure that all clients, and their pets, feel welcome and accommodated from the moment they arrive. The Total Canine provides a focused range of services designed to help dogs recover and improve their quality of life. The treatments are based on proven techniques in veterinary medicine and rehabilitation. Here are some of the key services they offer:
Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine: A comprehensive approach to treating injuries, chronic conditions, and post-surgical recovery. This is their core specialty, helping dogs regain mobility and strength.
Laser Therapy & Red Light Therapy: Non-invasive treatments that use light to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and accelerate the healing process in tissues. This is especially effective for joint pain and musculoskeletal injuries.
Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques, similar to physical therapy for humans, used to improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and relieve pain.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Advanced diagnostic imaging to get a clear picture of what’s happening beneath the surface, helping to accurately diagnose injuries to muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Pain Management: Customized plans to manage chronic or acute pain, using a combination of therapeutic treatments to improve a dog's comfort and well-being.
Shockwave Therapy: A non-surgical option that uses sound waves to stimulate healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions.
TPLO Knee Surgery: Offering a crucial surgical procedure for dogs with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries, a common cause of lameness in dogs.
Therapeutic Exercises: Guided exercises tailored to each dog's needs, aimed at building muscle, improving balance, and restoring function.
Sport Conditioning: For canine athletes, this service helps them stay in top shape, prevent injuries, and improve performance in their respective sports.
Rehab Consultation: A thorough initial assessment to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses the specific needs of your dog.
What makes The Total Canine a standout choice for dog owners in Washington goes beyond its list of services. It is the quality of care and the specific features that truly set it apart.
Specialized Expertise: The practice is a specialist in canine rehabilitation and sports medicine, meaning your dog is being seen by a team with a deep and specific knowledge base. This is crucial for complex injuries or chronic conditions that might not respond to general veterinary care.
Personalized Treatment Plans: Every dog is unique. The team at The Total Canine doesn't use a cookie-cutter approach. They create a plan tailored to your dog's specific diagnosis, lifestyle, and goals, whether that's returning to a sport or simply walking without pain.
Strong Patient-Client Relationship: The positive reviews highlight the trust and rapport built between the staff and pet owners. This partnership is vital for a successful recovery, as owners are often part of the at-home care plan.
Focus on Long-Term Wellness: Rather than just providing a quick fix, the goal is to improve your dog's long-term health and quality of life. This includes not just treating injuries, but also preventing future ones through conditioning and proper care.
State-of-the-Art Modalities: The clinic uses advanced tools like laser therapy, shockwave therapy, and ultrasound, which are at the forefront of modern veterinary medicine and can dramatically improve outcomes.
Positive and Welcoming Environment: Reviews from clients consistently mention that their dogs love visiting the clinic, which is a testament to the staff's gentle and compassionate approach. A comfortable dog is a dog more likely to respond well to treatment.

Choosing a veterinary care provider is a critical decision, especially when your pet is in pain. For Washington dog owners, The Total Canine is worth choosing for several key reasons that are consistently echoed in client experiences.
First and foremost, the expertise is unparalleled. The glowing reviews from clients like the GSP owner and the owner of Esme the agility dog underscore the incredible results they achieve. These stories aren’t just about treating an injury; they're about giving dogs back their lives. For a GSP who loves to run, Dr. Eide's treatment meant the difference between a career-ending injury and ten successful seasons of chasing chuckars. For Esme, a dog born with complex knee issues, their help meant overcoming chronic pain to not just walk, but to run and play agility again, which her owner thought was impossible. These aren't just isolated success stories; they're examples of the life-changing impact the team at The Total Canine has on their patients.
Secondly, the focus on rehabilitation and sports medicine is a unique and essential service that you won't find at every vet clinic. They fill a crucial gap in veterinary care, providing the specialized attention that dogs with chronic pain, post-surgical recovery needs, or performance-related injuries require. They understand the mechanics of a dog's body at a level that allows them to pinpoint issues that others might miss. The combination of manual therapy, state-of-the-art tools like laser and shockwave therapy, and personalized therapeutic exercises ensures a comprehensive recovery plan that addresses the entire dog, not just the injured part.
