The Vetting Zoo Introduce
For pet owners throughout Pennsylvania, finding a veterinary practice that genuinely feels like a second home for their beloved animals is a true comfort. In Palmyra, residents have the privilege of entrusting their "fur babies" to The Vetting Zoo, a veterinary hospital that has consistently delivered outstanding care for over a decade. This isn't just a clinic; it's a compassionate community hub where Dr. Diane, Dr. Jenna, and their "great staff" genuinely care about every single patient and the well-being of animals across the region.
At The Vetting Zoo, the philosophy extends beyond routine medical procedures. It's about building lasting relationships, offering unwavering support, and contributing actively to animal welfare in the wider Pennsylvania community. From the moment you arrive, you and your pet are greeted with warmth and familiarity – as one client noted, "everyone knows Skittles, and she is always excited to see them." This personal touch, combined with their deep medical expertise, makes The Vetting Zoo a highly recommended choice for pet parents seeking truly dedicated and empathetic veterinary care.
---The Vetting Zoo is conveniently located at 327 Schoolhouse Rd, Palmyra, PA 17078, USA, making it an accessible veterinary option for residents in Palmyra and the surrounding areas within Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, and Lancaster counties. This central location ensures that quality, compassionate pet care is within reach for a wide geographic area of Pennsylvania.
Despite its popularity, which draws clients from a "35 to 40 minute drive," the office maintains a very "welcoming" atmosphere. Parking is generally ample, contributing to a stress-free arrival for pets and their owners. What truly sets The Vetting Zoo apart in terms of accessibility is their proactive approach to community engagement and their unique offering of house calls. This commitment means they go beyond the traditional clinic setting to provide care where it's needed most, even extending to in-home euthanasia services for those difficult goodbyes. Their operational hours are designed for convenience, open Monday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
---The Vetting Zoo offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, designed to cover all aspects of your pet's health, from routine preventive care to advanced surgical needs and compassionate end-of-life support.
Examinations and Wellness Care: Comprehensive examinations form the foundation of their care, including tailored vaccination protocols and robust parasite prevention programs to keep pets healthy and protected.
Surgical Procedures: The hospital is equipped to perform various surgeries, ranging from basic spaying and neutering to more complex orthopedic procedures, ensuring safe and effective interventions for your pet's needs. Clients praise their care during and after surgeries, including sending photo updates of hospitalized pets.
Diagnostic Services: While specific diagnostic tools aren't detailed in reviews, a full-service animal hospital typically offers in-house laboratory testing (bloodwork, urinalysis), and imaging (X-rays) to accurately diagnose illnesses and injuries.
Dental Care: Maintaining oral hygiene is crucial for overall pet health. Comprehensive dental services are likely offered to address and prevent dental diseases.
House Calls: A significant differentiator, The Vetting Zoo routinely provides house calls for preventive care, treatment of sickness and disease, offering a convenient and less stressful option for pets and owners.
In-Home Euthanasia Services: For the most sensitive moments, they offer in-home euthanasia, providing a peaceful and comfortable environment for saying goodbye to a beloved family member.
Online Pharmacy: For client convenience, they offer an online pharmacy, allowing easy access to medications, food, and other essential products for pets.
Community Outreach Programs: The Vetting Zoo actively participates in the community, donating time to many low-cost shot and microchip clinics, and supporting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to animal welfare beyond their clinic walls.
The Vetting Zoo is highly celebrated by its long-standing clientele for several remarkable features and highlights:
Unparalleled Compassion and Kindness: Both Dr. Diane and Dr. Jenna, along with their entire staff, are consistently praised for being "so patient, kind and caring." Their genuine concern for "every one of their patients" is palpable, making visits a positive experience even during difficult times.
Personalized Pet-Centric Care: The team’s ability to treat pets "as if she was a member of their family" and the fact that "everyone knows Skittles" upon arrival speaks to a highly personalized and attentive approach. This fosters a sense of trust and comfort for pets, making even "invasive exams" more tolerable.
Support During Difficult Times: Clients deeply appreciate the compassionate support offered when pets have to "be sent to the rainbow bridge," highlighting their empathy during moments of grief.
Community Engagement and Animal Advocacy: Their dedication extends beyond the clinic, as evidenced by their active participation in "shot and microchip clinics and TNR." This commitment to animal advocacy and rescue programs within the community is a significant highlight.
Excellent Communication and Updates: The thoughtful gesture of sending "pics when my dog had to be hospitalized" demonstrates their commitment to keeping pet owners informed and reassured, going above and beyond typical veterinary care.
Convenience of House Calls: Offering routine house calls for preventive care, sickness, and in-home euthanasia sets them apart, providing invaluable convenience and comfort, especially for pets who do not travel well or for end-of-life care.
Highly Recommended and Loyal Client Base: The fact that clients travel a significant distance and "Highly recommend them!!" after over 10 years of service, speaks volumes about the consistent quality and trust they inspire.

The Vetting Zoo Reviews
We have been using The Vetting Zoo over 10 years. Both vets are so patient, kind and caring. They genuinely care about every one of their patients and the animals in their community. They donate their time to do many shot and microchip clinics and TNR. Their office is very welcoming and the staff is great! They even sent me pics when my dog had to be hospitalized.
May 07, 2025 · Nichole BrownSkittles is our 3rd dog that we have had the Zoo Crew as our only vet care team. Dr Diane and Dr. Jenna are both very caring and always does what is best for our Skittles. We travel about 35 to 40 minute drive to go to them. They are compassionate and have helped us as we had to send 2 of our babies to the rainbow bridge. The office staff and techs are the best. When we arrive at the Zoo, everyone knows Skittles, and she is always excited to see them. Highly recommend them!!
Nov 30, 2024 · Marianne WinkowskiWe live 45 minutes away from the Vetting Zoo and would travel a greater distance to have the level of care our 4-legged family members receive. Originally, we had labs and now have greyhounds. The employees are caring and truly seem to enjoy their jobs. The 2 doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable.
Apr 09, 2025 · Jeanne SmithI love this place. Your slow cost vet service is fantastic also. Everything runs smoothly and pleasantly, even in rainy weather 😄 🤣. Great place to take your furry loved ones
May 05, 2025 · Jennifer KingBe aware that if you have to take your perl to emergency care and you request your pets record to aid in stabilizing your pet or saving it's life, you will have to wait for manager approval and pay a processing fee for them to share your pets medical history. If the manager is not in when you need this approval there will be a significant delay in the receipt of this information. Why this isn't an easy email to the guardian of the pet in question is beyond me. I've had less trouble accessing human medical records than this.