Lastly, the compassionate and caring approach of the staff is a recurring theme in every review. When a dog is in pain, it's stressful for both the pet and the owner. The team at The Total Canine creates a welcoming and supportive environment where dogs feel safe and comfortable. This is a critical factor, as a dog that is at ease is more likely to cooperate with treatment, making for a more effective and less stressful recovery process for everyone involved. For any dog owner in Washington seeking to improve their pet's mobility, manage pain, or simply help them live a more comfortable and active life, The Total Canine offers a level of care that is truly exceptional and dedicated to getting your best friend back on their paws.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I got my first GSP 10 years ago. I failed to appreciate that, unlike my labs, GSP’s won’t stop running unless you make them stop which I failed to do soon enough thus a right shoulder overuse injury in her first season. Fortunately I found Dr. Eide. With her help my GSP has successfully chased Chukars every season all season ever since. “Highly recommend” is an understatement
August 26 · Greg MontgomeryMy dog was born with both patellas luxating both medially and laterally and had surgery when she was 1. We had gone to two sports/rehab veterinarians but by the the time she was 4, she was really in a lot of pain in her knees, back and shoulders. I never thought she would run and play, let alone do agility again. But Dr Eide told me in October of last year that she would be able to start agility in about 6 months, I was skeptical. But with the expertise of both her and Emma, Esme is doing better than I ever expected. Her top line is straighter than it’s ever been before and she’s playing and running agility again. She will occasionally have a few set backs, but with their help, we get her back where she needs to be again. I can’t thank them and recommend them highly enough. They have changed Esme’s life so much for the better. And she absolutely loves seeing them. Me too.
January 18 · Melissa DachsThe Total Canine is a lifesaver for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Jax & Oliver. As an owner to Jax, an active agility dog, and Oliver, my older and semi-retired agility dog, this clinic has been an absolute game-changer. The Total Canine's injury prevention and management have played a vital role in keeping my dogs at their best. Their expertise in injury prevention and management has been a godsend. The clinic's rehabilitation and recovery programs, including nutrition and supplement advice, have been nothing short of remarkable for both Jax and Oliver. Their expertise in physical therapy and rehab has helped both dogs bounce back from injuries and I'm sure have prevented many from happening. Jax is running faster and happier than ever, and Oliver still gets to healthily run a course at 9 years old! What sets The Total Canine apart is their deep love for dogs. Their holistic approach to care ensures that Jax and Oliver not only stay physically healthy but also lead happy and fulfilling lives. The personalized care from Dr. Eide and Emma, keep my active dogs in their best possible shape. I can't recommend this clinic enough. Seeing how happy my dogs are going to clinic, lets me know that they agree! My only regret is not getting my dogs in sooner! 🐾🏆🐾
October 25 · Susan RonkenDr. Eide is an incredibly talented vet with significant knowledge not only in rehab and sports medicine but across many different fields of vet medicine. She has been an integral part of the team keeping my older pup both happy and comfortable. My dog gets a lot of anxiety at most vets which is hard to experience with him. He loves going into The Total Canine and even falls asleep during his treatments, it makes me so happy seeing him so relaxed during a vet visit! Thank you so much Dr. Eide and Emma!
February 14 · Sara DalzellLeslie and Emma are the best for any dog in pain. My dog is not a sports dog. She's a dog that had back and hip pain that her regular vet could not diagnose. We were referred to Dr. Eide by a friend and are so grateful to her for getting my dog out of pain. Years later my dog needed TPLO surgery and despite her older age, she sailed through the surgery and rehab due to Emma! Pain in dogs is so under diagnosed and causes many behavior issues. We are so lucky to have Total Canine in our area to help keep our dogs healthy and thriving!
